  • retched

  • Glen freakin' Frey.

  • come on CLAP!!!!

  • Embarrassing pile of shite

  • I produced and wrote the Lee Cooper Jeans, 'Ace Faces' TV commercial back in 1980 featuring the lovely Gary Holton on lead vocals.

He was a great geezer and top singer but he got wrapped up in the evil world of drugs and there he went......he could have done so much more. Dave Cairns

  • This was a totally live performance, faded out by the shows engineers. It was shown on BBC4 (possibly a reused performance from another week's show)

  • Nice 10 second shot of the ceiling for Natioinal tv !!

Possibly the nastiest announcing ever for TOTP .

Didn't want people to like this band did they ?

Too bad everyone already did !

Check the Delirious and No angel from German tv for some much more amusing camera work.

  • Wonderful 10 second shot of the ceiling for National TV .

Really didn't like the band much did ya.

Trainspotter announcement ,"'Parody" wisecrack at the end .... not very polite BBC.

  • This reminds me of the verse of "Disco 2000" by Pulp.

  • When they were on at Stoneground, Manchester, Gary did a streak across the stage! I was standing near him in the wings at the time!

  • This may have appeared "menacing" in post Clockwork Orange Seventies Britain, but it looks really lame now, Look out, he's got a brolly!

  • @shaftsbury94 what r u on about?! The singer ended up as a character in Aufwiedersehen, Pet! He's very good in it, u should look it up.

  • they never got anywhere, the singer ended up a bricklayer.

  • Well they are not showing this neither on BBC FOUR and but it is a rather disappointment that the Savile showing has been probably due to the issue of David Bowie. They've replaced it with a unscreened 3/6/76 instead on the 2nd of June, how embarassing that also those both clips were shown on BBC4's The Story of 1976 documentary (above Wurzels,Real Thing) and now this clip along with David Bowie's 'TVC15'.

  • all fuckin' drug addicts. we all looked up to these losers because they where on TEEVEE. once you realize this is a fraud-you're able not to believe in incompetent drug addicts.none of these sad guys is talented. talent comes without drugs. if you can't live and create without the dope-you ain't good for nothing.

  • @combattaskforce then do me a favour and burn any Beatles, Hendrix, Dylan, Stones, Louis armstrong, Eric Clapton, John Coltrane, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Massive Attack, Herbie Hancock, Lou Reed or Miles Davis albums you might own.

    Oh, and don't drink, hypocrite.

  • @Muzikman127 by the way as you take drugs and for that can't understand the underlying issue.there are enough people who wanted to do that-and they werent cult memebers.there will be no more need for drug culture once the right mindset is in power.it is not necessary to burn and kill people like they do in the 3rd world for disciplining citizens.you don't understand that there is a wonderful different way arranging things.be patient you'll find out in the future sir.

  • @combattaskforce what did you even just say...?

  • Love the Cockney British sound!

  • Eat a great song and band gary holton rest in peace this is real music an proper rock an metal not like most of the shit nowadays.

  • Catch the Heavy Metal Kids live at The 100 Club London on Thursday March 3rd 2011.

  • Gary Holton / Jaz Coleman - separated at birth?

  • @theylive23 Aborted at birth...pair of pricks

  • Catch the Heavy Metal Kids live at the Relentless Garage in London on the 11th November!

  • iTunes dude. They have the kids on there

  • KITSCH, great album in the 70's - I'm still looking for it in digital version (mp3) - any recommendations?

  • no afence this is not metal

  • @pulse0fmagg0ts - no afence!? - but this was before heavy metal was invented!

  • @pulse0fmagg0ts maybe it so metal we cant understand it

  • @OuTRunner12 - you're right there mate - this band is so metal - you can't understand it - so why you watching it?

  • @pulse0fmagg0ts no offence mate but that aint you spell offence...no afence

  • Ostbahn - Du bist ka Engel (1991), Album: 1/2 so Wüd

  • I liked Aufwiedersehen Pet, but Gary Holton cannot sign. His voice has a really awful rasping tone.

  • @maybery2009 shut up u tit.i suppose ur a brilliant singer.wats the point in leaving a negative comment on here.

  • @maybery2009 - Oh shut up you tart - Gary Holton was a better singer than he was an actor - that's because he was one of the best singers ever lived - give 'Would you cry for me' a listen before commenting please.

  • The BBC in concert show from 1977 is now available to download from itunes and others. I've downloaded it and it's brilliant. Chelsea kids, Squallerday inn (this one's all about.....Squaller) and Cry for me are ace. I wish Guns n' roses fans would listen to cry for me - they couldn't possibly say that it's not more powerful than anything their lot have done - they'd be lying if they did. This was an INCREDIBLE band.

  • This appearence on T.O.T.P should have given the band the break they deserved. Mickie Most had signed the band to Rak, and said " I am confident The Kids will be one of the world super-groups in 5 years time*

A months later, they were witout a record deal and the band had split up....

  • This is the best Heavy Metal kids song. Great band apart from their name. Gary Holton was cool as fuck.

  • I saw The Heavy Metal Kids at the Marquee in Wardour Street, Soho back in the 70's,

I sat on the edge of the stage and was stunned when Gary Holton looked down and pointed his finger at me as he sang this song...lol

    It made my night!:)

  • lovely tune

  • All the kudos here for Gary and no one mentioned he sang for the Damned for a bit when Vanian quit.

  • Nice to see Wayne's alter-ego!

  • Steve wright is an irritating pr!@k!

  • but never the less!! He done fabulous in the role of Wayne Winston Norris!! Right mate.

  • Great band....Gary was brilliant. Who remembers the lager adverts?

  • Great! thanks for putting this on.

  • The missing link between glam and punk - but this performance does seem slightly lame although Gary Holton is deemed a legendary frontman by those 'there at the time' and John Lydon & the Pistols have gone on record stating they as good as ripped this lot off - this is from TOTP at a low-point in that shows history, and the camera angles are well below par.

Someone was taking notes for Spinal Tap me thinks, the rest of the band look like they could all go by names like 'Mick Shrimpton' etc

  • What's lame about this performance?

    I think it's brilliant - Gary's well on form.

As for the band looking like Spinal tap!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!

  • You're right on Neil! This band Rocks big time! One of the Best Bands ever!

  • go on wayne lad

  • Thanks for sharing this nice vid!

  • Bonham tried the same thing with Slade's Jimmy Lea once

  • pin, pin, pin,

    bar ba curaaaaa

  • Does anyone remember a TV programme about skinheads circa 74. It's describing their lifestyle and then it says (words to the effect of) and here's a band that they like - next up is a live gig with Heavy metal kids - Holton's saying to the crowd - 'This one's about the Police, do you LIKE the Police?' and they go into 'Cops are coming' - it's brilliant - love to see that one again.

  • Oh God, I saw these cats open up for KISS and RUSH on April 6, 1975 for $5.00...yes $5.00 at Lisner Auditorium in Wash., D.C. My memory is'nt that good, I got it off of my ticket stub. I have all of my ticket stubs and it's great to look back in time. Hell, I was messed up at most concerts.

  • "cats" lmao!

  • Gary Holton had a very sad end. He was a very talented actor and like so many that have passed away you wonder what he would have gone on to do

  • he auditioned for ACDC too! when bon scott died

  • Yes he did.. But he showed up piss drunk at the audition.. And didn't get the gig..

A real shame.. wonder what that would've sounded like..

  • Comment removed

  • his best song was the murphy's mob theme tune!

  • I read John Bonham punched Gary once in a bar. Fuck John Bonham.

  • It's true he did. I was there and Bonham wanted to take everyone on that night!

  • When Bon Scott passed away, ACDC were considering to make this the lead singer

  • Saw this lot in 75 at Newcastle City Hall - awesome. Holton was magic. They beat the crap out of each other on stage with chains and things. Holton was at the top of the steps when they came on and ran down when they started. Kitsch is a CLASSIC. Oh and can somebody kick Steve Wright in the balls please.

  • Saw him many times live and they were brilliant he supported Steve Marriots Humble Pie thats were we got to know them and saw them in Brum at Barberellas what a great place that was!

  • Barbarellas? Anyone ever seen Jameson Raid there?!!!

    :-)

  • Aye pet haha, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, classic. Shame Gary was a smack head really. My favourite was Brian and his West Bromwich and North district methodist tennis semi finalist status haha

  • if brian was your fave, why dont you know he is called barry?

  • heh heh heh

  • Apologies, made an honest mistake there. Why does everybody look for confrontation wherever they go? This is what is wrong with England and many other places these days. You should try and get out some more, its nice today. Stop talking to your future Thai bride on eharmony!

  • Not really, it's a fact unfortunately and probably had a part in costing him his life similar to Kurt Cobain and deprives us (the fans) of their work.

  • twat! your calling me because i corrected somthing! go and watch see ya soon hinny!

  • You make no sense!

  • so, this sounds nothing like metal, much less heavy metal

i understand this is the 70s but wtf

the lead vocalists voice is just fucking annoying

  • Thanx mate! I Gary from the "´Pet", but he was also awsome performer. Miss the fucking cockney, and I'm from Finland. U have any Gary shit to share in Pirate Bay? It's so fucking hard to find anything...

  • well, at least Michael Monroe did justice, more than justice to this song.. and Delirous was also done royally by new edition of Hanoi Rocks

  • not really a hard rockin tune. could have used a little more power. (i'd call em the "lite metal kids." or even the "lite rock kids.") but i can see why lydon used to follow this band around. he may have copped some of his moves and vocal inflections from holton.

  • Great song. Does anyone have the video they had on some show in 1972 . The song was called "It's the same".It's was a slow song.

  • It was on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1974.

  • id love to hear their song call the cops

  • it's actually called 'the cops are comin'

  • Holton was the greatest...

  • Saw the Kids a few times, great rock band.

  • Great! Love the kids and Gary! trainspotter! lol
