Am sorry , but who in their right mind could not stand and be truly blown away at Requiem? It was written for only one reason . A movie. Lord of the Rings, Not for any other reason, but that and that only! And then on to the next scene. For Last of the Mohicans, it's not just the quality of the last song, which isn't even as good as the movie version -- it's the entire soundtrack is perfect and I can't imagine the film without it. That puts it up there in my opinion, even above Lord of the Rings.

QUESTION: Where's CONAN the Barbarian? That is undoubtedly the best classical music soundtrack of the last 25 years. Go listen to it!

@TibianBotter Requiem isn't actually all that, it's the Two Towers trailer remix that blew everyone's minds. I actually think Clint Mansell's soundtrack for The Fountain, the next film he did with Darren Aronofsky, is more epic. Now there's a top 25 album for sure. Again, not just based on one piece. I think to qualify for top 10-20 the whole tracklist should be epic.

This is simply a case of the word 'Greatest' being used instead of 'Favourite', so cut some slack. Some good choices though. I happen to agree that the Dark Knight score is unbelievably epic & definitely worthy of inclusion on anybody's Top Ten, although I'd hardly say that Apollo 13 is James Horner's best work. My Horner choice would be Aliens.
