So is this pretzle-man different than the chinese acrobats who can bend themselves into even more twisted and more powerful and complicated positions? It has nothing to do with spiritual development! It's only the "asana" (postures) stage of ashtanga yoga and is frozen in the Hatha Yoga phase which every good yogi knows is the second phase of 8 levels. Just a bunch of followers who have no faith in themselves and in turn worship this pretzle-head.

BKS and BNS both studied under Krishnamacharya. BKS was sent off to teach at the Pune Gymkhana where wealthy westernised Indian babu's used to visit. The reason Krishnamacharya sent BKS was because BKS wsa the only student who could speak English.
The video clips were made with the help of BKS Iyengars wealthy students. BKS later extended requested to his student to cover Krishnamacharya as well.
This information is from BKS Iyengar's biography posted by one of his students.

To say that these postures are damaging to the body is like saying that pushing the boundaries of the mind is damaging to the mind. It can be if done wrong, but if done correctly, pushing the boundaries of body and mind are needed for spiritual development. If you do not push the boundaries of your mind you will be stuck in stagnant mindsets. One must open the mind beyond all boundaries, only then will you realize the truth.
His health is because of his nutricion and the respiration he does and some of his exercises too, but some of them are really damaging, for example for what would you need to twist the knees on unnatural movements, for what??
Defn of an asana by none other than PatanjaliAn asana is simply a posture that is comfortable-nothing more nothing less You should not be doing a Matsyendrasana on your first day You need years and years of pratice of easier poses Keep it gradual There is nothing unnatural about asanas If you have noticed a baby-he will be able to do most of the things easily As days pass man dvlps stiffnes in various parts of his bodyYoga retrieves that flexibility and makes his body and mind yng agn
This is extremely advanced yoga, executed by a master. There is no damage being done to the knees here, and the more flexible your joints are, the more resistant they will be to many commonly sustained injuries.
I don't see anything here that I consider unnatural. I have been a student of yoga for ten years and all aspects of my physical practice have had nothing but a positive impact on my body, my health and my life. I aspire to be as skilled in the practice as Iyengar and other great masters, in my old age.
yoga is something spiritual, it's about nature, do you know what movements can do the leg?? You should read more about that and give importance to health not to show off, but neither that because it's pathetic. Personally I don't need my foot on my face, do you?
I'm not sure I understand you here; if you are saying the spiritual aspects of yoga are more important than the physical aspects, I agree with you. But it is good to purify and discipline the body in the pursuit of spiritual development. I don't think this is about showing off, more demonstrating what a fit instrument the body can become, also simply demonstrating how to perform the postures. Physical practice is just one branch on the tree of yoga, but it is a valuable part.
ok, you got to see deep in your mind that showin off weird postures is a factor to learn yoga. If you believe what you say you should feel satisfied with enough exercise for you body, to twist your knees is not necessary for being healthy or for feeling good spiritually
I don't think the exercises are weird. These are advanced postures from an experienced yogi. The deeper you go into the stretching, the more you increase your flexibility, so this degree of flexibility is a natural rather than unnatural result. But yes, not necessary for yoga. A woman paralyzed can still achieve enlightenment. There is more than one path to reach the goals of yoga.
Useless and damaging? Are you for real? Yoga practice has countless profound benefits to the body alone. Stretching and strengthening the body is useless and damaging? No, exercise is of tremendous benefit. This is an ancient practice that his endured for thousands of years because of how useful and beneficial it is. Maybe read up a bit, and learn for yourself.
he's very good. i'm impress.

BKS can do these postures because his hips are open - it has nothing to do with the knees.

those twisted postures are useless and damaging!
UTREFRTIYMNOG 5 years ago
That's why this guy is 80 something, and still practicing the same postures, and his master lived until 101. Obviously really bad for the health!!!!

you have to accept that some of those postures are not natural. I am agree with extreme extensions but not with unnatural movements
