  • Yeah, but *their* hearings are for the children, Dave. :P

  • I don't understand how we're supposed to make progress without repealing their bad laws. I don't want our good reps to stop submitting bills. Bad idea.

  • what an ass of a thing to do...free staters recant their right to submit a bill based on financing...who does the thinking around this...1500 is too much to assure your voice be heard...I would pay 1500 to hear the voice of my enemy should it present the opportunity to peace...

but no lets focus on cost...thats the important issue...lol morons

the individuals right to civil liberty...cost too much...lol what a joke.

    minus one for Free Staters...

how much does your dem. frnd get for a slush fnd

  • Very intriguing idea. I think it would definitely become more of a PR issue, but that's not to say it isn't worth trying.

Love all your vids very much, this one in particular put a lot of food on my brain's plate...gotta digest this one a bit more...

  • The problem is that the average state rep WANTS to submit bills and wants to pass edicts on his fellow man. That's their most burning desire and the reason they seek out these gigs.

  • That's one of the reasons that Ron Paul stands out so much in the US House, he keeps voting against bills.

Sadly, where I live, no one I can vote for is of the same fiber.

  • I really like your videos. Keep up the great work.

  • um...

seeing as pro-liberty reps are in the minority, it doesn't make sense to sacrifice the power one has to negate the power of one anti-liberty rep.

It's like trading queen for queen in chess when you're already behind.

  • Gotta agree GloriousCoconut. I'm wondering if they have something like a "Read the Bills" act in NH (which would be great on a Federal level -- DownsizeDC has been promoting this) to control the number & size of bills being considered annually. If they actually have to read all the bills, then that would considerably slow them down.

What I'd really like to see is a bill that mandates that when the Fed or State passes one new bill, they must examine three previous bills for Constitutionality.

  • Downsize DC is great, If only (HALF) their proposed legislation were passed, cut down on Govt!

  • I totally agree. I would not agree to this at all, if I was a rep in NH. I would reserve the right to submit all of the pro liberty bills I deem necessary. I might restrict myself to only submitting the better ones and not all of them to cut down expenses, but I would not agree to quit submitting bills.

  • I'm not sure about this. The best case scenario is that New Hampshire would keep the status quo, which is better than things getting worse, but it also means things won't get better. There'd be no way of legalizing things and making things better if you can't support pro-liberty bills.

Wouldn't a better idea be to make it so that it costs money to submit a bill? Less bills would be submitted and you wouldn't have to worry about ripping off the tax payers. Easier said than done, though...

  • Of couse I can see Dave's reasoning though: if you cut down on legislation (which almost always 90% of the time GROWS govt), and this took off..then you would come along as step #2 and say hey: Why don't we repeal some of the bad legislation!

  • I don't mind stopping submitting laws, but what I want to see is ONE HELL OF A LOT MORE REPEALS submitted.

A REPEAL is not an initiation of force by definition.

  • I didn't know you could submit a request for a law to be repealed. Sounds like a good idea to me.

  • Wow. I'm the first one to view this. I feel like I should win a prize.
