  • Nice installation. Very clean and professionally done. You should sell that motor setup on ebay.

  • That's the quietest mid-drive system I've ever heard...well done! Where did you get the tube mounts that are holding the motor on?

  • The 47mph top speed can't have been on the road - I have a 48V1000W ebike running off a 20Ah lithium iron phosphate battery which goes 34 on the flat but an absolute maximum of 39mph downhill. You must have done it on the stand before you left, otherwise I'd be wiiiildly surprised.

  • $2000 is still a lot of money

  • where do you put your feet when its going 47mph?

  • @TINBITZPHAM the crank freewheels so you don't have to pedal when using the motor, so you could just leave your feet on the pedals and not have to worry about keeping up

  • the total cost of conversion of this bike was $ 2000?

  • Very nice work. Congrats...

  • nice bike !...well done

  • Nice bike recumbent with a windshield and this motor set up then you have something.

  • I have a bike that runs on dirty diapers and cottage cheese.

  • I have a Mini 40 Mile Busettii bike and it runs 50-55 miles on one battery charge. I also tried my friends Vortex Mountain bike by Busettii. It ROCKS ! Can get up to 32 mph top speed, and on one charge that bike set the new record of 86 miles. Hope it becomes a big hit. In California many people like Busettii because they cost around $1700 but can go 50--86 miles on one charge depending on model. Maria in Cali

  • could i if i wanted to put the electric on the front wheel?

  • why dont you have the throttle on the right and back is go, like normal?

  • just soooo good what a great idea

  • To many chains. Motorise wheels or bottom bracket.

  • I think once you make it electric the chance of getting it stolen gets higher, so do recommend any kind of lock with it.

  • Does this do the 47MPH loaded or on the roller?

  • I have an electric scooter here and it hauls me at 20 mph and I weigh 235 lbs so thats not bad. I like to see this scooter motor on a bike I'm sure it would haul due to the scooter is alot heavier. If you get the correct can motor they can put alot of tork into your bike. I don't see why alot of peeps don't use this method

  • man ride it!!!!

  • i have the scooter the schwinn s-750 and it rocks

  • That is a really nice conversion. Looks good, bravo.

  • how fast will it go with load on it? not just spinning on some rollers....

  • Nice!!! Can you tell me where you got the mounting brackets and the cranks... well everything lol. Thanks, Rick...

  • Did you buy your electric motor from cloud electric?

    thanks for answer

  • @musician725 Yes I did Product Code: MO-36-750

  • hi!

    is your electric motor from

  • You can't go 47mph with that tiny 750watt motor! Maybe on the bike stand?

  • This was going downhill flat ground speed is 32mph

  • can anyone recommend a good brand for conversion kits? i have a trek soho also

    Im looking for around 30mph..

    Thanks!

  • Hey there have you picked a conversion kit yet? Im not looking at a possible Soho to buy and convert. Just wondering if you got one and run into any probs?

  • @bamptonbred I plan on putting this bike on Ebay lather this week

  • @SuperfastDoctorD have you already put it on ebay?

  • What is the REAL max speed on flat ground.. (I mean.. not the no load speed)

  • 32 MPH

  • @SuperfastDoctorD I got 300w/24v motor running at 36v. Top speed 25mph but for 12miles i'd use about 7.6 ah. an't figure out how your motor can be so efficient. Did you pedal along the way ir is that straight power? Nice bike btw.

  • I am an e-biker and machinist who would love to help you produce this! reply if interested

  • I am a cnc programmer & machinist also just to busy to make more kits. I am interested.

  • thats a very nice conversion sir! very very nice!

  • How far do you ride it in a day, to and from work?

  • 9 miles each way

  • Nice concept, nice construction.

  • where did you buy freewheel for pedal crank.. and for motor

    thanks

  • If you're driving 30 miles each way, then an e-bike makes no sense. However, in dense cities (LA, NY, ...) these things are awesome because you don't have to deal with parking, and you're never going more than ten miles anyway.

Note: connect your motor directly to the wheels, not the pedals. It's a lot safer (and more fun) that way. Or just get a Currie IZIP/EZIP.

  • Darkphotn: :It's usually at least a few miles shorter on a bike. The choice of biking 30 miles in under an hour or driving my car 30 miles and not know whether it will be 30 mins or 3+ hours behind traffic or a pile -up is an easy 1. Bike.

Spoke-drives and Hub-motors are simple and low maintenance, i know , i have them both. But the crank-drive will assist through all the gears at higher speeds. You see,, while a wheel-hub only has 1 gear, the crank motor has as many as the bike .

  • 80cc engines are noisy dirty crap (illegal too usually) this is a really nice bike.

  • you are the man! this is gorgeous!

  • soooo, he has taken away all of the things that make the bike healthy. . . . . good job

  • I converted my bike to electric some time ago. I've been commuting to work on it and have saved a serious bundle in gas. More than enough to recoup the cost of the kit.

As for removing the health aspect of a bike, I still pedal just not as hard. Didn't pedal at all in my truck! I'm in better shape now, have lost a ton of weight and have a much better outlook on life.

So really, before dogging something like this, try one out if you can. I'll just bet you change your mind :)

  • that all makes sence, i didnt mean any offense, i tottally would, but i travel about 35 miles one way for my job, id have to leave really early with one of those, im thinking about getting a sport bike at least its like 60 mph instead of 18 with my big truck

  • A great commuter for those days you don't want to arrive dripping in sweat.

  • i like your bike, i have converted a kmx kart to electric and i used a 650watt 24v motor but run a 36vlt battery but am getting very por run times indeed. i am thiking of selling it as here in the UK people drive with little regards for others and also rush too much in there vehicles so with my recumbent bike being low to the ground its a little bit intimidating.

  • Trek, good solid frames. My 36v lead acid folder with 500watt and recumbant fairing is the summer project.

Labour the biggy, LOL! I'd say $2500. or so for your rigging time incl machining. Looks tight! 5*

  • haha 2000 thousand dollars bette buy a 120 Dollara 80 cc engine and u get the same speed muahaha and u have left 1900 for gas for a LIFETIME AHHAHH

  • If you got your pants caught in the chain you'd be screwed. Maybe you should add a chain guard.

  • What a neat conversion! It looks like you had to machine the adapter for the sprocket to jackshaft on the motor side. IS a jackshaft is quieter or noiser than using planetary gears?

BTW what diameter is the jackshaft? The only other thing I'd suggest is some kind of cover for the two drive chains - could do some damge to trousers etc!

How many custom parts did you have to develop and how many are "off the shelf"?

  • so no are you gonna start making the parts and selling them that is a great set-up and cheap motor to buy.

if you put the whole package of brackets adn sprockets together it would sell verry easy.

  • This video has been added to my favorites. First ever!

Nicely done. Thanks for the info about where to buy parts, especially the crankset.

  • While I am impressed at it's freewheel speed, what do you have in the way of practical top-speed on the flats? My hub gets up to 25 on the flats (but it is 12 volts beefier, I notice you have hyrbrid wheels, are they stout enough for today's deteriorating pavement? Elegant-looking chain mount, have you had issues with it de-railing? I've got a buddy who is keen on trying out this approach, any info you got is helpful.

  • Where did you find your freewheel crankset? I can't find those anywhere

  • You can get them at electricscooterparts. I show video on how to assemble it.

  • heh love the power switch :)

  • Nice. That's a clean looking modification too.

  • USD 2000? Hahaha. For this price I can have old car.

  • Factor in the cost of driving that car for lets say... 10,000 miles. Initial cost of the car, gasoline, registration, insurance, wear and tear You now have a car that has costyou $5000

  • Yeah, but you cat have your friends in a car,and use it in the rain, and travel heaps further with heaps more payload. And not freeze ur ass off lol

  • All that is true.. exactly why I keep my Jeep. I hate how much it costs JUST TO HAVE IT! Insurance and licensing costs way more than what I pay for gas every year

  • exactly

  • Finally someone who knows how to make a bike and a video. Good job I'll check out some more links.

  • Where can i get a motor with at least 350W, 12V for under 100$? Someone gave a 100W motor but i don't think it's stong enough.

  • car starter motor, or electric radiator fan motor for a car.

  • to be honest i think you will be dissapointed with a 12v motor i had a 24v 250w then i powered it to 48v prob 350w ish and its still only avridge. now ive got a 48v 1kw thats very good, cost £200 and worth evry penny

  • currie\schwinn chinese motors + electronics but they work and are good performers for the money. 350 watt to 750 watt replacement motors run 75 to 100 dollars with a controller and are quite tough.

  • Nice job, basically our ghetto ebike done right so the pedals work with a smaller motor. When we made our, we didn't realize the power of the Etek. So now the motor is on a motorcycle chassis, with about 48v 60ah. The lifepo4's really do make all the difference, it fixed the massive drain on the lead acids giving a ridiculous range increase.

  • Heh. this is our ebike basically, but done so the pedals actually work. You will quickly realize that going

  • New conclusion it does 37.5MPH flats and will do more downhill or going with winds, check it out. Even at 33MPH on level ground, it's scary fast!

  • That's an awesome freewheel, cool bike for a750w! Did you make the freewheel or did u buy it? We got 36mph on flats, haven't tested down hill yet. Too bad u dont have vids on your freewheel and other stuff seems like u got interested visitors.

  • where did you find the lifepo batteries? the only ones i've seen around are small laptop style cells.

  • FOXX POWER

  • What is your real speed on ground?

mine is 54mph free air and 45mph on flat ground no wind

  • 33 mph on level ground

47 mph was going downhill and pedaling

have had it up to 51 mph now

1st gear will wheelie & you can do brake stand burnouts more movies on the way

  • Beautifull construct!!

And when you're going that fast, you could use some suspension to ease the ride!

    next frame.... right?

  • yes it could use some suspension, & the motor seems to vibrate the handlebars if you dont wear gloves your hands will fall a sleep.

  • a little to complicated for my blood ill stick too the brush less hub motor, great bike happy trails

  • I can't find a S750 replacement motor that's water tight like yours. Most have open air holes on the tail end of the motor. Looks like I just need to find me a S750 scooter that someone doesn't want anymore.

  • Where did you get such an engine? Did I hear you right? Schwinn S750 Electric Scooter Motor?

  • Can I get more info on where you bought your components for the electric conversion. This seems much more efficient than hub motors.

  • that would be So Awesome if you put that motor on a 3 wheel bicycle.that's what i would do.whether a recumbant trike or a classic style adult size trike, this would be the ultimate economy vehicle with awesome efficiency.i'd take it shopping.Have the basket in the rear with bags of groceries.i'd have front and rear lights and signal lights.i'd put a horn on it and also have a canopy top.you'd be SO SET!! : )

  • Yes it is a front freewheeling trials crank.

  • what is a freelwheel crank?

  • Super great design and construction. Did I understand that right, is that a freewheeling crank?

  • 17 miles agressive riding full throttle all the time.

22 miles coasting down hill & slow accelerations.

  • Great job! Have you tested for full range?
