  • He sings like a woman.. a woman who sings very beautifully, but womanly.

  • This isn't music. This is beyond it. It's beyond a revolution. Beyond a construction. It's simply out of this world.

  • Musical Art.

  • God Bless Mike Douglas. He and Dick Cavett showcased so many important cultural figures of the day on their shows. Love this performance!

  • @Streamline09 That is so true,Dick Clark is another great promoter of all talents.

  • What year did he do this?

  • @Scopa7 1966(even though the song was recorded in 1965)

  • hopefully the pendulum of artistry will swing back to where music came from the soul

  • Superb

  • also, this is great b/c back then the artists would lipsync to the album version of their song on a lot of these shows. here stevie is doing a live performance. way to be.

  • Stevie is beautiful now and then!

He was extremely intelligent at the age of 16 and he still is!

    Love you 4Ever Stevie!

  • I Love him! *.*

  • me too isnt he a special spirit xx

  • uptight is one of my fave stevie songs!!!! i listen to it every day!

  • That blind boy knew how to sing - ******* genius!

  • I rather liked the late Mike Douglas!! You probably had to watch his show to understand (and he wasn't hard to understand at all!! Mike Douglas would have on some of the coolest guest who wouldn't make it on other variety shows of the day!! Just search his name in YouTube, and you'll see what I mean...

  • @weenielongus You are so right! He had some amazing people on his show. I always watched when I was a kid. He had Gene Simmons on in like 1973. John and Yoko guest hosted for a week. I forget what year.

  • I love Stevie Wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but how patronising was that guy?!?!?!?!?!? "we who are lucky enough to have sight......." I know a few blind people who would kick him!

  • That's just how people were back then..

  • I never knew he was so young when he was first popular!!!

  • Not true...have you heard him recently? He sounds better than ever.

  • hearing stevie sing "a place in the sun", constantly brings tears to my eyes...a constantly overlooked, but classic track from stevie's vast treasure of a catalogue...

  • i love this song

  • No one ever said what a great singer he was and is.What a great singer. He masteres the vocals superbly.

  • I can't think of a single voice like his... paired with his brilliance for writing songs, this makes him one of the greatest things to come out of American culture. Ever.

  • Listen to Donny Hathaway

  • what a voice!! how good was he in his time...just awesome!

  • LOL! Come on..he's 16 here, and now he's 58!

  • Absolutely awesome.. My first exposure to Stevie Wonder was watching him on the Mike Douglas show on my grandmother's TV in the '70s.. This brings back memories.. Anyone know the date of this show?

  • I'd say it's around '66 since that's when the two albums came out

  • I believe it was 5 January 1967 or so.

  • 1966

  • Fantastic!!! Can you believe he was 16 in this video! And Place in the Sun has always been one of my favourite songs. It sounds fresh at each hearing. What a giant talent.
