she could've been in a coma and woke up from the shock of killing herself, she could've hated her weird dreams and wanted to get away, and maybe she liked her dreams and all her friends in them and wanted to stay forever.

I heard a theory that said that madotsuki was in a coma or something, so the fact that she coulnt leave her apartment was because it represented how she was unable to wake up, and when she killed herself was when she really woke up, so I think madotsuki had a happy ending after all.

When I got to the ending I was shaking and was heart broken and she clouded my mind for the last month with thoughts of why?!?!?!? Why would she do this!?!? Then I think to myself about how fucked up her life truly was because of the dream that simply showed it too. Then I made a theory that made me cry even more.

You know, even though I believe that she was merely ousting herself from a nightmare that she could have dreams in (I mean, the surrealness of the "real world" is too much for me to believe it was real to begin with), hearing this song after going through all of that really chokes me up. Ah, Kikiyama, you can creep me out, scare me shitless, make me laugh, and make me horribly depressed all at the same time.

The great thing about this game is how mysterious it all is.

Every time I hear this song I just get tingly in my stomach. It's just so... floaty and fairytale like. It's the perfect song to describe the ending to such a mind boggling and a confusing game. Even though the game basically has no storyline and has pixel graphics, it is one of the most complex, incomprehendable and terrifying experiences of my entire life. I know it's just a game, but... wow.

i can’t hit enter. i’ve grown to have madotsuki as my friend, for the last few days i’ve been playing yume nikki non-stop. i’ve been collecting all the effects, coming to my own theories why something is there, and exploring the world inside of her head. and i saw an ending where she jumps but it’s in the dream, so she falls out of bed. and i want her to open the door so badly. i want her to go outside and enjoy life. but she’s only a video game character sadly.

i remember when i first played through the whole game, and then watched madotsuki jump off the balcony. i cried so hard. i've felt sad about movies, and books, and games before, but never like this...this game is just genius and i get chills every time i hear this song. other people have good points too, you know, this game is so special and the fact that not one word is spoken the entire game makes it all the more chilling.

FruityLoops. There's others, but I don't recall. It would be best to look for sound sequencing programs, since that is another name for them. Audacity usually works best when you have an instrument to plug into the computer.

This track and the title theme should actually be swapped.

But the darker/premonition theme is the title theme, while the happier theme becomes the ending track. And it makes them both just feel emotional.

How can this be possible, the title track feel like entering a different world. The ending theme ( just play it on any instrument ) sounds like maybe a unforgettable note pattern from a popular song. Yet both sounds so sad.

Everything in the game is unbelievably, indisputably tragic. Though, those emotions weren't invoked until the end of the game. The ending was not sad by itself. It was sad because of how I really got to know Madotsuki, like no other character in any video game. The ending, paired with all of that, felt like I was watching someone who I cared deeply about jump, instead of some character. I really, really, really cried. Really shook and cried. That's the first time that ever happened to me.

Then again, with all the surreal locations and obscure doodles littering the landscape, you can make anything you want of the game. Sure the way to end the game is to collect all 24 effects and kill yourself, but the way to win it is to immerse yourself in the environments and try to make sense of all the imagery.
