  • I found another 7up cake recipe somewhere else and made it alot last year but now I am getting into making other types of cake.

    I was surprised you can use 7UP to make cake.

  • that looks awesome. I was just wondering does the fizz from the soda act as a rising agent for the cake? i dont think i saw you use any baking powder.

  • @taniariasmith Yes! The soda works as a rising agent. No baking soda needed

  • You are an amazing video producer. The volume of the music was perfect background noise to fully pay attention to the instructions. Also, the lighting was fantastic. The black and white photos added a nice professional touch as well. Over all, an amazing video.

  • Rosie you have such great recipes, I really enjoy your shares.:-) I have a question Rosie, I have all the ingredients for this cake except the 7up soda but I have Sundrop soda. Could I use that soda instead and if so will I need to change the extract flavor. thank you:-)

  • @Nanaslittleblessing I have never had Sun Drop. If it's not lemon flavored then yes. It will change the taste. I would stick with Lemon Lime Sodas. However, there are mountain dew cakes,root beers, and ect. You can make your very own Sun Drop cake ;-)

  • my cake did not come out well. Did I miss something? I followed you video . should I have used baking powder or baking soda? The cake is very dense.

  • @canarsiemarsie I made this same cake today. Mine came out fine. I used self rising flour and I also used baker's joy cooking spray in the cake pan before baking. I will make this icing tomorrow.

  • @canarsiemarsie Last year when I made one using my old recipe, it didn't rise and never got done in the middle.  Found out my flour was old and out dated. Didn't know.

  • @canarsiemarsie Pound cakes are typically a little dense, .but you need to beat the mixture for a while to get air in the cake. So for instance, I usually beat in my eggs one at a time...sometimes I'll throw in an extra egg white for fluffiness. Baking soda and powder are just for making the cake rise.

  • @annettemint Actually I was too cheap to throw my cake away. I sliced it and put it in the freezer. Few days later friends came by for coffee. Told them about the cake. Lets taste it.  The cake defrosted quickly. It was delicious. I got compliments. I think I jumped to conclusions ..................... like I always do...............sorry

  • Today I found your recipe. I had a dinner date, so I thought I would make this cake. I baked it for 70 minutes. I did not take it when I went to dinner. Thought I would try it myself first. Unfortunately it did not come out well. Glad I did not bring it to dinner. Did I miss something. I notice you did not add baking powder or baking soda. I did not use a bunt pan.

  • @SweetHuneyDipz No. You did right by buying the store brand flour. When it comes to flour, sugar, salt, and other "basics" save money and buy the generics. You're going to love the cake! XOXO

    when I make my cakes, I like to use swanson cake flour.

  • I've look at the instructions of the way u cook this 7-up cake, I know my eyes are not deceiving me. I did cook this 7-up cake and it was good. There's one ingredient that you forgot to put in your cake....SALT! When I fix another cake, do I put the 1/2 teaspoon of salt with the sugar & all purpose flour? What does the salt actually do for the cake? Thanks!!

  • i made the cake last night my only regret is that i didnt leave it in there for 60 minutes which the recipe said hour and five minutes this really is going to depend your oven next time 50-55 minutes and I used unsalted butter
