To me, the real key to having an LP show is to keep it about the games and having fun, whether you're failing or not.
And, yes, you have to keep the ego in check. I don't have an ego, so it's all good, lol. You just have to remember what (hopefully) got you into it in the first place. I started doing videos because it looked like fun and I'm, still having fun doing it, even when the games piss me off to no end, hehe.
Also, who needs a diddy? The games should speak for themselves!
Hey, I have a show, a-hole! And my "diddy" is only like 10 seconds long so choke it down and watch me!!! Unless you count the remix that Chris Holland did for me, then I have two I guess.
I agree about the LP's for guys that don't do commentary. That's basically what AVGN does; let's plays with bizarre commentary.
I loved the ending about people with theme songs on every one of their videos (Take the hint Aqualung, Zero Punctuation, AVGN, etc.). I also think LPing isn't a low form of entertainment, because when you capture something near-impossible in a game on camera, we all get entertainment and laughs out of it :)
Spoony has a song, WHATTHEBUCK, hotforwords, sxephil, even companies like IGN etc. I just think the same intro over and over for videos that come out every week. Its sad.
hes my thing. if its short, fine. if its long, thats fucked up. and yes, a full minute is too long (spoony and AVGN). make it 15 secs max and actually enjoyable (aqualung) then i dont care.
I'm not so much into LPs, I only watch your show... er... I mean videos along with some other dude on youtube, and neither of you does have a music intro.
However, a "Hello everyone" along with some kind of slogan that people can remember and connect with that particular LPer is something I like.
And if you think about the "big dudes of video game business" like the AVGN, I'd even go that far to say that a personal intro theme is essential. But thats just my opinion.
I like LP videos when the person LPing is funny in some way (whether they are witty or clever, or if they just curse the fuck off of some part they keep failing on and constantly load/save stating, LOL) and when they're not funny, a good Retsuprae makes it funny.
That said, this one kinda sucked other than the great points you brought up about LPers and everything, you just seemed so bored doing it.
which BTW, if you were doing that on purpose as a satire of bad LP videos, then just ignore me saying it sucked, but sometimes I just cant tell with you silly Goose, LOL.
I can't fucking stand LPers who sign made up lyrics to video game songs, or they sign the video game songs notes. It's alright in small doeses, but when it's done for the majority of the LP and they sign about what they are doing it's really stupid.
Um, was that water serving as an obstacle/hazard? If yes: but, it's a fucking duck! He could swim just like the turles and the NES TMNT! If not: my bad.
You should read Udolpho's writing. udolpho daught com -- he's somewhat like you: works with geeky techie types all day, but is a normal person who can't stand their silly arguments in favor of copyright piracy, taking their blogs so seriously, etc. He covers other topics too. just use his search bar.
LPs are fun because it's like when you sit and watch a friend play a game and you just talk and have a beer together (in some cases coffee), I've noticed in a lot of LPers that they say that people want them to fail, I'd rather see a triumph so I guess I'm special ;) (not really though I think a lot of people are like me)
I don't like LPers that take themselves to seriously, to them I say: Grow up, it's just for fun.
I think you win more subscribers with hunny than with vinegar. ;D
BTW: Love your videos man, although I would like to see them more often (But I guess you're busy with real life) but if you don't like a game then don't play it, play a game that's fun for you because it's the most fun to watch. :)
LP's are entertaining, because it's like if you're hanging out with your buddies and, you hand them the controller, and you watch them play. Plus, they're the ones doing any talking (if there is any).
So, there you go, it's entertaining because people don't have any friends :) jk
Oh Goose how do I explain why these are entertaining. These videos remind me of when I watched my cousins play video games growing up. Also the more frustrated you get the more you swear and it's funny. It's funny to see you come close to going legally insane because of these videos. Your on the fly song parodies are worth it as well and your opinions on current topics. I don't like intros as well Goose.
The main thing I don't like about lets players is they start thinking they are very important. Then they do the typical I hate my fans because [Insert reason]. It's funny but it seems like they all go down the same road. Except you of course goose you are the adam carolla of lets players hah.

You forgot kWing, who sold out recently, he had like 40-50 second intro to his videos.

XD Lucky I went into LPing because I enjoy video games rather than wanting to be famous.

For one thing, nothing is below mimes, except lawyers, politicians, and telemarketers, anyway.
I don't really have anything else, not sure why I decided to start with "for one thing" thar.

LPers who start taking themselves way too seriously is the #1 reason I unsubscribed to UltraJman over a year ago. XD
I don't think I've ever heard so much drama out of one boy's mouth.
