Ok... so I have watched this for the seventh time in the last twelve hours and I still feel like I'm going to cry when the lyrics say "We had no choice" and there is a shot of Legolas... oh gosh, stop making me cry... :'(
i wish that i was an elf in Middle-Earth, from Lorien. I also wish they didn't have to leave, it makes me cry to think of a Middle-Earth without them. :'(
Tolkien explained that Elves and Humans were made by chief deity (forgot his name) and Dwarves by one of his more creative offspring, but I don't recall Hobbits ever being mentioned in the stories of the First Age.
@KittyBoy96 The stories in middle-earth are sad and tragic. In this world we have Goldman Sachs, Rothchilds, Rockerfellers, Morgans, and the rest of the psychopathic corporatocracy and money powers who assume ownership of the Earth and everything in it. This is our Sauron to confront in this world.
@Ihaiara : If you mean the one in blue riding the horse in the left side of the picture, it's Arwen. That's the scene where she has the vision of her son. The rest of the elves are unidentified.
@LunyPurpleHat : Elves (besides Legolas) at the Battle of Helm's Deep?? No, that was a change made for the movie. I suspect Jackson wanted to acknowledge the continuing alliance between men and elves, and show that elves were part of the bigger war ... even though their part was mostly played out in the books through battles between Lorien and Dol Guldur.
@MountainDewFan8472 : Aside from Arwen, I believe all of the elvish characters from LOTR eventually passed over the sea to the Undying Lands. That would reflect the fact that they were either Noldorian or Sindarian, who pretty much all sailed west in the end. The ones who stayed behind would have been lesser elves (like wood elves), and didn't figure much in LOTR ... though there should be more of them in "The Hobbit."
I am very confused about the Elves and their background information that was greatly left out, where are the elves originally from, why is there different kinds, Is Elrond king of all the elves, why are they leaving "with few they have left" where are they going, LIKE GOD.
@thedruidsofkalimdor Elves originally from... Middle-Earth!!!... Some elves stayed in ME others went to Aman... Different kind of elves for same reason diff kind of people... Elrond is not king of all elves just the Noldor elves in Rivendell... BUT most of all they're leaving or rather returning because curse of Noldor is making them return just as was foretold... and they're returning so somber because they're a shame to the rest of the elves...
liv tyler was the ugliest elf they had ,,,aragorn should have booted her aside and shagged eowyn ,,but he wanted her for her fathers power and her dowery i suppose lolololol typical royalty and arranged marragies ...porper actors should get these jobs not the offspring of an outdated celeb ,,nepotism is rife in movies and the music scene i suppose
Eldar is just the elve's word for elf. There are actually three types of elf. The Noldor, the Vanyar and the Teleri. The Noldor would be most common to you, they are the elves of Rivendell and the Grey Havens, Arwen and Elrond for example. The Teleri had descendants known as Sindarin, or wood elves, such as Thranduil and Legolas, and the Vanyar never set foot in middle earth, however a descendent of theirs is Galadriel, they were known for their Golden hair
@Unevaluated well all that is truth except for Galadriel. She is a Noldor, her father is Finarfin, King of Noldors in Aman, and her mother is Teleri. She have her hair from her grandmother Indis (Vanyar).
@Unevaluated : Actually the Sindar are not equivalent to wood elves (a.k.a. Silvan). Silvan elves were primarily Nandorian in origin and, unlike the Sindar, never passed west of the Misty Mountains during the original Great Journey of the Elves. Silvan elves often were, however, ruled by Sindar ... as was the case with the wood elves of northern Mirkwood, who were ruled by the Sindarin elf, Thranduil.
@ThexNaaru : Valinor, Aman, and the Undying Lands are all names for more or less the same place. (I think technically Aman is a continent, and Valinor is a region of Aman where the Valar and the Eldar live.)
@nicoeste8765 middle earth existed once before the version in LOTR. When it was rebuilt, a part was made seperate from middle earth an inacccessible. Thats as general as i can make it otherwise id have to explain the fiction behind how this universe works.
@nicoeste8765 also known as Valinor, the home of the valar(minor gods who rule the world) and of the elves, including the ones who die in middle earth.
@TheGobbledeegoop : Actually, the Grey Havens was an Elven seaport on the western shores of Middle Earth, not far from the Shire. It was from the Havens that the elves would set sail for the Undying Lands, Valinor ... home of the Valar.
@nicoeste8765 actuly Sam were also sailed there after his wife's death. i got relived to hear that. cuz it's great that sam and Frodo got to see each other again :)
@FreakyGremlinDK : The books also indicate that Gimli got to accompany Legolas when he sailed into the west. So of the nine members of the Fellowship, only four didn't get to make the trip ... Aragorn, Merry, Pippin, and Boromir.
Elves are so cool. I often ask my dad "if you were a race in Lotr what would you be" and he says dwarf or something and i say elf. He argues that the elves are sad, and i argue back that they're awesome because of their emotion through history in Middle-Earth.
you know, i personally feel the main character in my book could take on legolas with a bow and most likely win seeing as she split a humans hat in two with about a seconds long time length aiming. she could definately kill him with a blade. i just want to see if she takes after her mum and dad.
@theseekersring yes yes I understand. if you wanna see the facts legolas was the prince of the woodland realm-one of the most dangerous places of middle earth- and he shot a goblin at his head and sticked him to wall while he was trying to stay in balance.
Is there no one who finds it odd that Elves, which lived there for thousands of year, were great crafters in all sorts, they still fought with a sword and they didn't blow the shit out of Orcs with a full automatic rifle? I know, bows are cooler and swords too, but hey , just thinking out of the box lads xD
I love the part where we see the twin reforging the sword, in case ppl hadn't noticed they are Elrond's sons. Elrohir the younger twin and Elladan the older twin. I love the vid. it compiles the elves scenes and i adore the movies mostly because of them. thank you for making the vid @ Entomofauna ^-^
ugh. the right hand is holy and good in EVERY ancient culture. it is where the waving of the hand comes from. please stop thinking everything you see is a nazi conspiracy.
It's strange. At the begin appear some scenes that I don't remember from the movies but I recognize inmediately from the book (the pass of High Elves in Old Forest when Frodo leave The Shire, and some scenes from Lothlorien). But they use same actors than in the movie. How do you got these clips?
@OnColdWings I totally love the Extended Editions. My fave part is wen the fellowship is being made in the meeting and you hear sorrown talk. and gandelf gets up and does a spell. ist just awsome.
@Entomofauna Can I correct something? The three Hobbits (pippin was not ) did not encountered the High Elves on the Old Forest! The encountered them when being chased by the dark knights , when saved by the High Elves...
Yes, you're right (sorry for delay in reply, my PC was broken). I associated just a forest in The Shire with this scene, but it was in the Closed Forest (actually an extension of the Old Forest, only the Brandywine river and few miles of prairies separate them). Thanks for correction!
@Entomofauna They were basically scenes that were cut out of the original film for various reasons (didn't fit in, movie became too long, poorly made etc)
@dizzleblackizzle I agree. In general both races are more superior to humans concerning aging, are very modest in showing emotions, are also more mysterious and advanced than humans. I like both races.
please find tell me where to find the /coming birth of hobbits. there is no account of it any where not even silmarillion. it explains the coming of elves, man ,orcs, (0not goblins actulally, but you can feel it while reading),the valar, the arda(earth).
hey guys i have read silmarilion, but it does not tell any thing of birth/coming of hobbits.
And gandalf is not a maiar or valar or iluvatar he just is a WIZARD they did not tell any one what they were but(only cirdan of havens knew what they were) just to elrond and lady galadriel.
and by the way they do die, saruman died in shire by the hands of wormtongue.
still maiar also not god.
even then they(maia) dies as did melian the wife if thingol.
get your statistics right before posting a comment
@darthandriou sorry i had read some wrong unauthentic essays(silmarillion hinted so too!!). but they were sent to fight sauron not morgoth. just reading the history of middle earth
hey can someone explain to me the ending of the lord of the rings, where did they all go, and why, also why did frodo haft to leave, and they couldnt join him, is it because he had worn the ring?
@brutyfruity They went to the Undying Lands a place where all elves go when they depart from Middle Earth. Ring Bears (Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf) were some of the only mortals allowed to go to the Undying Lands another mortal allowed to go was Gimli who became to first Dwarf to travel to the Undying Lands. Actually Sam ends up going as well at a later date since he to carried the ring for a short time.

please find tell me where to find the /coming birth of hobbits. there is no account of it any where not even silmarillion. it explains the coming of elves, man ,orcs, (0not goblins actulally, but you can feel it while reading),the valar, the arda(earth).
please tell me where to find hobbits.

@qaz010wsx The Hobbits are a branch of Men. And Gandalf is one of the Maiar, we're told that in the Valaquenta.

@qaz010wsx Orcs & Goblins are synonyms, goblin usually refer to those climby bastards in the mountains whilst orc is related to mordor.

hey guys i have read silmarilion, but it does not tell any thing of birth/coming of hobbits.

@qaz010wsx Yes Gandalf was a Maiar do some research online and you will see. I would post it here but it would take up to much space.

@qaz010wsx Gandalf and Saruman are Maiar who were sent from Valinor to serve Middle earth and protect people from Morgoth and Evil
Their solves are immortal, they have no body, but they take one to be visible to the people, that's why Gandalf came back at "the two towers"
darthandriou 2 months ago
@darthandriou sorry i had read some wrong unauthentic essays(silmarillion hinted so too!!). but they were sent to fight sauron not morgoth. just reading the history of middle earth

hey can someone explain to me the ending of the lord of the rings, where did they all go, and why, also why did frodo haft to leave, and they couldnt join him, is it because he had worn the ring?
brutyfruity 2 months ago
@brutyfruity They went to the Undying Lands a place where all elves go when they depart from Middle Earth. Ring Bears (Frodo, Bilbo and Gandalf) were some of the only mortals allowed to go to the Undying Lands another mortal allowed to go was Gimli who became to first Dwarf to travel to the Undying Lands. Actually Sam ends up going as well at a later date since he to carried the ring for a short time.
SolarisDeLuna 2 months ago
@SolarisDeLuna Gandalf is maiar, a god
so he is not mortal
darthandriou 2 months ago
@darthandriou Oh I didn't mean to say he was mortal I was talking about Frodo and Bilbo but worded it wrong. I know that is is immortal.
