  • i love you, like i am so so so so so so so thankful for you putting these on here. bright eyes is my favorite band. Thank you so much

  • nice job. nailed it buddy!

  • Whats the tuning for this?

  • Good playing and good ear, but not my favorite way to play it

  • it feels so weird not to sing to it from 2:40 on. Great vid!

  • 2:40 is feels so weird to not sing to that part. Great vid too btw

  • thank you!

  • Thanks for making this bro, Poison Oak was the first song I heard from Bight Eyes and I've been hooked since.

  • @xJesusCrisis Same here, it's also going to be the first song I learn of guitar

  • Wow, you're quite the prolific Conor how-to guy. Thanks for all these videos, because 1)conor is my hero, 2)i just got my first guitar, and 3)this is the first and only song I know how to play, because your vid helped me learn it. Woo! Thank you!

  • hey brother, thank you for taking the time out to make this video for us..

  • btw. This song is awesome. I'm begginer and I'm almost able to play it. So easy song and so good:)

  • cant pick up on the strum rhythm, halp?

  • down down down faster down down up down and remove one finger(change chord) and down?

  • thank you very much :] im a beginner at acoustic. sorry for noob question. i appriciate your help :]

  • no problem my friend. I'm begginer too! This song is so good and so easy - excellent to learn. Btw. Try to play "Perfect Sonnet" It's easier than "Poison oak" It has only 6 chords I think and you move only "down down down all the time"

  • Ne neither.

  • you are for sure my hero. I come to you first anytime i want to play a bright eyes/ conor oberst song!!

  • thanx dude i like this song.

  • I heaaart this song.

  • agreed.

  • Youre my hero [:

My dad was in a band all his life and told me he wouldnt teach me how to play guitar and i had to learn myself, and this whole time i made this song so much harder, i never knew the chords just played ones that sounded good.. Cadd9.. hah. [:

  • this is so helpful. seriously. thank you so much.

  • Can you make a video without singing ?

  • cheers (Y)

  • You can hear conor playing a small transition between the chord changes of A to A add11 ....... it goes like this A string----0-2-4 then on D string----0

he plays it backwards when he goes from A add11 to A

  • ahh! so glad i came across this!

    very helpful.

  • whats the strumming pattern?? :\

  • if youre a guitar player you can feel it

  • I wouldnt be watching guitar "how to's" on youtube if i was one..

  • me neither, well i dont know how to explain strums, i feel it in this song because i bought this CD when it came out, and its my very favorite song.

  • same chords as dry your eyes mate

  • okay im gonna sound like an idiot but how do you finger something like Dsus3 or like how do you know what that means? im totally new at guitar so any help would be steller! o yeah and great cover!!!!! haha

  • Dsus3 doesn't exist. Sus2 and Sus4 exist, though. just google chord charts.

  • Cheers, mate. I was getting a bit lost after the Aadd11, so thanks for that.

  • if you would like to know, the bass line between the A and Aadd11 is 0 2 4 on the A string. but other than that keep making videos. theyre great.

  • what the hell is the strumming pattern

  • Listen to the song, dude. You can hear the strumming patter in most songs if you listn to the guitar. Turn the treble down, if your speakers can do that, so you don't get bothered by the vocals whilst you listen for it.

  • you play ur Es weird :P

  • A lot of people have mentioned that to me. I taught myself to play guitar so I have been playing E's like that forever.

  • thank you sooo much for ALL of your videos... you are so helpful and you cover all the songs i want to learn!!! it's so perfect!!! THANK YOU!! (isn't it "i still believed in war", i was just wondering... no body else mentioned anything but...)

there should be a totem pole erected in your honor. :)

  • those might be the real lyrics...im not too sure.

    thanks for the nice comment!

  • amazing...wish i could play

  • Hey thanks man!! I really appreciate it!

  • I still don't understand the strumming :(

  • If you grew up with him I'm SURE you would learn to spell his name some where.... Right?

    Just checking.....

    (conor)

  • good stuff thanks for the Vid.

    Isnt it Connor lol:P

  • no, you're right, it's conor...

  • sweet this helps!

  • you're awesome..can you tell me the strummig?..i do not get it..

  • its kind of like this:

    a slow: 1..2...3

    then a quicker: 1,2,3

then: up, down, down, up, down, down (X2)

    hope that helps.

  • yes it does=) thanks..ya know I'm from Germany, my rhythm is fucked up (my english as well) but because of your videos I can play some of the these great songs and that makes me really happy..thanks a lot!

  • you are the one who is great.

  • wow, thank you very much, i had looked up some chords online but they didnt sound very correct. yours is spot on.

  • thanks a lot!

  • cool, im glad that it helped out.

  • thanks!

  • no problem!

  • YES!!!!

    THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!

    I've been waiting for this.

    You rock.

    -_-

  • thanks.

    you're welcome.

  • Thank You so much!!!

I remember sending you a message requesting this song.

Maybe, when I learn it I'll post a video ;)

    Thanks again. =]

  • cool, if you post a video be sure to let me know.

  • in the verses i think the chord after the A chord is XX0230;

and during the verses also i think it sounds more accurate if you strum the A chord and then go X02220 XX2200 X02220 and then into the XX0230 strumming

  • i think that they both sound right but i have watched a few videos of conor playing it just to be sure and i am pretty sure that it is -X00220

  • oh okay cool yeah i was just saying i didn't mean to sound like a know-it-all or anything

  • ditto, i also didnt mean to sound like a jerk. it sounds good/correct both ways.

  • Your awesome.

  • no, you are. and thanks.

  • thanks. hope it helped.

  • thanks a lot back to you

  • Woo! This song makes me happy :). I didn't fulfill my goal of recording some bright eyes covers over the summer.. i got really lazy! But definitely gonna learn this song...
