val, i think you sound like you're trying very hard to be above the orch here. please don't get me wrong, i admire you a lot, really, you're an amazing violinist. i just wanted to say, you should try to feel more comfortable and play as naturally as you do when you play with your sis.

this is a powerful piece of music, and I think Valerie handled it very well. So what? There were mistakes, but through time I think Valerie will correct them and become a fine musician. :D

Sure there are the obvious mistakes, but they were for the most part nerves. Perhaps she wasn't 100% ready for this particular performance (it happens even when you think you're ready). There was a ton of really special things. I have no doubt that she will go far.

PS. all the mistakes that I saw were because she was perhaps too emotional, more than she was technically ready to handle in performance in which case it isn't bad to hold back on physical expression, or until those parts are solid

She's 10 years old. That's very young to play such a difficult piece, especially with an entire orchestra behind and a large audience in front. And yet she pulled it off with courage and fire. So it wasn't perfect. Who cares? And I think you (FilipeBarrosAlves) must be either deaf, jealous, or simply heartless if you didn't hear the passion in her playing.

this is a great performance for a ten year old girl. any1 who says the contrary is wrong!!! there are some errors here and there but this is a 10 yr old. plus lalo symphonie espagnole is a torture for the left/right hands it has the most notes out of all major concertos. i spoke recently to vadim repin before he played lalo with the new york phil and he confirmed that reality about lalo. its a piece where u need 7 SENSES. VALERIE SEE U ONSTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's nothing wrong with the violin she's using. She's not ready for a master violin just yet.

This is exceptionally well played for her age. This is a difficult work, and possibly a bit over her head, but she handles it well. She doesn't overplay as much as she used to, although I do notice a few places that she seems to fight the orchestra. That will be corrected in time, as she matures and gains more control over the instrument.
