  • RIP Nicol Williamson

  • quiero saber mas de merlin mefacina hay algo muy raro

  • if you have faith, you will float on the dragon's breath

  • ANAAL NATHRAKH IS DA BEST BAND EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • The Charm of Making seems to have an excellent application for divining and centering...not sure if its due to tantric repetition or its seemingly non-intutive relation to english dialect. The way it's presented here, it could almost be a song? Next time you are at sea under a full moon..try it as the merlin does here

  • Anaal Nathrakh - The most extreme band in the UK.

  • Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha ... That was some very powerful shit...

  • Why such a disgraceful act from Merlin?

  • @healer378 Because you can't make omelettes without breaking eggs. He wants to see the land united so that the wars end. Regardless of Uther's failings, he has chosen him to unite it and even though he squandered it once, Merlin still has hope.

  • fuck yeah!!! Merlins chant was also used by Undertaker during the ministry days

  • @y2joct7 no it wasn't this is the undertakers chant , Merlin's is the celtic charm of making, undertaker was of evil

    Anail nathrak,

    Dorthnei diednei,

Accept the Lord of Darkness as your savior,

    Bathnal nathra, de era

Allow the purity of evil to guide you.

    Anail nathrak, Dorthnei diednei,

    Anail nathrak, de era umbra

  • @CeasarDracul do you follow Dobb's works?

  • @pmgrantz no i havent heard of dobbs works. what is it?

  • @CeasarDracul it sounds sooo much like takers WM15 entrance namely the accept the lord of darkness part

  • @y2joct7 @y2joct7 no i'm going to sound like a derp, but believe it or not, I found one of the versions that actually had Merlin's voice it it.

  • mAN. THE ocean of unconscious meaning ascribed within his every action. He screams to wake from the nightmare of 'reality'...

  • It is interesting..The dragon was seen as bit like the holy spirit, it was considered the serpant energy of the earth, personified as dragons, snakes and serpant like creatures it made the ley lines and holy wells. It was connected to agriculture, growing things and precious metals from the earth. Hence dragons often in myth guard gold etc. The Celts called where the earth, sea and sky met the dragons eye.The mythical dragon, also represented all the elements. It was death- but life too.

  • Serpent’s breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making

  • my parents showed me this movie when i was like 8 or 9. its been 15 years and i still love it

  • THE DRAGONS BREATH

  • ANAAL NATHRAKH ! \,,/

  • Of course, wikipedia is total crap, you know that right?

  • Blessed be!

  • @Brianboro67 Well I'm Nimue and I have a friends called Merlin so we'll see what we can do!! ;-)

  • best merlin ever

  • @Brianboro67

ha ha ! Europe needs more Merlins !!! maybe we can find Merlin in Brittany (France)

  • @AteneadeSantiago

Alas, Merlin didn't go to Brittany. Morgana did, though!

  • This spell that Merlin chanted is a Key-Spell to the Spirit-Realm. I have this spell

  • This spell that Merlin chanted is a Key-Spell to the Spirit-Realm

  • )O( The Charm {Spell} Of Making ~ Correct Pronunciation & Transliteration! *** Anáil Nathrach, Urðth'vás Bethöd, Do'chiel Díenvë ! *** )O(

  • i found this at wikipedea in the english version about the film excalibur

    Anál nathrach,

    orth’ bháis’s bethad,

    do chél dénmha

In modern English, this would be translated as:

    Serpent's breath,

    charm of death and life,

    thy omen of making.

i think this is very intresting

  • merlin a future incarnation of doctor who.

  • @Brianboro67

    *That's it!*

Anál nathrach, orth’ bháis’s bethad, do chél dénmha

"Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making."

  • Excellent Flick!

  • Autotune this please!

  • Damn, that must be some good pussy for uther to ruin the aliiance for, LOL!

  • LUST is such a powerful "magickal weapon", when used correctly I might add! ;o) *mirror kisses*

  • By far the greatest of the Arthurian movies.

  • Shame there is no Merlin today...it would be awesome to have one come along and sort things out.

  • Anal nathrak, ursbath bethud dorie vien de. Awesome!

  • Where's the scene where Uther seduces Igrayne?

  • Sounds like Elvish from LOTR...

  • I love this scene, it brings the mysticism out in the myth. The theme has never been better presented.

  • Anal ? Merlins a pervert...

  • Really disturbing when he spell the charm of making...

  • Helluva film this - Boorman certainly knows his mythology. Beautifully photographed from start to finish - a film that cannot fail to arouse unconscious archetypes in the deepest sleeper. I just wish there were more films as good as this. Ah, well...

  • @zthetha

Boorman knew how to present mythology on the big screen - no compromises, no "making characters more human". Uther sacrifices kingship for lust and Arthur sacrifices love for kingship, driving his queen into the arms of another. In the end, both lose what they built because they cannot find balance. The symbolism Boorman uses is ingenious (Percival only being able to find the grail once he casts off his armour and once more reduces himself to the level of the peasant boy he was etc.)

  • @ohauss Great insight on the characters in the movie. They do not make them like this anymore.

  • It's ancient Irish

  • I have heard this in some heavy metal song, but I have no idea where.

  • Anaal Nathrakh brilliant band btw peeps

  • I love Merlin!!!! Wish I was in that time by his side!!!

  • YOUR LUST WILL HOLD YOU UP!!!

  • Writing a book and seeking similar language any scholars or guidance would be welcome .. and the name is one I use in a role playing game .. with I ad respect.

  • Have spent since the early 80s researching Merlin's chant. I have a different translation of The Charm of Making than what is typically offered online as Old Irish.

If someone is interested in different translation comprised of different cultural influences magically, please write to me SabrinaArt@AOL

and I will share my findings.

    blessings,

  • @Brianboro67

Thank you for taking interest in my comments and interrogations about the language used by Merlin when uttering the Charm of Making. I'm not a specialist of Celtic languages and I appreciate your shedding light upon this particular aspect of John Boorman's Excalibur.

Hail Merlin of Carmarthen, the last of the Istari!

  • Merlin the magician was the antithesis or alter ego of Moshes the biblic character.

    The satanic version of Moshes.

  • @SpanishUFOonline

    That's pure bs.

Don't confuse our Celtic heritige with the Hebrew one

  • Omg i just love Merlin role here - Nicol Williamson as Merlin created a perfect full character. Just listen his trembling vibrating voice, his lightining gaze, his gestures, his humor ... I mean all ... a TRUE MAGE :)

  • Regarding the reference to Elvish languages in The Lord of the Rings, it must be noted that even if they seem Celtic, these tongues are purely Tolkien's creation, based upon his knowledge of Indo-European, Finno-Ugric and Semitic languages. For instance, the Elvish for "human", adan, plural edain, is typically of Hebraic inspiration.

  • The Charm of Making is awesome and I shiver when I utter it. Anáil naþrach, urð'vás beþöd, do'chiel díenvë ! Breath of serpent, spell of death and of life, thy omen of making. Must be Old Gaelic or Proto-Celtic. In Old English, it would be something akin to : snacan æþm, gealdor déaþes and lífes, þín frumsċeaft-forebódung.

  • still as powerful as ever it was.

  • I've only realized it now, but the sets built for movies like excalibur really are incredible.

  • When you have no CGI, you have to actually build something that stands up to scrutiny--that's the same reason the old Star Wars movies had such excellent sets, compared to the sterile, lifeless stuff you get today. All the objects on the screen were something you could actually touch, so the sense of realism was many times stronger, and the attention to detail much closer. One math freak sitting in a cubicle can't build a battlement for an actor to stand on, after all.

  • @smmclaug So true!!!, you said it perfectly! these older movies are just so much more tangible! The older sets, another example - Conan the Barbarian were sweeping and REAL. The new ones DO look so flat and lifeless!!

  • The Power of the Mantric Repetition... and idea creates a form.. the form transform the real world... the grand secret of the Alchemists!

  • To his credit, Nicol Williamson was the scariest Merlin I have ever seen on screen.

  • Aye.

  • Yes... Is the Power of the Word... a grand power known and seek by hundred of men all history.

  • Anaal Nathrakh! awesome

  • is it me or does this same spell get used in lord of the rings ?

  • Is not

  • is too lol, i think its old english as in Anglo Saxon.
