However i do believe that some modern music can be made to be great; what separates good music from great music is talent; and Beethoven had talent in the spades. To compose a major movement of a symphony on par with beethoven's works is beyond the ability of most modern composers. To take a popular song and transform it into something instrumentally, harmonically, and structurally astonishing would take a tremendous amount of refinement.
