Kind of a french Hollis Brown ballad. Refrain : " Pauvre Martin - Pauvre misère, Creuse la terre Creuse le temps" (Poor Martin, Poor misery- Dig the earth - Dig the time) . Brassens is one of the best song writers of the second half of the 20th.

@545RealMadrid le génie de BRASSENS c'est qu'il est aimé par tous et que tout le monde veut adapter ses chansons et ses textes et à tout type de musique. Faut reconnaître qu'il est devenu universel . Il est aimé aussi bien chez les francophones que les anglophones ou russes. Il ne faut donc pas le cacher dans des musées ou des placards en prétendant qu'il est seulement français. J'ai bien aimé cette version du PAUVRE MARTIN. J'ai commencé à aimer et écouter Brassens dans les années 70.

En effet si on demande aux jeunes s'ils connaissent Brassens, ils répondent non ou bien reposent la question "c'était un homme d'état?" ce qui est grave.
