She sounds completely knackered after singing this aria badly. Was she able to finish the whole opera. I am a great fan of this singer, when performing the old repertoire but singing Verdi requires a completely different voice. How strange for her to have performed this.
This is not the best version , but she's a super great . the best version of " sempre libera " ( for me ) is with Francesco Maria Piave & Giuseppe Verdi.
Not great but I thought the description comparing her to Florence Foster Jenkins was a large exaggeration UNTIL 5:31....she sounds JUST like her there.
what kind of snobby stuck-up talking is this about violetta? like youve all sung it and been blessed by the gods for it or what? you try and give a performance LIKE THAT ONE and then we'll see if you keep on posting comments like that...
Shes a lyric soprano and sempre libera is not her strongest but it is very good still. ive seen the whole opera and i can say that for once here we dont have a soprano who follows the rule that violetta should be awfully sung in the final acts. her voice stays beautiful all throughout the rest of the opera even when she is dying.
sembra una voce dei primi del novecento anke se la tecnica di quei tempi era ferratissima questa invece fa skifo ha tutta la voce indietro nei passaggi sul do...veramente orribile x essere una cantante dei giorni nostri!
its true that violetta isnt her forte..but i actually do like her performance to an extent- its not as bad as you make it out to be- maybe she was having a bad day? anyways i do believe she is better in baroque music but at least she tried this
I like the music, I like the singer. But here she acts just like a retard. I`m serious... that`s the production`s fault!

Doesn't sound very bad to me. To the average opera-enthusiast, it's actually very good.

She is prestige and genius. I keep her safe in my heart. She is in the Book of Life. I am in love. Danke Schon!

She's only singing with half her voice. Her throat is closed thus resulting in that sqeaky, nasal sound. Violetta requires a more dramatic voice

.. well..
I much prefer her in baroque stuff.. that's for sure

It's true that Violetta is not her role. Despite that, she is incredible in Baroque opera - it's her forte. :)
