i recently got the g30 compact in .45 cal like it alot but for winter ccw only. Feel its to big to wear in summer. Any choices for a subcompact or smaller gun for summer use for me? Anyone's thoughts welcome. THANKS
Hi youtube, i have a BRAND NEW never used P228/P229 hogue rubber grips, i mistakenly ordered them for my Sig P238 but i didnt read the website carefully enough so i am selling them for $8 my mistake could be your win let me know whats up by PM or response
oh and i mean a pistol that is around a 9mm and has good controlabilty. what is ure opinion (or anyones) on a good tactical handgun for a small hand? thanks again:)
tell em nutn! i bougt a "compact" handgun recently. it's one hellofa great handgun but, IT AINT A COMPACT!!! it's way to bug for me to even carry as a side arm duty weapon. now ime stuck witha great pistol but i can't really shoot, it. if you want me to send it to you so you can review it let me know. are there any ccw sa pistols that fit a hand that wears a small mechanix wear glove? thanks for ure reviews and all the families hard work and sacrifice.
lol... Compact doesn't mean lightweight. Compact just means short in height and length and maybe in width compare to full size. Weight is of course maybe a few oz lighter. And what you compare with the Keltec, kahr, and other is consider a subcompact if not in the pocket pistols market. And yes I carry my gun almost every where I go, otherwise if area is not allow, like in TX 3006 places. Oh. I carry a PPS, but Im been enjoying carrying more my P99AS gen3.
I love your videos! I've been watching lots of them. I'm getting my CPL soon and I'm thinking of going with the P238. Thanks for all your information, I really appreciate it.
Haha always love your reviews they are relaxing to say the least. My 2 cents is the clothing and neighborhood dictate my ccw the last few months its been the Sig P220R/P226E2 on me every single day however I totally agree as far as comfort i LOVE my Kahr. just remember my friends ccw is supposed to be comforting not comfortable :) God Bless
My daily CCW is a S&W 6906, good gun, but has some weight. Soon as I get some spare cash I'm getting a Kel Tech. Great Video Nutnfancy, keep up the great work.
hey guys love the videos. keep up the awesome work. I was curious if you all would ever do a video on the Makarovs specificly the 380 acp(ij-70 17A) as it has a longer barrel and such. Id like to know your thoughts on that particular gun.
hey nutnfancy, first off i love your video's, and they have guided many of my knife and gear purchases. Im looking for a concealed carry 9mm and i have one requirement besides the normal small size needed for a concealed firearm. I have to have enough room for my pinky on the grip, this rules out a lot of guns because i have rather large hands. What pistols would you recommend handling and considering for me. thanks for any help you can give me, and continue to make vids and give good advice
the kahr pm9 is a great gun i love it. i carried it for a full year and just last november got a kimber pro carry II. if you want a carry thats light and comfy carry the kahr or keltec. i have no issue with the kimber, though i am big guy (6'2 245lbs). Great video Nutn!
@Aguywholovessmosh Both his boys are trained in firearms safety since they were very small children. They go out with the family and camp and exercise and have fun. One thing they are NOT doing is hanging out on YouTube, writing nasty stuff on other people's videos because they are being basically parented by a computer because their parents ignore them...sound familiar? -- Veri (Nutn's sister)
@Aguywholovessmosh as a matter of fact you are correct. You have seen in the news what happens when a kid finds a "hidden" gun. They need to grow up around them to never mistake them as toys
@Aguywholovessmosh its a lot more mature than not letting them anywhere near a gun until they turn 18 and then just let em have at it with a weapon that they have no idea how to be safe with
@sownindishonor15 You 'can' but what if you live in Arizona or Florida and it's 120F? What if you're a 115 lb 5'2" woman, especially an attractive 5'2" woman who wants to show some curves?
For the role of a CCW, there's really no reason to carry a full size firearm, or even a 'compact.' Your potential engagement will occur at < 5yds, you won't be need a 8" long 35 oz super accurate/powerful gun.
If you can't get the job done with a subcompact Glock, PF9, etc then you shouldn't be carrying.
@seventhSabra ... I CCW a G29SF, it's a little thick, but I can always incorporate it and I'm a 6'1" svelte/athletic 170lbs. I don't mind the extra bulk as it brings the comfort that I can stop anything on 2 or 4 legs (I live in the Santa Monica mountains and we have Coyote, Cougar, Rattlesnake; and while I'm very accurate with all calibers, I'm best with 10mm.
Amazing preparation, oratorical organization and vocabulary choices all across the board, Nutn. I truly hope you will inspire some of your viewership to read and build interpersonal skills/communication skills as well as gear appreciation and shooting skills.
I watch your videos really just to hear your presentation, and secondarily to see and put the gear on my shopping list.

Man, you're incredibly long-winded. You used 16 1/2 minutes to say what I can say in a few sentences. Pistols come in various sizes, including pocket, sub-compact, and compact versions. If you're shopping online, check the measurements. In a store, handle it. Smaller guns are easier to carry, but often have smaller ammo and greater recoil. Tiny pocket pistols can also be difficult to grip when firing. Many choose sub-compacts or compacts for that reason. Find the best balance for you.
LOL. Well, he's posted 836 (at this time) perhaps equally long-winded videos, so you certainly have plenty to listen to. At an average of 16 minutes, that's a total of roughly 13,376 minutes or 223 hours. Unlike you, I'd rather not sit through all that just to obtain a comparatively small amount of real info.
Nutn - can you tell me about the grips you have on the P3AT in this video? I've been looking for nice rubber grips for my P3AT but can't find anything made specifically for it. Thanks!
I agree that the P228/229 is a tad heavy (and bulky) for ALL-THE-TIME carrying (depends on the clothing IMHO) but I just love mine. And I (emphasis on " I ") find it adequate for almost-all-the-time carry gun haha although having heard of a guy who prevented an assault by killing two of the three assailants that were out to get him with a Beretta Tomcat I'm looking into that PF9 and S&W's airlite revolvers, considering sometimes their practicality means u can take them in a "grab n' go" manner
watching this video made me long for my old sig p228. The first handgun I owned. I loved that gun and shot it well. Never a malfunction and extremely accurate. I fell on financial hard times and sold it for a riduclously low price. Now Im doing fine financially but I cant get a p228 new any more, and even the used ones are more expensive than what I paid for mine new.
Agree it is too large and heavy to comfortably carry every day.
major factor is the size and location of your holster and what sort of person you are, interesting fact, many female CCw carriers carry larger pistols than equivalent male CCW carriers since their toting their gun around in there purse
Carrying concealed is not supposed to be comfortable. It is supposed to be comforting.
I carry a P229 regularly, I used to carry a Glock 22. From what I've learned your holster and carry method should be just as important as your choice in firearm to carry. If it is not comfortable, you will not carry it, but with the right holster and carry method, just about anything can be comfortable.
hey nutn can you show us some self defense like What you do if some one were to attack you or robe your house like the stances what would be good to carry or have at your side for an imergancy
I really like Nutn's videos and opinions, but I still have major issues with the idea that a gun is a good EDC just because it's light and carries well. The problem I have is with Take-Down. I completely agree that if it's heavy, some people will stop carrying it. So... they need to suck it up and stop worrying about perfect comfort. The philosophy should be: What do I want in my hand if I ever DO pull my gun? Personally, I'll stick with a .40 caliber or better.
im pretty sure that the usp compact is truly compact in comparison to the usp. Which i might be crazy and one of the few who assume that hk was trying to make a smaller more compact version of the usp when they made the usp compact. Compare apples to apples my friend before going crazy on hk. maybe your right about sig idk i dont bother with them but is the usp compact more compact than the usp. Yes and so is it a lie, not at all. Com'on man
HAHAHA!! Dude the term groupthink is NOT and I repeat NOT your term. It is a technical concept in human psychology that has been discussed for more than a century.
@Blazen1212 To be fair, it's possible to invent something without it being original. Nutnfancy might be interested in the social psychology concept as well though.
I love the XDm 4.5 and went for the 'compact' XDm 3.8".
Although it is indeed smaller it is no where near the PF9 or PM9...
May have to re-think my POU (term I had not heard of but makes sense) for 'compact'... but then again I like the controllability of the XDm compact and not sure I would be as comfortable with a smaller 9... and not sure I want to grab another caliber to go to 380... ohh the decisions we face.
Great video, thanka a lot for posting. I didn't know about the Kel-tech PF9, P3AT, or the Sig P238.
Here in the People's Democratic Republic of California, especially here in the Freedom Zone of Los Angeles, the idea of concealed carry is like how Liberals look at the 2nd Amendment; you have the right to own, doesn't mean you can have one. So LA has conceal carry permits, they just never issue any.
I CC a CZ-75 compact.... if you can't conceal and carry a compact pistol or at least research the dimensions of a firearm before you purchase it to make sure they're appropriate for your needs.... you are probably incapable of effectively using a firearm for any practical purpose and should just leave it in the safe.
To say that smaller versions of full-frame pistols are only appropriate for shoulder holsters or open carry is simply projecting your own personal limitations on others.
@baby2kent You're right, most people don't. I don't either. I carry a COMPACT version of a full frame handgun. All people need to do is research their purchase. If I manufactured a product and called it "The Greatest Thing Ever" would you buy it just from the name? Identify your requirements, research the options, and buy intelligently. Crying about terminology is a waste of time.
@JediDachshund Did he not specifically say "for MOST people"? How many times does the guy have to tell us "your mileage may vary" and that he knows lots of permit holders CC full-size pistols, and he respects others' opinions? To say he's "projecting his own personal limitations on others" is an unfair criticism. At least he's taking the time to post information that many people will find helpful. If you feel you have better information, by all means post your own video.
to me full size is competition or service. compact is service or "all around" gun. subcompact and pocket is CCW. but yea, i agree with everything your saying. just that i think nowdays with younger generation of people. we all "group think" agree with you :)
totally agree with you on the "terminology". but with terminology i also think it has a lot to do with the different generations of people. back when the 228 came out. and i do mean 228 not the later 229, that was a compact pistol. not tell 09 and now 2011 do they have the subcompacts and "pocket pistols". im probably totally wrong on dates :) sorry. but for me i agree, as soon as i think of "carrying" i want a subcompact or pocket pistol. not compact.
Hello I am at the nut n fancy gun store and I am a disabled 35 year old male who was recommended by the local police department to get my concealed carry permit. i have about enough to get the .380 hi point handgun. What would you say to me.
I love the P238, but I'd like something like the Kahr or the Kel-Tec (a 9mm), but with an external safety. I like the PX4 subcompact except the manual safety on it is not as easy to release as I think it should be. Anyone know of any? Great videos Nutnfancy. I like your attitude. Smart, clear, and no swagger bs that gives responsible gun carriers a bad name.
@moshker why not something like glock or springfield that have safe action triggers. also the ruger sr9 has an easy to get safety. or so i think. they make a compact sr9 too.
Good video. I'm currently shopping around for a good concealed carry handgun. I live in Florida, so for most of the year it's going to be impractical I think to carry a larger weapon. No bulky clothes. Just a couple concerns I have: 1) I have larger hands, so I'm wondering if I will run into any issues firing such a small gun, and 2) why is every single compact handgun silver? All of the ones you featured, and all the ones I have found so far, all silver. Don't care much for silver.
@Spectre426 My wife has a Kahr CW9 that I try to swipe from her as much as possible. I put a Hogue Handall Jr. on the grip and it fits my larger hands very well but is still good for her hands. Watch out though, it can grab clothes.
As for the finish, after you select a handgun you can *probably* special order a different finish, you can re-coat it yourself (Dura-Coat is one product) or have a smith do it for you. Who cares though if it is going to be concealed?
I was curious and I'm sure this is taught during the process of getting a permit to carry a concealed firearm, but when is an appropriate time to pull out a pistol to use for defense?
You had it right in the beginning. The 228 is a great carry pistol. I personally carry one about 90% of the time. Of course, there are times that it won't work. I did have an LCP and a 642 for those time... thanks to a different video you did I now have the PF-9 for those times. All are great guns, but the 228 is simply a dream to shoot and gives me double the capacity. Maybe not for you, but some of us still love the old Sig warhorse.
An IWB holster with a double stacked .40 and at least two spare mags is my daily carry piece. In warmer weather I have been known to carry two Colt Det. Specs. with two speed loaders. I was taught years ago that the fastest reload was a second weapon. I was also impressed with the fact to always carry enough gun to handle a small riot. I don't think the smaller pistols in smaller calibers will always save your hide. Larger cals. and more ammo seem to make more sense to me. Keep it handy always!
@Tox927 Also, a P2000sk is still too big as per nutn's definition of compact (the one the dictionary has). It is 7" long, 5.04" high, 1.34" wide, and weighs 24 oz. One of nutn's examples, the SIG P238 (in .380), is 5.5" long, 3.9" high, 1.1" wide, and weighs 15.2 oz. SIG is even coming out with the P290 (in 9mm); 5.5" long, 3.9" high, 1.1" wide, and 20.5 oz. Sorry, I think what bothers myself (and Nutn apparently) is when people claim something is compact (literally) and it isn't.
@Tox927 I'm sure he is aware of the difference between sub-compact and compact. However, when SIG came out with the P228 compact pistol he took that word (compact) literally and it turned out it wasn't literally compact. "Compact" is a gun industry term that describes a number of pistols that nutn doesn't consider compact as per the dictionary definition. Therefore, it is a misleading term that nutn wanted to clear up.
@iMagUdspEllr "Compact is a gun industry term that describes a number of pistols that nutn doesn't consider compact as per the dictionary definition." ----- I cannot believe you just said that. really??? Whats the dictionary definition of a compact handgun? Get off nutnfancy's balls. He is really not that cool.
@ABorell12 He is just illustrating how much of an oxymoron a "compact" handgun is. However in reality "compact" handguns aren't really compact and sub-compact handguns fit that definition much better. The reason why the term "sub-compact" was invented was because they already labeled larger guns "compact" so they had to make up a word for something smaller (which kinda proves that they weren't so compact to begin with). That is the point he is trying to make and you are failing to grasp.
compact- "arranged within a relatively small space" Those guns are not so small relative to other designs. Which is why nutn is trying to point out that fact and tell gun owners to stop kidding themselves about how "compact" their compact handguns are.
i have carried a P239 .40 caliber in a shoulder holster (vertical carry) during the winter. It just shoots so well. I can only carry it maybe 3 months out of the year. Winter is coming soon. :)
A good IWB holster will literally solve the bulky carry gun problem. With a Crossbreed holster I have no problem carrying a thick & heavy pistol. Small guns are better for experts.. Many of the guns mentioned are mouse guns, better than nothing but hard for beginners to use properly.
I just watched this one for the first time. Nicely done on comparing the various "compact" (sub-compact?) options that are available. Based a lot on your reviews, I chose to go with a SIG P239 and just acquired a Ruger LCR for my wife. SIG has started showing people their new sub-compact 9mm the P290. You can find it on their web site if you google "P290". They say the weight with magazine is 20.5 oz. and the capacity is 6-8 rounds suggesting 2 or more mag. options. No idea on pricing yet.
You're videos are informative and well done. I'm glad I stumbled across them. One suggestion: Since you have so many subscribers and followers of your videos, it might be a good opportunity to put a small blurb - maybe text - to encourage viewers to join the NRA if they aren't already a member. Keep up the great work!
@ZoneIII Nutn is adedicated member of the NRS and frequently encourages others to join in his videos..there is also a blurb about it on his channel page..under the "about me" section. =) -- Veri
@nutnfancy That's good. Of course, you mean the NRA. I'm a little confused that you are referring to nutn in the 3rd person, though, since your reply is from nutn. :-)
@ZoneIII It IS confusing, and apologies for that. I'm his sister, and go by "Veri" online..and also secretary to TNP and use his account a lot...and yes, that NRS was a typo..to add to the confusion. Nutn is a HUGE supporter of the NRA.
@nutnfancy I forgot to mention that what I was suggesting is that you put a little blurb in every video - not necessary a verbal blurb but possibly a little text overlay. I never cease to be amazed (and disappointed) by how may people say they are big supporters of the 2nd Amendment and yet they never bother to join the NRA. This channel would be an excellent vehicle for encouraging them to join.
haha i carry an HK USP .40 fullsize everyday. I am only 5 ft 7 inches. I still carry it. I also carry a sig p229 .40. I also carry a HK USPc .40. I carry everyday. Period. So you can bring your Kel tec Pf9 and hopefully it wont jam on you. hopefully something wont break on you. I really hope that doesnt happen. But if you want a quality gun that absolutely will not do those things to you. BUY QUALITY FIREARMS. BUY HK, SIG, or GLOCK. Dont be a baby and cry about the weight or size.
@ABorell12 He isnt talking about quality he is talking about size mostly. a kel tec can still drop someone easily with the correct placement of the bullet. size doesnt always matter, which is good for you little stubby :D lol.....5'7? rofl....
Compare that HK USPc to your glock 19 and they are about the same size, but you wouldnt wanna diss your glock now would you nutn. They are really about the same size and weight almost about the same. Glock calls their 19's compact dont they? didnt hear anything about them.
@ABorell12 He doesn't care about the manufacturer. He just hates the gun industry term "compact". He is basically just saying that sub-compact pistols are the truly compact guns (as per the dictionary definition). Sorry you are so butt-hurt about him picking on HK. He also picked on SIG (one of his fav gun manufacturers). BTW the Glock 19 is ~5 oz lighter than the USPc and carries 2 more bullets... with an extension it carries 4 more and you can use the 17s mag with an extension giving it 6 more
@iMagUdspEllr A glock 19 (9mm) mag carries 15, a HK USPc (9mm) mag also carries 15. And if you put an extension on it, it wouldnt be "compact" anymore either now would it? I know about glocks and their magazines and everything ok, I own glocks too, I am just saying, for basically the same size, and weight,(5oz really aint a lot of weight difference there buddy), Id definitely pick the HK USPc. Shit you can even get a .40 and carry 12 rounds of .40 for same size gun. Id def rather do that 2
@ABorell12 Unless I'm looking at the wrong gun the HK website says it holds 13 rounds in 9mm. 5 oz is the weight of a knife (for example... nutn uses that one often). But that aside the Glock wins... whether it is by 1 oz or 5 and the HK isn't offering anything in return. Why would you have 5 more oz for no reason? I do like the .40 cartridge but in smaller, lighter guns (ones that are meant to be concealed) that .40 cartridge will be much harder to shoot than a 9.
@iMagUdspEllr Ok look man, its really not that hard, glock is a great gun. really nice gun, i have some. Speaking from personal experience shooting H&K in 9mm .40 and 45acp, I will tell you that shooting a .40 out of HK USPc doesn't feel like a .40 it feels like a 9mm. HKs have a recoil reduction system and they arent lyin. it works. If you have ever shot one, you would know this. I would take 12 rounds of .40 over 15 of 9mm ANYDAY. Period. Bottom Line: GLOCKs are good, but H&Ks are better
@ABorell12 The recoil reduction system doesn't reduce recoil. It spreads it out. It isn't as violent but you will still be out of battery longer than if you shot a 9mm round. Don't kid yourself the HK koolaid is for people who want to pay for something that isn't there. My colt python doesn't feel like a .357 magnum because I'm not a bitch. So what is your point? I shoot it better than my other pistols. I can shoot a 9 faster though.
@ABorell12 Thats great if YOU will take fewer rounds of .40 than more rounds of 9mm. But it gets to the point where it is way more reassuring having 4 left in the gun than 1. It doesn't matter how good you are you can't stop 3 people with one bullet. (But I mean I guess I'm a douche for assuming that you would miss or that the almighty .40 will instantly stop a bad guy and the wimpy 9 will only make them mad).
@ABorell12 As far as I have seen HKs have not proven to be better than Glocks performance-wise. And even if they did they would have to justify being $400 more expensive.
@ABorell12 In this specific usage for a gun I would rather not use the cartridge that has more energy because it is in a smaller, lighter gun and I want to be able to make follow up shots as quickly as possible (just because I'm likely to miss under stress). The 9mm helps two-fold in this regard because of the lighter recoil and I find that a couple more rounds to be more comforting than just one slightly larger round (that is assuming I miss more than half of my shots but anything can happen)
@iMagUdspEllr ALL of those guns he threw up there are SUB COMPACT. Not COMPACT. There is a difference. You cant compare sub compact guns to compact ones and say they are not compact because they are not the same size as these sub compact guns. that makes no sense.
@ABorell12 No shit. That is the point. "Sub-compact" exists because guns that were labeled "compact" weren't. So they were like, "Duhh um dees are smalla dan duh kompakt ones so what does we call dem?" Thus the word "sub-compact" was born. The gun industry caught wind that people wanted/needed smaller guns and released "compact" guns. They weren't so they had to make smaller ones to accomplish the mission. Yay! Sub-compacts were born. That is the point man.
hey nutnfancy, nice vids. i'm planning on getting my concealed carry permit. I live in northern Maine, where weather conditions constantly change, out of all the concealed carry weapons you know of, what would you reccomend for people like me who live in extreme climates?
You single out SIG, but Glock calls the 23 and 19s compact and they aren't either. You have to go to the 26 and 27 to really be compact. The Glock 17 is a waste of space because it can't do anything that the 19 can't. Similarly, there is no real advantage to the P226 over the P228/229.
@ncmigbuaiitars He is also refuring to the Glocks. I use a G23, but really its not much smaller than the G22 full size or hell, even the G35 for that matter with it's extended slide. The 23 is my favorite and I have no problems carrying it hidden so no biggie but small like a Kahr PM9 like he mentioned, it is not. Just depends on each person and what they are comfortable with
LCR update concealed carried it for about a year, 300 -400 rds through it. no problems awesome trigger, wish had good sights . Once I had the grip loosen up on me b/c the screw loosened up. thanks for the vids , integrity, and just being a good dude on the tube, thx to veri for helping tnp 2.
I just purchased a Sig P229 with the purpose of being my daily CCW. Previous choice was the Glock 22, even so the p229 is heavier, its geometry and size are my reason for the switch. Great gun, go to war ready...
Other things I love about my Sig are the sights ( easy to acquire targets quickly when compared the glock ), and the trigger.. out of the box dead sexy trigger on the Sig. Even with the 3.5# ghost rocket trigger connector installed, I just don't enjoy shooting my glock as much.
I just cannot understand these people that swear they'll feel safe carrying a .380 acp or .32 acp or .25 acp or .22 magnum or .22lr. Sure all those rounds have killed people but the absolute minimum should be nothing weaker than a .38 special. 9mm is powerful enough if you use +p hollow points. The same applies with .38 special. If you use +p hollow points it will usually stop somebody. Just my opinion however.
I think that's close to the truth but there are some weaker animals, like mice and squirrels. I also think that even through mule deer and white tail are about the same size as humans they are weaker. I routinely kill them with a .17 hornady mach 2 put in the guts. Humans are easy to kill however since they drop dead from .22 LR every single day.
I wish more gun shop associates were like you. I am coming up on eligible sheepdog age and I have stopped into lots of gun shops and asked the guys behind the counter if certain guns are good for concealed carry, or if customers use certain guns for that purpose what they recommend and expected honest answers like yours. Nope. Frequently I hear, "you can carry what ever you want to," or "I don't know." They don't seem to know their stuff a lot of times.
That's very true. Around where I live there is only 2 gun shops where the employees seem to know what they're talking about. I stopped into one I haven't been inside before about a week ago. I was considering buying a Walther p22 with the available laser for a backup. My primary is usually a Glock 27 with a crimson trace laserguard. I asked the woman in there if she knows if the .22lr was adequate for self defense out of that short of barrel. Her response "it should be". Wow.
Yeah, I wish people that worked at these stores were as knowledgeable about their products as car dealers, or mattress salesmen, or other such people are. Guns are very much the same in the respect that they are very tailored to the individual. I have no idea honestly what to carry when I turn 21 because I wear fairly tight jeans (not skin tight, but definitely not loose or baggy) and t-shirts regularly, and I don't want to have to change my wardrobe just so I can use my 2 amdt
Right now I feel like my only feasible option is a sig p238 or something of that size (except a keltec--hate keltecs) because it's the only thing I'd be able to fit/conceal with my current style. I'd really like to be able to talk to someone who could look at what I'm wearing and say, "ok, this, this and this would be some good ideas to carry, that one won't really work..." and so on.

Well I would say for jeans that are not extremely tight that a kel tec p-11 would be awesome. That was my first handgun. More powerful than the .380 acp and even more powerful with some 147 grain bullets or heavier if you can find them. it comes with a 10 round magazine but the factory sells 12 round ones that are the exact same size and fit the same. 12+1 9mm rounds in a pocket pistol sized gun that is exactly 1 inch thick. Has always worked great for me.
I everyday carry an HK USP Compact .40 S&W in a Galco Summer Comfort IWB holster or a Desantis leather scabbard holsters and I don't have any problems with it unless I am at work or the beach. Nonetheless, I agree with Nutnfancy in that there are other handguns available such as a S&W 642, Ruger LCP, Kel Tec PF-9, Kahr PM9, Glock 26, Sig Sauer P238, Walther PPS, HK P2000/SK or an XD Sub Compact that are much easier to carry and conceal. I think you just have to choose what's best for you.
love it! Thats what I tell my friends when they ask me " why do you carry that little pea shooter?" I always say "you got hand cannon on you?" lol I have the PM9 and I love it! I carry mine ITWB with a high noon holster.
I have found that the GLOCK 19 is also a great all around handgun. I feel that the Glock 19 fits the compact role well. What do you think? It sits inside my waistband during the day and on my nightstand at night. I used to be the guy that stayed away from Glock because everyone and their mom had one. Then I fired one and realized why. However, I did buy a diamondback db380 for when I can't carry the glock, which is almost never. Keep up the awsome work man!
Great video sir and very informative. Unfortunately I live in a state that doesn't have any carry provisions so citizens have to either be unarmed outside their homes or risk it and break the law and carry concealed. I am looking to purchase a pistol for the purpose of concealed carry because where I live there is a lot of crime and the police department is short thousands of officers. I rather chance it than have my wife bury me in a box and my kids growing up without their dad. Great vid man.
"group think" might be "your word" to you but actually its not. William H. Whyte coined the term in 1952, if you want a reference it was noted in fortune magazine. Also the term can also be used as "mob mentality" or herd-mentality/herd-behavior used by psychologist.
Good energy NUTN! You have a great ability to keep people interested in what you have to say. A little personality goes a long way! Love that SIG P238. I'm in North Carolina, an open carry state and I have my concealed recently. Only bad thing is I have a Springfield XD40 bitone. An "effin" monster for concealment. I've done some research and I think pound for pound for the price I want to go with the Bersa Thunder .380. But after seeing this I also like that SIG P238. Which one?
I understand the p228 as well as the USP have their drawbacks. But why are you comparing "Compact" guns to subcompact guns? It’s comparing apples with oranges. Poorly done.
@tool5664 I think the crux of what he's saying is that "compact" is something of an outmoded label for a gun like a P228/9 or the USP Compact. In turn, perhaps the phrase "sub-compact" is dated as well.
I like the usage of the term "Service" size for something like the guns in this video. Good belt gun, lighter than a Government model 1911 or other full-size guns, with a negligible loss in firepower. Something a law enforcement officer can carry as a sidearm and not feel underpowered.
@woodroez, Regardless of what terms are thrown around this video "Compact" or "subcompact ". There is still an issue involved with Nuntfacy's approach to this video. I personally felt a more appropriate comparison to these two guns that are mentioned would be along the line of a Glock 19, Glock 23, Kimber pro carry line, and Sig P239 to name a few. The guns I listed are more logical to compare than subcompact guns discussed throughout the video
The guns you named are all relatively the same size as the USP and P228 he has in the video. His aproach is for the consumer's purpose. The Glock 19 is "compact" in terms of being smaller than it's full-sized counter part, the Glock 17. But being COMPACT is to be as small as possible while still being practical. Those guns would be like the smaller sub-compacts he showed off. My girlfriend has a PT709, that is COMPACT. My 8000F is supposed to be "compact". Big difference.
@phattacorider You obviously don't know to much about guns Phattccorider. I Own both a Sig P228 as well as a Glock 19 and there is a substantial difference in dimension between the two weapons. I have carried both my guns concealed and i favor the Glock 19 over my Sig. Now to the root of this all, his approach is tainted and i still hold that to be true and significant due to the drastic differences in the subcompact guns he lists through out this video to the "compact" guns.
Oh I know plenty about guns. The Glock 19 is more "compact" than the P228, but the subcompacts Nutnfancy listed are more compact than the
Glock 19. That is his point behind his entire video. in fact, the USP 40 and the Glock 19 are VERY similar in size and weight, with the USP being heavier. See, you need to scratch off the manufacturer's claim of what is compact, and look at reality. Even the G19 isn't that easy to conceal compared to, per say, the PF9. Again, COMPACT.
Oh, and just because someone doesn't see eye to eye with you doesn't mean they don't know much about guns. So you might want to be careful throwing around your "superiority". And don't be narrow-minded. Nutnfancy even mentioned the difference between what manufacturers call compact, and what REALLY is compact. Oh, and my PT709 is more "compact" than your G19.

Oh. I carry a PPS, but Im been enjoying carrying more my P99AS gen3.

hey nutnfancy, first off i love your video's, and they have guided many of my knife and gear purchases.

I agree that the P228/229 is a tad heavy (and bulky) for ALL-THE-TIME carrying (depends on the clothing IMHO) but I just love mine. major factor is the size and location of your holster and what sort of person you are, interesting fact, many female CCw carriers carry larger pistols than equivalent male CCW carriers since their toting their gun around in there purse
maxrocks19 10 months ago
Carrying concealed is not supposed to be comfortable. It is supposed to be comforting.
I carry a P229 regularly, I used to carry a Glock 22. From what I've learned your holster and carry method should be just as important as your choice in firearm to carry. If it is not comfortable, you will not carry it, but with the right holster and carry method, just about anything can be comfortable.

JediDachshund 1 year ago 2
@JediDachshund At around 4:50 he talks about how some people carry full size guns daily and some people do, but most don't.
baby2kent 1 year ago
@baby2kent You're right, most people don't. I don't either. I carry a COMPACT version of a full frame handgun. All people need to do is research their purchase. If I manufactured a product and called it "The Greatest Thing Ever" would you buy it just from the name? Identify your requirements, research the options, and buy intelligently. Crying about terminology is a waste of time.
JediDachshund 1 year ago
@JediDachshund Did he not specifically say "for MOST people"? How many times does the guy have to tell us "your mileage may vary" and that he knows lots of permit holders CC full-size pistols, and he respects others' opinions? To say he's "projecting his own personal limitations on others" is an unfair criticism. At least he's taking the time to post information that many people will find helpful. If you feel you have better information, by all means post your own video.

Sorry, I think what bothers myself (and Nutn apparently) is when people claim something is compact (literally) and it isn't.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@Tox927 I'm sure he is aware of the difference between sub-compact and compact. However, when SIG came out with the P228 compact pistol he took that word (compact) literally and it turned out it wasn't literally compact. "Compact" is a gun industry term that describes a number of pistols that nutn doesn't consider compact as per the dictionary definition. Therefore, it is a misleading term that nutn wanted to clear up.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@iMagUdspEllr "Compact is a gun industry term that describes a number of pistols that nutn doesn't consider compact as per the dictionary definition." ----- I cannot believe you just said that. really??? Whats the dictionary definition of a compact handgun? Get off nutnfancy's balls. He is really not that cool.
ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 He is just illustrating how much of an oxymoron a "compact" handgun is. However in reality "compact" handguns aren't really compact and sub-compact handguns fit that definition much better. The reason why the term "sub-compact" was invented was because they already labeled larger guns "compact" so they had to make up a word for something smaller (which kinda proves that they weren't so compact to begin with). That is the point he is trying to make and you are failing to grasp.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
compact- "arranged within a relatively small space" Those guns are not so small relative to other designs. Which is why nutn is trying to point out that fact and tell gun owners to stop kidding themselves about how "compact" their compact handguns are.

ZoneIII 1 year ago
@ZoneIII It IS confusing, and apologies for that. I'm his sister, and go by "Veri" online..and also secretary to TNP and use his account a lot...and yes, that NRS was a typo..to add to the confusion. Nutn is a HUGE supporter of the NRA.
Verilioness 1 year ago

ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 He isnt talking about quality he is talking about size mostly. a kel tec can still drop someone easily with the correct placement of the bullet. size doesnt always matter, which is good for you little stubby :D lol.....5'7? rofl....
TheFr1ch 1 year ago
Compare that HK USPc to your glock 19 and they are about the same size, but you wouldnt wanna diss your glock now would you nutn. They are really about the same size and weight almost about the same. Glock calls their 19's compact dont they? didnt hear anything about them.
ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 He doesn't care about the manufacturer. He just hates the gun industry term "compact". He is basically just saying that sub-compact pistols are the truly compact guns (as per the dictionary definition). Sorry you are so butt-hurt about him picking on HK. He also picked on SIG (one of his fav gun manufacturers). BTW the Glock 19 is ~5 oz lighter than the USPc and carries 2 more bullets... with an extension it carries 4 more and you can use the 17s mag with an extension giving it 6 more
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@iMagUdspEllr A glock 19 (9mm) mag carries 15, a HK USPc (9mm) mag also carries 15. And if you put an extension on it, it wouldnt be "compact" anymore either now would it? I know about glocks and their magazines and everything ok, I own glocks too, I am just saying, for basically the same size, and weight,(5oz really aint a lot of weight difference there buddy), Id definitely pick the HK USPc. Shit you can even get a .40 and carry 12 rounds of .40 for same size gun. Id def rather do that 2
ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 Unless I'm looking at the wrong gun the HK website says it holds 13 rounds in 9mm. 5 oz is the weight of a knife (for example... nutn uses that one often). But that aside the Glock wins... whether it is by 1 oz or 5 and the HK isn't offering anything in return. Why would you have 5 more oz for no reason? I do like the .40 cartridge but in smaller, lighter guns (ones that are meant to be concealed) that .40 cartridge will be much harder to shoot than a 9.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 The recoil reduction system doesn't reduce recoil. It spreads it out. It isn't as violent but you will still be out of battery longer than if you shot a 9mm round. Don't kid yourself the HK koolaid is for people who want to pay for something that isn't there. My colt python doesn't feel like a .357 magnum because I'm not a bitch. So what is your point? I shoot it better than my other pistols. I can shoot a 9 faster though.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@ABorell12 Thats great if YOU will take fewer rounds of .40 than more rounds of 9mm. But it gets to the point where it is way more reassuring having 4 left in the gun than 1. It doesn't matter how good you are you can't stop 3 people with one bullet. (But I mean I guess I'm a douche for assuming that you would miss or that the almighty .40 will instantly stop a bad guy and the wimpy 9 will only make them mad).
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@ABorell12 As far as I have seen HKs have not proven to be better than Glocks performance-wise. And even if they did they would have to justify being $400 more expensive.
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@ABorell12 In this specific usage for a gun I would rather not use the cartridge that has more energy because it is in a smaller, lighter gun and I want to be able to make follow up shots as quickly as possible (just because I'm likely to miss under stress). The 9mm helps two-fold in this regard because of the lighter recoil and I find that a couple more rounds to be more comforting than just one slightly larger round (that is assuming I miss more than half of my shots but anything can happen)
iMagUdspEllr 1 year ago
@iMagUdspEllr ALL of those guns he threw up there are SUB COMPACT. Not COMPACT. There is a difference. You cant compare sub compact guns to compact ones and say they are not compact because they are not the same size as these sub compact guns. that makes no sense.
ABorell12 1 year ago
@ABorell12 No shit. That is the point. "Sub-compact" exists because guns that were labeled "compact" weren't. So they were like, "Duhh um dees are smalla dan duh kompakt ones so what does we call dem?" Thus the word "sub-compact" was born. The gun industry caught wind that people wanted/needed smaller guns and released "compact" guns. They weren't so they had to make smaller ones to accomplish the mission. Yay! Sub-compacts were born. That is the point man.

You single out SIG, but Glock calls the 23 and 19s compact and they aren't either. You have to go to the 26 and 27 to really be compact. The Glock 17 is a waste of space because it can't do anything that the 19 can't. Similarly, there is no real advantage to the P226 over the P228/229.
ncmigbuaiitars 1 year ago
@ncmigbuaiitars He is also refuring to the Glocks. I use a G23, but really its not much smaller than the G22 full size or hell, even the G35 for that matter with it's extended slide. The 23 is my favorite and I have no problems carrying it hidden so no biggie but small like a Kahr PM9 like he mentioned, it is not. Just depends on each person and what they are comfortable with

@tubevideoguy762 We as human beings are the weakest of gods creatures, just about anything will kill us.
Kylef7735 1 year ago
@Kylef7735

98FZR600 1 year ago
@98FZR600

Poorly done.
tool5664 1 year ago
@tool5664 I think the crux of what he's saying is that "compact" is something of an outmoded label for a gun like a P228/9 or the USP Compact. In turn, perhaps the phrase "sub-compact" is dated as well.
I like the usage of the term "Service" size for something like the guns in this video. Good belt gun, lighter than a Government model 1911 or other full-size guns, with a negligible loss in firepower. Something a law enforcement officer can carry as a sidearm and not feel underpowered.
woodroez 1 year ago
@woodroez, Regardless of what terms are thrown around this video "Compact" or "subcompact ". There is still an issue involved with Nuntfacy's approach to this video. I personally felt a more appropriate comparison to these two guns that are mentioned would be along the line of a Glock 19, Glock 23, Kimber pro carry line, and Sig P239 to name a few. The guns I listed are more logical to compare than subcompact guns discussed throughout the video
tool5664 1 year ago
@tool5664
Big difference.
phattacorider 1 year ago
@phattacorider You obviously don't know to much about guns Phattccorider. I Own both a Sig P228 as well as a Glock 19 and there is a substantial difference in dimension between the two weapons. I have carried both my guns concealed and i favor the Glock 19 over my Sig. Now to the root of this all, his approach is tainted and i still hold that to be true and significant due to the drastic differences in the subcompact guns he lists through out this video to the "compact" guns.
tool5664 1 year ago
@tool5664
Again, COMPACT.
phattacorider 1 year ago
@tool5664
Oh, and my PT709 is more "compact" than your G19.
phattacorider 1 year ago
