はやぶさは、スイングバイの技術を得ようとした「ひてん」（MU­SES-A）、大規模アンテナを宇宙で展開して高精度の電波観測­技術を得ようとした「はるか」（MUSES-B）に続く、惑星間­探査を行い地球に戻ってこれる航宙機を作る技術を得るための実験­宇宙機（MUSES-C）です。

これが、イトカワ調査がメインだったら、MUSESではなくPL­ANET名が付いていたはずです。

ちなみに、PLANET-Aはハレー彗星探査機、PLANET-­Bは火星探査機、PLANET-Cは金星探査機です。

I think that is endangering life in Earth, because of bacteria possibly present on the different asteroids which remain dormant and revice once exposed to oxygen. Not to mention such waste of money when millions of people are dying of hunger every day. I would approve only if these companies that send probes to space mathced dollar to dollar for human services to the third world countries.

If you can dig on an asteroid you can dig in Africa for water first.

Hayabusa is on the way to return to the earth by useing ion engine with a capsule filling of sample of surface of planete Itokawa.Tuch down to surface of Itokawa was already done.

In spaite of many accidents and difficulties, Hayabusa is scheduled to return to the earth on Oct.2010.
