I showed my grandma this hymn about two weeks ago. She passed away two days ago on Friday. Before she took her nap Friday she told me that she loved that hymn and how beautiful it was. Well she passed away while taking her nap. And when I looked in her journal today her last entry was Thursday and the last thing she wrote was "Christ Laid Aside His Crown For My Soul, For My Soul". This is such a beautiful thing I have to relate to my grandma which will never fade away. I love you grandma.
Thank you so much for this testimony of your grandmother's faith in Jesus. We can all trust that she entered into God's eternal kingdom and lives on supported by the abiding love of Jesus. All of us who are alive now and who love Jesus can look forward to the same eternal life.
@TUSAPoWnAgE - God's grace that so fully matured within the heart of your grandmother is so beautiful... to think the realm of Heaven is filled with such people, who testify so purely and sweetly... God bless you! What a precious testimony... I'm thankful to have happened upon it and this video.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (March 27, Lent 3), I played this as the closing hymn. It is (don't laugh) #666 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
For uploading beautiful hymns that touch my heart and lead me to feel Christ in my life more and more, i want to say THANK YOU. you are my favourite uploader.
How unearthly, achingly beautiful!!!! I think sometimes, when I hear something like this, that I love folk hymns & spirituals better than anything else (w/the possible exception of Handel's Messiah) in Christian literature.
Oh you have such a beautiful voice! And such wondrous truth in this beautiful song. I am studying the Sacred Harp songs, this is a perfect song. Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
It's not my voice. The singer is Deborah Liv Johnson and her music can be purchased from Itunes. Now I'm going to double check my info to make sure I gave her credit. : )
I work in a veterinary hospital & sing this hymn to myself every time a family bring in a well-loved pet to be euthanized. I am always moved by the 'parents' final act of unconditional love for their pet who no longer has to suffer. I will sing. I will sing.
Absolutely beautiful rendition of a timeless, wonderful hymn. It was a pleasure to listen to - Thank you.
