I wrote a considerable amount of that Wikipedia article on Hadacol. It went from a patent medicine to a full-blown social movement, and collapsed in a Cajun version of the Enron scandal. Still, it was the last (and arguably largest) of the "medicine shows". You could go to pharmacies in Dry counties in the South and order a shot of Hadacol over the counter. Potent stuff (12% alcohol = 24 proof).
