  • 2 oz of potato or 2 pounds!!!!!!

  • @avalon449 2 pounds, it has been corrected!

  • do the potatoes have to be cooled before adding egg and flour? Thanks

  • @MissAngie8787 The potatoes should be lukewarm

  • thats a cool ass potato masher

  • dubbing and voice over is the devil.

    i love gnocchi

  • you could also pan-fry them, check roastini from Nigella.

  • That egg is huge!

  • how about the idea of baking gnocchi????

  • @mpakisoul You can boil the gnocchi in plenty of salted water; as soon as they float to the surface, drain well and add a couple of spoonfuls of tomato sauce, then put in 4 individual oven dishes.Top with 2 more spoonfuls of tomato sauce, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and add a handful of mozzarella cubes, then place under the oven grill for a few minutes: when the parmesan cheese turns light brown, it's ready... this is gnocchi sorrentina!

  • @yellowsaffron ok... thank you for explaining... :)

  • there is an error on the recipe written at the beginning...it says 2 oz of potatoes and it should say 2 pounds of potatoes

  • @PUNETA123 No, you only need 2 oz of potatoes. You are only making 4 pieces of gnocchi. ;)

  • love Gnocchi!! thank u so much for posting this!

  • this is officially my fav channel....

  • Nice video.

How long does it take to cook the gnocchi ?

I know the video says until they begin to float but I´d like to know how many minutes approximately should I leave the gnocchi in the boiling water ??

    Thanks :-)

  • @YTfancol It depends on their size, let's say about 2-3 minutes (max 5)

  • @yellowsaffron THANK YOU !!!

I appreciate your prompt response :-)

I had been meaning to make gnocchi for quite a while but I always thought they were very hard/tricky to make.

Now you can easily guess what we are having for dinner this evening !!.

    Grazie mille .

  • @YTfancol you ll see them! 2-3 minutes!

  • I dont hae that tool that you use to mash the potatos. Is there a different method I can use?

  • @12jordanolson You can use the fork to mash the potatoes, if they're very soft, but it will take more time

  • thanks for this recipe. i first had gnocchi in high school at a little lunch cafe. ever since then i've been eating it.

  • @hurmpfff You're welcome! You'll be surprised of how easy it is to make them at home

  • why boil the potatoes and then peel them? its much easier to peel first??

  • @imtori8 Because in this way the potatoes don't absorb water while boiling

  • @imtori8 actually it is easier to peel them when boiled

  • I am overjoyed that it is this easy!! I love gnocchi and I was unhappy with the quality that I found in the supermarket. Now I will always make it fresh! Thank you for this guide. I am so pleased.

  • @TonicMike You're welcome! The gnocchi you find at the supermarket are not at all like those you make at home... and it's very funny :-)

  • @1prettysoul It's very funny, mostly with children!

  • Can you suggest substitute of egg because I am vegetarian and I don't eat eggs.

    Thanks for sharing..

  • @nehalhingu You being a vegetarian means you don't get to enjoy delicious food. So no Gnocchi or spare ribs, or cakes made with eggs for you. Denying yourself food because you like animals is ignorant.

  • @1337Naples : Proud to be vegetarian. No need to feel bad about it friend. everybody have their own preferences..

  • I just made these tonight, but haven't cooked them yet. They're for tomorrow. I couldn't get them to look right, but they should taste okay just the same. XD

  • @JumbaFan Keep them floured on a tray to prevent from sticking... let me know!

  • @yellowsaffron They turned out great! They looked kind of ridiculous, but I'd never made them before. I'd make these again, and maybe next time they'll actually look the way they're supposed to. XD

  • @JumbaFan Great! Next time maybe they'll look better, but what's important is the taste!

  • what if we don't have a potato masher?

  • @mrteacupable You can use a fork, but the result won't be the same because the potato masher has very small holes which make the puree even

  • @yellowsaffron In North America we call it a potato ricer. It is really worth getting one. They have many uses including juicing a lemon.

  • @bloodandwinearered Thanks for the information!

  • @mrteacupable try putting your potatoes in a sieve and pressing them through with the back of a measuring cup or a big spoon.

  • I always wanted to try making these because its really easy and simple but never sure what kinda sauce it goes with.

  • @GenjitsuSama They are excellent just with a simple tomato sauce, or you can try them with a cheese sauce or a bolognese sauce (see our spaghetti or lasagna bolognese recipe!)

  • @GenjitsuSama vodka sauce

  • Delicioso...mas prefiro compra no mercado hehehe

  • muito bom

  • gnocchi true, does not contain egg or potato

contains only flour and water, and I know this because I am a descendant of Italians!

  • But is mutch better with potato and eggs ,hum ?? ; )

  • @veganification It's true if they are sardinian gnocchi. In every other italian region they make them with potatoes :)

  • @veganification then it must be hundred of years ago and they lose the recipe somewhere between. Because gnochi is with potatoes "and i know this because" i'm italian.

  • Really good recipe!

  • i want sofia back :(

  • ACHEI QUE ERA UMA NOVA DROGA AHUAHUAHUAHUAHUAH

  • pensei que era cocaina na imagen

  • Muito bom!!!E facil de fazer tambem!

  • you should try frying those, theyre so good that way... shouldnt eat them too often that way tho if youre watching your weight

  • just made a batch with regular pasta sauce. Yum!!

  • Kopytka :) Well, that's what this dish is called in Polish. Usually served with meat, gravy and sour cucumbers on side.
