  • great!i love you!

  • @kiball09 And my Axe

  • NO.

  • I think it is intended to come from a woman... what man would ask a woman to do those things? this is from the Romantic era meaning chivalry was popular and men would do seemingly impossible task for those they loved.

  • @lynxord That's part of the beauty of this song, no one is sure what the tasks are. Some people have concluded that the "tasks" are really metaphors for everything from food preparation to the black plaque. Still others think it's just a song of a young person teaching a potential mate about love.

  • Does this girl's singing remind someone of Bonnie Dobson, or is it just me?

  • beautiful....

  • I love the melody.

  • What a strong, beautiful voice!

  • This is one of the songs that should have several verses!

  • @GregerMoek it does...for artistic reasons, perhaps, they only did a few here. but i keep playing it over and over...i've got the cd and dvd....she's both beautiful and her voice is angelic....

  • All I can think of is the Boosh Glam Folk Band

  • @ProtoViking me too.....

  • This is a nice change for Simon and Garfunkel. But they are the best.

  • @DaniOcean This arrangement is from an Englishman named Martin Carthy, and the girl is from New Zealand.

  • 270+ people like Justin Bieber

  • She sings he... But isn't it truely she O _ o

*sits with paper that says she*

  • @BolledyretM Men sing "she", women sing "he". Folk songs can be sung by either gender. Since it is well over 300 years old, no one knows how it was originally written.

  • @TripBoomLikeThat Faggots can sing he too cuz they are gay assbutt munchers

  • @blackishlovah123 Sleep it off, you will feel better about yourself in the morning.

  • @TripBoomLikeThat Alright, yeah, your probably right....I MEAN U DON'T KNOW HOW IT IS TO LIVE WITH THIS MAN.

  • @blackishlovah123 Well, you're correct there!!! Good luck to you.

  • @blackishlovah123 rather that than just a "gay assbutt"

  • @kiball09 depends on what it's intentions are, i've had kittens try to take my eyes out and wolves want to protect me. this song makes me want to sit on the hills and listen to the sun's effect as it rises

  • @kiball09

    Im in!

  • @kiball09 count me in, too!

  • @kiball09 Fus RO DA!

  • @kiball09 You have my sword.

  • @kiball09 hahah soo gonna do a skyrim slaying dragons-tage of this song!!

  • Good god what an beautiful voice.

  • I'm pretty young still, just a freshman in college. but ive always loved the british isles, and ireland especially, there's just something magical about the thought of it. And all I can say is that listening to these women sing makes me dream about going over there someday and marrying a beautiful lass. just like one of my cousins did!

  • amazing

  • What a voice!

  • Apparently there are 268 people who are deaf.

  • 1:25... is that the major?

  • How can have somebody such a great voice?

  • This song and the singer are truly EPIC! :)

  • This is truly EPIC! :)

  • FCKING. GREAT. VOICE.

  • i love her voice

  • A beautiful English song, sung beautifully by an Irish lass....

  • @AngloHuscarl She is actually from New Zealand

  • Am I the only one who has fallen in love with this woman?

  • @UrsusCasus Nope, I've been in love with her. She has a rich, pitch-perfect voice and I love her look - it's different. Not the typical Barbie-doll pretty, but a classy beautiful look. I can picture her in a medieval setting - as a princess. Give me a classy woman like this anyday over the shallow airheads we're constantly exposed to in most media.

  • If you don't like this song, not as in a youtube like, you have problems.... This a classic in itself but performed by these ladies it just takes it to the next level.....

  • This is such a beautiful song!

  • ireland is amazing!!!

  • Something about a soprano and a flute really plucks my heart strings, this is beautiful

  • beautiful and wonderful !!!

  • Beautiful voice, beautiful woman, beautiful song... someone grab me before I faint please?

  • this is over -egged. i prefer the laura wright version

  • I don't know why, but absolutely love how she moves her hair out of her eyes at 2:15

  • I know that this is an overused comment...

BUT HOW CAN ANYONE DISLIKE THIS????

Also (another frequently used comment), this deserves more views.

  • its so enchanting watching this video. its like when its played...the whole world goes quiet....listening to her sing.

  • I Don't Know Why I Just Keep Coming For This Song.....

  • @Ibnisabr74: I do! :)

  • We're singing this at my 6th grade choir concert and its truly amazing when someone else besides us sings it lol

  • amazing really .. her sound with this beautiful music .. she's cleaned my mind from trashes life :D .. nice one *thumb up"

  • It's ironic that for the last 50 years or so all Folk music in the UK is derived from Celtic Folk, yet here we see the reverse.

  • @matthemod derived?

  • the voice of an angel...

  • whoa !!!! beautiful and her voice too, is she married

  • I don't like how they cut the song short. =/

  • What flute is he playing? Can anyone tell me?

  • @HamsterGaru...It's not a flute...the instrument is one of a family of instruments known as Tin Whistles, the particular one being played is a Low Whistle...

  • lovely!!

  • I think this would be a really good lullaby to sing. :)

  • La pell de gallina

  • @MortMetaler Parli englise?

  • i wrote this song along time ago in 1958

  • Slane has had some great shows. Such a diversity too. Red hot chili peppers to the celtic hymnal. True classic.!!!

  • I want to marry this woman.

    And I'm a girl. XD

  • wow great!

  • 240p, once again we meet. May the next time not be to such a beautiful video

  • @shadowofthenight101 'Shenandoah' is the only song from Celtic Woman which starts with 'Sh' I know of, but if I'm not mistaken it's completely instrumental. I think you want the song 'Siuil A Run', which is sung partially in Irish.

  • Which of the "Celtic Woman" is singing?

  • @Enyido Hayley Westenra, who's unfortunately not a Celtic Woman anymore :(

  • @Enyido....This beautiful and talented lady is Hayley Westenra...she was invited to join CW for this "concert" and the following U.S. tour...

  • Love this song

  • It sounds like music of the middle ages, which I like :) ...

  • @kulter20 It is a medieval tune.

  • @ViktorByron No serious? Thats what Im saying

  • @kulter20 I know but there's a gaping difference between sounding like and actually being. That's what I'm saying.

  • Oh hayley westenra...one day, I will marry you and your beautiful voice!!!

  • This version of Scarborough fair is as good as the version of Simon and Garfunkel, but this one it is more mystical based on the extraordinary talent of Hayley Westenra. She has a beautiful voice. But both versions are great.

  • Personally I don't think making a song slower makes it necessarily better.

  • i swear, this was the most wonderful thing ive ever heard...normally i listen to hardstyle, aggrotech and other styles, but this song is just awesome...

    her voice is incredible!

( sorry if my english isnt very well, but i try to get better ;) )

  • A big thank you to Paul Simon for bringing this song to the world's attention.

Happy birthday Paul! "How terribly strange to be seventy"

  • Scarborough lovely seaside town in north yorkshire. How do i know? Easy I live here

  • That voice... just melts me.

  • I never knew Hayley Westenra was apart of Celtic Woman! What a lovely surprise!

  • I liked the slightly different arrangement than the original. Works for her, and she's fantastic to begin with.

  • Oh, how cool it would be to be one of the celtic woman. I wonder how they audition for it.:)

  • @Tug139 they don't, you get asked ;)

  • Ach....*schluchz* Das ist so ein schönes Lied...!!!Gänsehaut!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome.!!!

    Fantastic performance.!!

She has a beautiful voice. ^^

    I love this song.!

  • 263 guys asked her out and were turned down...jealous bastards!

  • @rutber2000 I'm just jealous I haven't had the opportunity to ask her out lol

  • @rutber2000 true, true...make that now 267 guys.....thats why they disliked the singer...LOL....hahahahahahaha......

  • @rutber2000 mmm maybe, she is very hot, but I think the problem could also be her rendition pales next to the original.

  • @piss666off Why doesn't anyone ever name that "Original" singer?

  • @IntoTheMystical The original singer is Alastar Críostóir who composed this in 1668.

  • @piss666off Glad you got to hear it. Maybe you can post your 1668 recording on Youtube so we can all experience the "original". Pfft.

  • @piss666off...I think you better go back and do some more homework before making such claims....Because in all actuality no one knows who first composed this...and that is because it was taken from an earlier obscure Scottish Ballad..And no one knows for sure when it was first published....

  • @piss666off

I know this is an old Celtic folk tune, but to which original are you referring?

  • @rutber2000 There is only one original sung by its creator the forgotten genius Alastar Críostóir.

  • @piss666off

Okay, I didn't know this. I'll check it out!

  • @rutber2000 Its English!!!

  • Makes me think of home ...

  • goosebumps...

  • 263 ppl thuogh that the dislike button said: DIS I LIKE

  • what's the name of the instrument that the man is playing in the beginning and throughout, it's like a flute but much prettier lol It has been killing me the past few days I've been trying to figure the name out.

  • Comment removed

  • @guitar5289

A recorder I believe (the professional kind). And yes, it is beautiful.

  • @guitar5289...The instrument is a part of a family of instruments called "Tin Whistles"...This one in particular is a Low Whistle...You can see it used quite a lot in traditional Irish and Scotish music...It's not as common as the Penny Whistle which is tuned higher...

  • @gaeilge1O1 cool, thanks! :)

  • Does anyone know what the name of the instrument the man in the blue shirt was playing is? It looks a bit like a flute, but I don't know what it is. What instrument is that?

  • @MalteseLover11 It is a low whistle (concert whistle). You can find it in wikipedia.

  • Absolutely beautiful....
