  • @saxxonpike maybe you can answer my question. Why is this calling a 303 bassline?? I've heard it a lot like a 808 kick drum. Why are they using numbers for things like kicks or basslines? srry for my bad english:(

  • and why don't you use an easily available lfo? sillyyy

  • @saxxonpike oh wow... envelope, not environment, you downer...

  • "Enviroment?" smh haha

good patch but I don't like the TS404 at all. Its got alias problems and it'll give DC offset sometimes.

  • nice tune, do you have it uploaded somehwere?

  • Hi #UN# if you are looking for good hip hop samples check out my page

  • ENV = Envelope not Environment.

  • the preset is aviable??

  • awesome melody

  • trippy , sick pattern! and good tut too...:)

  • that was the most helpful synth tutorial ever

can't wait to get fl studio!

  • Ur a legend!

  • Hey, in the piano roll you adjusted something down at the bottom which changed the sound as it played, I've just got volume control there, how do I get what you have there?

  • that filter mod blew my mind

    haha

  • Damn the finished product sold me! Sounds so good, i like it, cool tut man.

  • Thank you very much for posting this :)

  • i just started making beats almost 2 months ago, i mostly do that oldskool underground instrumental, if you got any constructive advice for me, i have them on my channel, appreciate it :)

  • How did you get all the different samples, in the left column, my FL 9 (or latest) doesnt have that. j/w if they were free or accessible.

  • For some reason I'm not getting the same result as you, even though I'm doing exactly like you show.

I'm new to FL so is there by any chance a finished preset or something you could use instead?

  • Dude hope I don't annoy but I want to cut the notes of the violin sound in order to make a melody with it; it's completely impossible for me to play with a low tone of the note because it sounds no more like a violin, or to cut the note because the "hold" Is too extended, I tried cutting it on INS -> CUT & RES but when I try to hear it after some experiments it refuses to sound as a demo of what I changed; what the hell im doing? For what is SMP, INS, PAN, VOL, CUT, RES, PITCH, MISC & FUNC? :(

  • wow, u made that entire melody without hearing it once before playing it back. that's G as hell. i was wondering how it would come out.

  • thanks for the vid, much appreciated

  • 4:10 = PURE BAD ASS!

  • thank you so much ! :)

  • Shut up young flame... you hating retard!!

Saxxonpike... this is a great tutorial...

maybe the result could be found elsewhere but that's not really the point is it?

Thanks... im watching all ur stuff~

  • dude that sounds amazing!!!!

  • hey does anyone here know how to make your own sounds in fl studio?

  • im so mutherfuking confused!!!!!!!!!! i dont even kno where you begin!! where did u get ts40 watever shit its called??? can you explain where you got that and not just freakin start off!?!?!!!? (sorry for all the language)

  • @28306dc Um, If you use FL Studio, you should know where to find the TS404...

  • how did you change the velocity layout?

  • omg that's the Eternus guy!

  • if you tweak this a bit you can make awesome wobbles with this!!!!

    thanks mate for this tutorial.

  • I have a problem finding the original sound you used, but it may be because I am using FL studio 9...never the less, if you can help me with this in FL 9 I would be most grateful.

  • I think everyone can agree that the greatest sample that comes with FL is Hit-4. Prove me wrong.

  • what are you adjusting on the bottom in the piano roll? Also, how do you get your notes to play so quick on that slow tempo?

  • THIS SHIT SUCK ASS

  • can upload the flp ??

  • That's a pretty awesome arrangement dude.

  • Env is envelope, not environment. You need to gain a better understanding of the terminology, you make a lot of mistakes like this.

  • thank you so much you are so awesome im gonna watch all your vids!

  • thats sick

  • lol, that sound reminded me of the Horizons songs :P

  • you just helped me with something so simple that noone else would've ever done for me thank you!!! may god bless you for a long time to go!!

  • awesome tutorial very helpful

  • R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!!!!

  • wow awesome

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Can't find the ts404 bassline synthesizer.

  • its in the bar left

  • Niiiiceeee

  • Nice tutorial, really thank you! :D

  • what the hell are you saying to me i know your trying to tell me something but i just dont understand you!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome! Thanks for this.

I've been making my 303 lines in ReBirth, exporting to wav, then putting it FL Studio.

This makes it a lot easier!

  • Great video, man. I totally agree with you about the preset thing, how people need to experiment and learn how to create their own sounds. Sometimes the folks who rip on FL Studio are the same folks who don't know how to do anything but use built-in presets and samples that come with a program.

  • Cosign

  • WoW Sounds sick!!!

Good Tut man keep at it!!

  • Thanks for making these tutorials. They're so helpful you have no idea.

  • in 4:17 or 4:18 u changed something there down...how?

  • right klick in the grey box under the keys and select "note fine pitch"

  • @BigVlondi

The default at the bottom of the piano roll should be velocity. Just right click and drag from left to right however you want it to effect the sound of a certain instrument. If you right click the gray box, to the left, you can change it to whatever you want.

    Btw Sax, awesome tutorial!

  • thx a lot helped me a lot

  • really good tutorial. taught me a few new things. much appreciated.

  • I like to show examples of how someone can create their own good sounding patches in FL Studio. Most of the presets aren't really that great, and you don't always find what you're looking for. If someone can take this and learn more about creating their own patches to make their own music sound more unique, I've definitely achieved what I'm hoping for by uploading this video.

  • @saxxonpike Also it's not "environment" it's actually envelope :)

  • @saxxonpike Thank you so much for this video! I uste to write only orchestral music because making a cool sythn was just frusterating, but since you broke it down it seems a lot more of a reachable task! MORE VIDEOS PLEASE LOL :D

  • It's only pointless if you're not interested in creating your own sounds.

    Anyone can use the presets.

Knowing how to create a sound is something different.

  • Totally agree,

Mostly, I make my own presets on my songs for a certain reason, Im trying to hide the fact that im using FL Studio. and thus, leading me to the knowledge of crafting your own sounds..

I use Sytrus most of the time on making synths and effects. kinda fun, but irritating when you cant make the sound that you want to achieve.

PS: Thanks sanxion for posting this Tutorial! I've been wondering what TS404 sounds like.

  • Because finding out new ways to make sounds can often lead to very different results.

  • @YoungFlame1377 yeah i agree you can make a 303 with v-station without using a preset just make it from scratch.

  • @YoungFlame1377 then again who would rate a pointless tutorial 5/5? (i just noticed your comment was one year old.... oh well)

  • ha! just noticed you have exactly 303 subscribers! conincidence? :D

  • i think not. rofl

  • skills

  • Thank you.....thank you!!

  • How did he do that at 4:18 ?

  • ya seriously .......... wtf were those options lol .....where'd they come from!!

  • on the bar at the top where is says "velocity" click that... and select filter cut

  • ya word , i was messn with it right after i watched thislol , thanks

  • He just changed the pitch ;)

  • watch?v=D9ZfPJjJL3Y

  • the box is well aged but sounds amazing

  • Tutorials like this are great; you can mess around and put them to almost anything.

  • Well done that sounds great. And here I thought the ts 404 was useless.

  • horrible sound you turned that bass. otherwise nice tutorial. tnx

  • Hay Man Thats Pretty Cool.

    Good job Man.

  • thats some cool shit dude, you should make a few rap beats and sell em to wannabe rappers they would lap your shit up,my mate does it and sells em at 500 a pop on cds to the lebs in sydney, if u did it online u could make a fortune coz u make that shit look so easy, i would kil to be able to make that, im buying a midi keyboard right this second

  • Anyone can make a beat, it's a fact. It takes a lot more to make good ones that are profitable. Suffice to say, I don't think I've got that sort of skill, I'm moving into sound engineering. But this video can at least prove you can do a lot with a little, in a pinch.

  • thanks man! now i can set my career as a pro border jumper!

  • holy crap o.O

how did you know where to put the notes just by clicking like that?!

  • FriskyLemons, I know where to put the notes because there's a piano on the left side. Also, the little info bar at the top of the screen shows which note you have the mouse over.

  • so did u just study music or use fl for a long time then? i know about the piano no the side

  • I've been using FL since 2002 and writing music for a few years beyond that in old tracker formats. Recently, though, I've been taking courses in music theory, sound engineering and production :)

  • So rubbery I love it

  • idjuuuuut knulllaa i dig

  • thank you. great help.

    happy composing!!

  • amazing

  • v.good work man

only useful fl tutorial ive found

  • i dont find TS404:( i have fl 8 plz help:'( nice sound :D

  • brill great tut very helpful!

  • that sound is fucking great dude!

  • Thank you, dude.

  • Ive been looking for sounds to make piano roll solos with and had no idea about this :f

    Thanks man.

  • hha, I wa thinkning SICK, too

  • That's fucking SICK! Excellent job man! Sounds pretty much like the real thing!

  • that doesnt sound anything like a 303 but it sounds nice anyway.. filterfreakin always does

  • While it's true you won't get the silver box sound using any digital method, you can sometimes use replicas in a subtle manner without anyone really noticing.

  • that was a great tutorial man thamx so much

  • check out my beats lemme know what u think

  • good tutorial

  • Thanks a lot man! This totorial has been very helpfull.

Before this I've been using WASP when I wanted about the same sound. Since I don't have the full version of WASP that was a problem but not anymore it aint!

    (5/5) ;)

  • when i use the fast dist, and bloody overdrive on my kicks, i always get clicking no matter what:S does that have to do with my speakers or...?

    someone help me out pleasse

  • fast distortion an bloody overdrive are distortion people usually don't use them on kicks its too powerful for the bass in the kick

  • Dude, using distortion on a kick will always give you a click of some size. Short percussive sounds basically are Clicks or Transients. Clicks contain a lot of high frequency content.

Distortion creates even more high frequencies. So the solution is to keep the output volume on the Distortion effect at a low setting. Also lower the volume of your host program, in this case Fruity Loops.

If that doesn't work, then you could try using an Equalizer to lower the volume of the higher frequencies.

  • Nice sound!

  • can you download different synths and stuff for it because the current ones suck like i can make better sounds on Ejay...

  • yeah, just google vst synth =)

  • can't touch rebirth ..

  • that's hella fucking sick lol

  • Good job, but better way is to use VST for basslines.

  • ReSetRecords:

    TS404 IS a vst :)

  • Thanks man!!

    :D

  • check out my beats lemme know what u think

  • I tried making this bassline, check out my latest project to see how I used it! ;)

    great tutorial

  • Fucking nice

  • I like the sound, I think it's a good lead. It's different from the TB-303 and still really good, It's like a yogurt kind of smooth, squishy, but almost like wet concrete running through your fingers saw lead, you know what I'm talkin' about?

  • holy crap this is awesome.. make more tutorials on anything I will watch it.

  • some one that got's extra sound (soundfonts) plz send a respond* and you'll det my msn or... :D

  • Good job sounds sick!

  • sweet!!!

  • nice

  • OMG nice thnx man :)

  • very good tutorial! tank you !

but you 've a piano keybord ?

  • Hey, I like your clean language when explaining the tutorial, very informative! It's hard to see what you are doing though, if you could record with that thingie other tutorial videos have when its zoomed in on the coursor area it would be much easier to understand what you are doing and what you are using. =) Thanks for doing these vids!

  • thanks

  • Oh damn that sounds sick!!! Just wondering though how long did it take for you to get a good feel for making synths from scratch?

  • cool cheers m8

  • that shit is hot

  • can u post the .flp for this??

  • Nice, used BloodOverdrive on my Kick :P

only a 34sec atm =) still working on it

  • wow, he's def way better at fl than i am

  • howd u do that thing at 4:20?

  • ya, wtf was that?

  • he explains at the end but it's hard to hear him over the noise.

  • um when in the piano roll, find something callewd the CUT OFF FILTER or something.

  • Wow that is so awesome! I love how you started putting in the notes into the keyboard and it just turned into a badass melody!

  • hey I was just wondering how you did that thing with your mouse a 4:18. To change the sound of each note.

  • Right click on the grey box next to the note velocity at the bottom and change it to "Note filter resonance (Q)"

  • very good tutorial

  • wow! freaking amazing!! :)

  • Wow, thanks!

  • thanks heaps man, i've been trying to replicate 303s on floops for a while but didn't know how. helps a lot!

  • I got a lot of questions regarding the modulation I did to the piano roll at around 4:20 - the explanation of how this is done is in the video description.

  • OMG you are a fucking genius !!

  • Awesome !! 5/5

  • This is great! Im not that much into the Ts 404 usually use the Nexus! But heeey! You can go a looong way with the 404! You proved that! =)

  • Nexus is a bunch of presets. Can't do anything like that on nexus

  • great thnx :)

  • thats pretty sweet dude!

  • FL Studio is extremely underrated

  • Thanks for such a great video, I have not used FL Studio in so long and I never had a chance to play about with Velocitys or sound tweaking so this video is inspiring me to get back into this application lol

  • u talk when the bass is playing! but thanks 4 all tutorials!
