@koroseman I agree this team was stacked on offense and defense. We lost a close one to the National Champs if we won that game we could've beaten USC.
I think most people forget how good of a game Troy Smith played. Most of his passes were all on target including this one and he himself was playing an A+ game.
nothing remotely wrong with trying to pop the ball free. but when THAT failed, there was something very wrong with trying to execute a dangerous tackle -- potentially landing on a player's leg(s) -- that in no way could have prevented the score. if he'd tried the tackle in the first place it might have had a chance, given the way Homes was letting up..
He slowed about the 12, and raised his arm up showboating just inside the 10, at the 8 or 9 yard line. And as fast as Holmes is, he is slow compared to Ginn. Watch the Ted Ginn=Gone video, Ginn runs right by him when they are both in a sprint. Unless Holmes was loafing again.
I've seen that video/play and it's clear Holmes wasn't running full speed. Why would he? He's supposed to block for the WR with the ball so there'd be no point in him staying out infront. Now I'll agree that Ginn is faster but you can't base it off that video.
