Hello, this is really a marvelous recording and it's great, you share it with us.
I have a question to everyone who is reading this and is able to help me: Did Elton John ever a re-recording of this song? In the 90's maybe? Sometimes I think, I'm crazy, because, Google just finds the 1970 version of that song. But I could make a bet, that i have once listened a slower, more 80's-like, 90's-like version of that song - and it absolutley sounded like Elton's voice.
Yeah... Music conducted and directed by the famous French pop master & soundtrack compositor "Francis lai"; This track is supposed to be the first one recorded by elton john under his name.
The original record of this film is really hard to find.
It should be noted that Lai's co-writer on this obscure tune is Hal Shaper, not Sharper.

Does a re-recording exist?

No, I'm pretty sure EJ never recorded this song again.

I have two copies of the 45, it even has Elton's name spelled incorrectly: Elton Johns

@PICOSALCHICHA TWO? Surely you wouldn't mind giving one away... =P

@PICOSALCHICHA - It's not only the 45. The soundtrack LP likewise added the ending "s" to Elton's surname.

With those horns, and the buildup, it could have been a James Bond theme if Shirley Bassey sang it.

Back again. Thanks so much for putting this up. You must have spent a bit of money on this bit of vinyl.
