thank you so much for the video, I am looking forward to my first whitetail hunt after having taken 3 feral hogs I want to "move up" to a tougher animal to hunt
BTW I took all 3 hogs with a scoped,S&W .500 with the 8 3/8" barrel, it was a blast, no pun intended
would love to see more videos from you dressing other animals, they are so helpful and your dressing technique is one of the best I have seen...very helpful to us hunters with limited or no experience dressing deer, thanks again
hey dave this year is gonna be my first bow hunting season, i have never bow hunted before and i am really looking forward to it, are there any tips you can give me?
Can anyone say E coli? This is a very bad job!!!! YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ANUS....But what do I know, and people wonder why I dont eat venison unless I gut then butcher....People please REMOVE THE ANUS FROM YOUR ANIMALS RIGHT AWAY!!!!!THIS IS WHERE PARASITES AND OTHER NASTY STUFF HARBOR!!!! You can cut around it and pull it out...Or split the pelvis and pull it out!!!!Plus your meet will not taste Like deer shit!!!!!!!!!!! WOW
nice vid Dave........ive been shooting a bow since 1993, but ive only been hunting since 07......watching vids like yours help me a whole lot and saves me money........being raised in Philadelphia Pa. then moving to Ohio i realize that im a true country boy!....... also being black i look forward to changing negativity....my son now shoots a bow with me at age six......i look foward to many years hunting with my son . you motivate me to stay out there......thanks Dave.
hello dave i hunt in perry county ohio...when i field dress my deer. i start at the anus and go all the way up to the ribs jus wondering which way you like better???pllz comment me back thank you
@blaked1997 hey Blake, I prefer to start at the stomach put two bread ties on the intestine line and cut between them. then work toward the head and get the cavities empty. This method depends on how much time I have and daylight time, hope this helps.
im curious where you are hunting in ohio....im from ohio and i hunt in ashland county... alots of deer there and i just got my first deer it was a 10 pointer.there seems to be a lot more deer south of lorain county where i live....thanks for the excellent video and congrats on the hunt!
Thank you for the vid. I've never seen it done that way out hear in Washington State. I think I might it that a try this year. God willing and I get a deer. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feed back, my friend and I tagged a deer 2 yrs. ago, then he decided to cook it right away, it turned out to be chewy as hell, taste great though. We stuffed in the freezer i waited one full week to eat it then it was o.k.
Thats why I started learning about the aging process. It was blacktail deer too.
i do know about the aging process and the best length of time to hang them is 3-4 days. it lets the meat drain blood and get more tender. because the sinue and fat starts to break down. I have had t boths ways hung and not hung its still good to me! hahahah i'm a hunter
hackamore: why dont you just make the perfect field dressing video and post it yourself since your the leading expert on the subject and just wanna talk shit. good vid dave.
Dave nice video. I usually reach up inside and cut the trachea, esophogus and diaphram. Then I pick up the front legs and the guts just spill out. Takecare and keep the videos comming hunting.
I have been told that if you break the bones it could contaminate the meat with what they call the "wild taste"that changes the flavor, I have seen this done by people that hang up the deer over a bucket ; which makes alittle mess.. I was wondering if there is a way to do it like you just did without getting the bone marrow on the meat ?
1.actually the wild taste in venison comes from the sinue (sorry about the spelling) and the fat in the meat, it is also the marbling that you see in the meat remove those and you will have a lean clean taste piece of meat no different from beef.
2. people often mistake the blood (beef liver like taste) for wild game taste, the cure is to hang the game for a extended period of time being 2weeks(with appropriate conditions) is not out of question.
3. lastly cutting the bone does not taint the meat . cleaning the game properly after field dressing will ensure this. you can watch my video posted on a doe I harvested and field dress in less than 5mins and did not cut a bone!
marbleing and sinue is that like the on the beef ribs white film?
{I have never cleaned a deer only watched some of process, just gutings not chopping.}
and the wild taste I was talking about is more of a bitter taste not from lack of clean, but because B.marrow was left on at field and not cleaned right away, it to can tant the flavor, I have tasted both best to take meat off bones unbroken ;.)
i usually hunt in kentucky,, but we all go up to ohio to hunt off a guy we know twice a year... and its crazy how the huntin is up there.. i saw the biggest deer i ever saw down there,,, it was mounted though.. but i found a pretty good sized shed while i was hunting down there too
I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. Its nice.
There is software im using to send atleast 20,000 text message a day advertising my online business...it is amazing. I think they have a free demo to try as well autotextsender.(c0m) God Bless!
Okay, all of these field dressing videos have problems. This one is as good as any, but needs to be redone with these changes:
1) Have one person perform the commentary and another person do the actual dressing. There was too much huffing and puffing due to the guy being overweight and the fact that this is somewhat strenuous.
2) Have a production manager to keep passersby from intruding into the video!
3) Have a separate cameraman who can walk around the job and do closeups.
I never have known a Black fella that hunted either Dave. I have some Black friends that love to fish and have met and seen alot go fishing where I go that love Cat-fishin' and like to catch Crappie, Bass, and Northerns also.
Wonder why I've never seen any Brothers hunting?
Anyway; nice Deer Dave! Nice job on the field dress also!
I think this whould be the frist time i saw some one cut a deer in half in the field,as most whould hang the rack out the trunk.Cause here we cant cut them inhalf till check in.
thank you so much for the video, I am looking forward to my first whitetail hunt after having taken 3 feral hogs I want to "move up" to a tougher animal to hunt
