  • Great song from BSG soundtrack

  • Is it possible?! No. 7 has returned! No wonder Cavil was jealous! Your name is now officially Daniel :-)

  • 1 personne est un Cylon

Je me demande si c'est Boomer, Caprica Six ou Diana, voir peut être le frère. ^^'

  • I honestly think this is better then Moonlight Sonata, Moonlight Sonata probably much more complex key and harmonic theory and stuff, but this song has much deeper emotions...

  • What the eeffffff (frack?) who disliked this?! Really, one person had to be all defiant, it's just cuz he's too awesome...

  • thumbs up for the resurrection hub soundtrack! brilliant music to represent cylon v cylon

  • After hearing this, I'm definitely going to buy the sheet music so I can play it myself. I am so grateful they released the music so us musically-oriented fans could fully appreciate the pieces written for this series (an listening to it on a car stereo loud enough to rattle windows does NOT constitute 'appreciating it').

  • This man is truly one of the geniuses behind the masterpiece that is the new Battlestar Galactica. Just the way that he uses leitmotif to ad brilliantness to an already amazing show...

to me he is a brilliant mind...

  • Battlestar Galactica awesome.

  • This is my favorite original piano solo ever!!! I want to learn to play just for this....

  • WOW...is this like Mozart and Beethoven in SPACE??? Wow, I wish this was on Star Trek!

  • I love this song! Thank you, Mr. McCreary.

If I had a piano and hands that grown not from ass, I would play it whole day.

  • Represents the broken and strange society the cylons created for themselves perfectly. This piece is just full of awesome.

  • waaaaahhh :D i have ordet the lyrics like 2 years ago i think^^, and when i played it i just thought...wow! very difficult, well i managed to play it eventually^^, .......i thnk im gonna play it again :D

  • 1 person was on caprica during the bombing

  • Thank you Bear for uploading. This has been my favorite piece of music for a couple of months now. I will loop it during the day and it blocks out so much grey and only stirs my soul.

  • This makes me wonder: Do you happen to have any plans for any of SOCOM 4's music to be done for piano? I can imagine a few ways the main theme or any of its reprises could be converted to piano.

  • Im a fool, I see there are no dislikes and i just have to press it. Not because i hate the music.

  • Have you ever noticed that Bear is always wearing the same clothes in each of these piano solo videos?

    He's a cylon.

  • instant subscription!

  • Kind of wish I didn't delete the video of me conducting a sax quintet arrangement of this.

  • Thank you Bear for your work on Eureka, I'm sorry to hear they are ending the series. Also I appreciate your music on SOCOM 4,

  • In case some of you didn't catch on.. My previous comment was a joke

  • wonderful

  • Just wondering - do you think of this piece as two groups of three or three groups of two in each measure? I keep flip-flopping, but the melody makes me lean toward groups of three.

  • @fishfingersncustard one group of two and one group of four

  • beautifull wish i could play and create such a master peace to

  • one of my favorite pieces

  • Beautiful Bear, beautiful !

  • This is definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. I'm a HUGE fan of soundtrack scores and NO other composer's music has touched my soul as greatly as his music...except perhaps the great John Williams!

Bear, I just want to THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving us your music!!!!!! I enjoy it so immensely that I play it EVERY DAY for my massage therapy clients (forget that awful spa music!) Can't wait to get the songbook and learn to play this myself!

  • @vity01: I cannot believe you are going to critique the composer's own playing of his music. Next you're going to tell him that, "there are too many notes."

Bear, brilliantly written and played. Thank you for taking the time to upload videos. I have found so much (words cannot describe) in your music, especially the pieces for BSG. Thank you very much.

  • @imabladerunner

No, I would agree with him. Bear is a master but it sounds like he rushed this a bit. The way it is played here is definitely missing its soul, its rhythm. Listening to this, I can tell it's just notes being played, rather than an atmosphere being created and an emotion being expressed.

Don't get me wrong, without Bear, this show wouldn't of been even nearly as big a hit and as life-like a show. But even the masters are allowed to make mistakes from time to time.

  • @imabladerunner "Too many notes... It is not true, Herr Director?" Ha, ha...

I love the composer's inspiration, emotion, and his particular rythm.

  • music is the transfer of one soul's essence to another. no form of communication is neither more sincere nor more direct.

Bear, you have broken the bonds of human disunity. No other composer has ripped their heart out and transplanted it in such a way you've achieved. Never stop making music, for yours attains a height of expression that will be the goal of musicians to challenge for years to come.

  • This is the most beautiful song in BSG. Thank you Bear

  • Beautiful rendition of the song. I just finished the series and loved it.

  • Such a song of despair and loneliness. It's fantastic. Thank you, Bear, for all the music you created for BSG. I've listened to the entire soundtrack hundreds of times...I wish there was more! Thank you!

  • Bear, my beloved composer, I really like Battlestar Sonatica, it's your master piece. I heard that at least 1000x. I couldn't wait for this video. Unfortunately I am very disappointed with this interpretation. You just played notes - the song is missing its soul. I think it's played too quickly - this is not 'largo' (as defined in the songbook!). Also, there is a mistake on 1:46-8 ;-). Thanks for sharing anyway.

  • @Vity01 Do you know of a better recording of this you could link to then?

  • @workyholic ... a BETTER recording? Of the COMPOSER playing it on HIS OWN PIANO?! Is there such a thing? If you mean the recording from the show, you can buy it on Amazon.

  • @allenmonroeiii I was being sarcastic in response to @Vity01. I love this song.

  • Yay one of my favorites!!

  • Very Phillip glass, love it.

  • I fell in love with this piece as soon as I heard it.

    Truly amazing.

  • Awesome! I thought having the piano represent the Cylons on their baseships was just brilliant. Also love how you fit in Baltar's theme in the second half! Thanks for sharing.

  • Bear is definitely going to live forever.

  • @admiraln8 True

  • Excellent. I love this piece. What a shame I don't play piano. :(

  • Simply beautiful man - don't stop.

  • So beautiful..

  • One of my all time faves

  • Wonderful! At some points I expected a somewhat different note or timing; as this was no orchestra piece, could you please elaborate in what way the soundtrack and the solo piano versions differ from each other?
