  • im seeing uli on sunday, Toronto Canada!!

  • im seeing uli next week!

  • Esse cara é muito foda!!!

  • 1 pick up 5 way switch @@ Amazing guitar

  • is he johnny depp captain jack sparrow plays guitar

  • Uli has probably one of the best guitar tones out there.

  • does anyone else think he's playing the lick at 2.20 different to how it is on the original recording? i slowed down the original and it doesn't sound like he plays it with as many outside notes....maybe he's just playing it differently now? it was 30 years ago....

  • @LiamMcRaeMusic It seems to be a little different, yeah, at least from how I remember playing it. His way now makes it much easier though.

  • que guitarra tan horrible

  • does anyone know where the intro song is from? it sounds like some stratovarius instrumental

  • @Vapausorava Scorpions sails of charon

  • how could 9 morons dislike this? uli is a true master

  • Heeeey!!...The song at the beginning it's from Timo Tolkki - Flying Samir ! it's a great song!.. :D

  • スティービーレイとかイングウェイみたい

  • There are many great players out there, but Uli....TRANSCENDENTAL SKY GUITARIST! :)

  • Aye captain!!!

  • Anybody here remember a lil song called SPEEDYS COMING

  • @abregoa1 Oh yeah! How bout "Catch Your Train"?

  • captian morgan.

  • 1:45 tawn drewn drin!!!

  • The aquamarine on his guitar gives you Mana. It´s the sauron of the guitar.

  • Hendrix wants his style back.

  • @burlearth Or maybe the other way around?

  • @burlearth - Sorry, but as great as Jimi was, Uli surpassed Hendrix's skill level in the 70s and has continued to progress as a musician. Jimi couldn't play what Uli plays for the simple reason that Jimi's strats had a 2 octave range and Uli's 7-string Sky guitars have close to a 6-octave range. Who knows what Jimi would have accomplished had he lived, but Uli is alive and still raising the bar for electric guitar virtuosity. He is The Master.

  • @chosenfool It's not Jimi's fault that death got in the way and skill level does not equal musicality regardless of how many frets you put on your guitar. Uli's also pretty old-fashioned in his style these days.

  • @burlearth I wasn't saying that Uli is better than Jimi because his guitar has more frets and I certainly wasn't disparaging Jimi or his playing, but you can't deny that it takes a very high skill level to play a guitar with a 6-octave range. Regardless of the reason why, Jimi never did it. Obviously, Uli took a lot from Jimi's style and would be first to acknowledge that. Even Jimi had his influences. Uli broke new ground by developing a unique instrument and playing it like a virtuoso.

  • Fucking genius. Uli Jon Roth rules!

  • What is wrong w the majority of u people insisting on comparing this Yngwie fella to whomever. There's a bloke from here Mike Harris, that can copy anything Yngwie does. And make no mistake he writes his songs, but is enamoured with Y.Had he linked up with a singer like myself, you'd all be fighting over Michael vs.Uli.Dumb.Take Jimi&way after he,May,Beck,Guy,Gibbons,Cray&whoREALLY influenced Eddie,Derringer.Fight 'bout that now.My boy,Warren, who's in Heaven, better than the lot of 'em.Miss you Son.

  • Awsmoe song!

    but..

  • @codyandcambria LMFAO!

  • @codyandcambria Hahahaha, great comment.

  • @codyandcambria lol i read your comment before watching the video and was all like "WTF?" now i get it.

  • @codyandcambria I thought he looked familiar!..{good one-still laughing}I bet Schenker would get a jolly on that one as well.

  • @codyandcambria How would he if he lost his hand?

  • Uli is so unique!

  • cool,he looks like hes from 1650.

  • cool brother bring back that late 60s early 70s look like hendrixx n great playin brother really good man.

  • BEST rock/ metal-guitarist ever!

  • Legendary guitar riff!

  • cool guitar.OMG

  • One of them had 36, another had 42, and another was fretless. Still far beyond the range of others. If you look, the lowest few are bigger. They are spaced out in whole tones instead of semitones, because the frets at that range would be far to small to play

  • Am I seeing things, that looks like a 27 fret guitar.

  • @glenn98827 its 31 isnt it

  • he looks like peter pan's pimp.

  • I HATE THE COMMENT BOX AND THE STRICT COPY OWNER RIGT POLICY ON YOUTUBE FUCK GOOGLE

  • damn !! that pirate can rock !!! :D

  • to me he is and allways will be the guitar pimp

  • Holy fuck, he's so smooth. It's like watching a waterfall.

  • i met Uli 2008 in thessaloniki greece the man is amazing and respectful and i take with hem 2 photos check my face book profile ( moody mustaine ) just one thing i wanna say he is great peson he love hes fans he spend with them long time before the show and more time after the show

  • i met Uli 2008 in thessaloniki greece the man is amazing and respectful and i take with hem 2 photos check my face book profile just one thing i wanna say he is great peson he love hes fans he spend with them long time before the show and more time after the show

  • Uli looks like some cool swordsman back in the days. Awesome guitar skills.

  • What a gross tinny sounding guitar, jesus how does he use that piece of shit.

  • @freaknbigpanda Please, understand one thing, he just wants to show the fingers job, with a little sound, no help from any distortion, just to focus on the fingers, cos' this is the best way to work, you must be more precise, to become a better guitar player, you could even play it on an acoustic guitar. Amen (lol)

  • @freaknbigpanda I read his bio, he actually had a person offer to make him a guitar, he designed it, originally it was just a tear drop shape but it looked too plain so he added all of that other stuff, it also has 32-42 frets depending on which one he is using, and fun fact.... his rhythm pickup is hidden under the fretboard!!

  • ummmmm hell of a good guitar player but what is with the outfit?

  • @workingman321 Uli is very into hippie stuff and medievil stuff

  • His guitar sounds like shit. I guess that's what happens when you design a guitar for its appearance rather than sound.

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith lol actually he designed it for sound xD, there is a video here on youtube where he explains the electronics and stuff.

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith ?? lol he had his guitars custom made thats how he likes it dumb ass thats how his guitar playing always sounds GTFO

  • @Mastercaster1984 Thank you for your contribution : ) It still looks like crap and it still sounds like crap.

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith thats your shitty opinion no1 agrees go listen to rap u wigger

  • @Mastercaster1984 Wow, what a lovely thing to say ^_^ The thing with opinions is that they're subjective and I don't actually give a shit what yours (or anyone else on here) is, so yeah. Also, nice aim - I'm a rock guitarist who just so happens to think differently to most people commenting on this video. I'd better crawl away from the computer and cry in the dark... lol, jk. ; )

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith im sorry but you wrote a paragraph and I dont have time to read it sorry

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith Seriously... you could've fooled me when you said you're a guitarrist. That guitar costs about 25.000$. Do you know why? It's probably THE guitar with the most clean sound ever. Check out the pickup, for instance. No respectful guitarrist says this guitar sounds like shit. Even with distortion this guitar will sound better than any of your guitars, even at rock music. So, your opinion as a guitarrist, on this video, equals 0, for obvious reasons.

  • @YunaPT Don't care. You've just asserted that my opinion is invalid because of how much his guitar cost - that's not an argument. I might as well say his guitar sounds like shit because he is full of shit. Not bothered; he wasted his money and you're wasting both of our time. Learn how to spell guitarist, too. You only end up embarrassing yourself. I am a respectful guitarist - I just don't respect him or you ^_^

  • @thebigbadjohnsmith it's funny that, when I write a comment I expect someone inteligent enough to read it, and not some mentally challenged individual such as yourself. You see, unlike you, I can build up a propper argument, instead of: " I might as well say his guitar sounds like shit because he is full of shit". Either way, you're full of shit. Respectul guitarist? You can't be serious, that's just hilarious xD

By the way, you are gay, you should see a doctor.

  • Uli is one of Malmsteen's influence & both are legend. Awesome!!!!

  • Man, Uli Roth is the man man, he's just awesome. Love his voice, and no homo. he's just an awesome person to watch. He talks like my Grandfather.

  • i didnt know jack sparrow played guitar!

  • His guitar is so goofy but cool. Anyone know how many strings? :O

  • @instrumentalmind 7 strings and 32 frets. Yes, 32.

  • the skyguitar is a work of art, but his sound is much better with his old strat

  • @L0stH0riz0n21 i think that Uli play different with the strato and the sky. with the strato plays with scorpions and electric sun in a style more like to hendrix a little of neoclassic style. and with the sky he plays Necassical style full. I like both because they cant be comparative for me of course.

  • ...and to think that this came out in fucking 1977!! Taken By Force is one of the most complete sounding albums ever...next to Fly to the Rainbow, Houses of the Holy, Sabotage and Animals...

  • I remember the very first time I heard Scorpions. It was 'Catch Your Train'. I had an erection for a full month. Couldn't leave the house. It was AWESOME!!! I developed a good part of my style from elements I swiped from that Uli off that track. Thank you Uli Jon Roth for being born. THERE'S NO ONE LIKE YOU!!!

  • @AceOfHeart2012

I know where you're coming from. "Catch Your Train" is right up there! I also love the solo on "Backstage Queen." Of course, this "Sails of Charon" thing set many people's brains on fire too.

  • Uli is so awesome. He speaks like my grandfather, really. love how he just moves his pick hand, it looks so awesome.

  • Uli isn't from planet earth, just in case you didn't know.

  • Man, are his frets scalped? They look like it to me and that is bad ass. I'm currently trying to learn this and it's kinda tricky >.<

  • I hate that guitar so much..

  • @sixxthunderbird 30 i think

  • @sixxthunderbird i do to, but gotto love what comes out of it

  • how many frets are on his guitar????

  • Comment removed

  • This tone is not from this world!

  • his picking at 1:46 is kinda creepy looking right?

  • They would be no Yngwie without him or Blackmore...

  • just glides across the board how many years of experience and playing has developed such master technique

  • amazing solo!those people who dont know what music is and alwayz comparing can eat shit! perfect improvisation, best combination of technique and feel.Uli roth is a Legend, and so many other legends are born from him.

  • hhh 7 strings and 31 frets !!!!!!

  • @KARNAGE94 32 frets to be exact

  • oh my god why this is guitariste is not known ??????????

  • @KARNAGE94 Because mainstream music nowadays regards talent or anything creative as "stupid".

  • Even in clean tone, his guitar is sustaining and singing! And all that with clear note definition. Malmsteen CAN"T touch him!

  • Scolloped Guitar. This is Marty Friedman's Inspiration, and if you dont know who Marty friedman is...you better learn more

  • Comment removed

  • You can spot the dummies: they're tripping about his hat. You don't notice the smart ones so much, because they're busy learning cool guitar stuff.

  • He is a good guitarist, right. But damn! How far would you go, when you design your image to get famous? My antivirus alarmed and my new laptop froze when i started to watch this vid. :)

  • It sucks, you need a 36 fret guitar to play this...

  • That hat is fucking tasty lol xD

  • i guess when you're as good as Uli you can wear whatever you want. who's gonna call him on it? haha

  • His vibrato is sexy like animal

  • who the hell is he?

  • Really beautiful guitar model.

  • ok. I give up.

  • scalloped fingerboard?

    how much frets?!?

  • @Amedeorocker93

The original sky guitar have 32 frets and 7 strings... O.O

  • hit the string first then bend...dude, thats the 1st lesson...

like him, but he's not that what many of you say...

  • Almost reminiscent of the jazz standard 'Caravan' by Duke Ellington. Awesome song and pirate hat!

  • @TheLionMan123 Dude, I thought I was the only guy who noticed that. I was listening to the original recording and I heard the Caravan melody quoted. I rushed to youtube to see exactly what he is doing and here it is! Well, what can we say, Uli Jon Roth was not only a classical disciple but a jazz aficionado as well. I mean a lot of his licks are jazz influenced so I reckon he listened to a lot of jazz standards when he was young. The Caravan quote is most likely the evidence.

  • You can't beat this..... it's just SURREAl!

  • his swedish accent even though he is german?

  • maestro......

  • He is awesome he not only makes music with those hands he makes life, pure emotions. ULI ROTH is simply the best and most sophisticated guitar player ever existed, malmsteen and hendrix are good but uli is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha his clothes dont go too well with his sveeeedish acceeenttt yaaaaaa?

  • as impressive as that guitar looks it has the same tone as any piece of shit you could find in a pawn shop for $50.

  • @hummarstra ok go buy that piece of...oops i forgot...u cant buy it

  • Why 6 people don´t like this???

I think the first 1 1/2 minutes of this song are the best ever played on an e-guitar

  • someone that have tabs

  • the solo is incredible

  • haha, his fretboard is huge, there's like 30-some-odd frets there

  • I'm gobsmacked! Great technique, the violining, the awesome vibrato, the use of the bar, it just all sounds different, more musical than Yngwie (as technically brilliant as he is). And the guitar sounds really clean tone-wise too, no lashings of distortion to hide any sloppiness. Now, if only could point Uli towards a decent tailor ...

  • It's actually dominant Phrygian, or Phrygian with a raised third

  • sexy vibrato

  • does any one know what mode hes in???

  • @slayerrocker000 phrygian

  • Don't want to burst any bubbles out there but no one plays it like the original Uli Jon Roth. Seen him at H.O.B. N.O. around 2004 he opened for M.S.G. Others can only learn from him. He is a natural. He is the school. With that being said I will allways love Malmsteen, who is one of the greats. Lets stop all this Who is better than Who BS. and lets continue to rock and roll. I really like Ace Frehley. ha!

  • what a legend man!!!

  • that guitar is worth waaaaaaay more then u could guess

  • @SurfSwift I've seen a single screw of a pickup-cover of a '57 les paul fo for ~3500 bucks.

So i guess I CAN guess the worth of the sky guitar ^^

  • man this guy is cool!

  • 2:09 2:22

How inspiration this man is !

    Uli awesome !

  • That is one ugly ass guitar, but the guy however is awsome.

  • So good at the volume swells...

  • not one of you gets it ???... This guy LOVES so much what he does , the guitar i mean , that he is willing to PERSONALLY teach you his craft WITHOUT ANY FEE !!!! that guy i call a HUMAN being !!!

  • @jimmyman70 hate to break it to you jimmy, but i think guitar world kinda paid him to make this video. hes still a human being though. no doubt.

  • Now i can picture how a god will look like.

  • GOD GOD !

  • call him the teacher who wants to teach you and you!

  • is that guitar have a neck pickup under the fretboard?couse it looks like it haves

  • He can dress how he wants. And you do dress how you want i would imagine. no one is telling you how to dress so shut the fuck up you bitch. This is where metal came from and they always dressed similar to this. obviously you dont know metal yourself. so keep your mouth shut and never insult this guitar god again you fucking dumbass...

  • @RobinLaliberte Yes he can dress the way he wants... If he wants to look like an idiot he can and so can you Robin my friend.... And do i know metal? Yes I do! He's doing fine! Give my regards to metal.

  • dude he looks bad ass you cant say shit motherfucker

i wish i would dress like that because he has real style

  • @jasonhmetal1 You wanna look like that? I'm sure you will get lots of male friends who wanna f#%ck you in the ass. Have fun my friend!

  • His tone has always been so singing and violinistic, the sky guitar is a legend in it's own rite. All those damn lil 13 yr olds can take their malmsteen and shove it up their asses, I'll stick with Uli.

  • Whats ironic is that i'm slightly older than that, and i fucking love neoclassical metal/rock. I'll admit that ninety percent of my generation is full of screamo pop twats. Also, is the Sky guitar a one of a kind guitar? Or is it produced as a signature?

  • @this0is0sam Thats good, I see so many little kids running around with their malmsteen shirts and just because they can barely make it through one 3-string minor arpeggio they think theyre the best thing to ever pick up a guitar. And nope, theres only 5 Sky guitars in the world, and Uli owns all of them, lol.

  • @Violencedefined666

Oddly enough, Uli doesn't own all of them. He gave one to Malmsteen as a gift.

But I agree with everything you say and thensome.

  • @Ozymandius666 Oh dont get me wrong about Malmsteen, the dude is one incredible musician, it's just the fanboys I cant stand, lol. And I didnt know that, I would never play it if i were Malmsteen, Id build an altar around it and worship it everyday. Has it ever been released as a sig. model?

  • To my knowledge, Dean is suppose to be releasing a Ulit Jon Roth Sky guitar signature model. Yes, thats right, THE SKY GUITAR WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THE MASSES!

  • @Ozymandius666 Then there is a god....Uli be thy name.

  • @Ozymandius666 Not exactly true. Dean guitars have made a limited run of 50 Sky guitars under Uli's supervision and were sold at the Winter NAMM 2010 show. Each one being inpsected, played, and named by Uli himself.

  • @Violencedefined666 Not exactly true. Dean guitars have made a limited run of 50 Sky guitars under Uli's supervision and were sold at the Winter NAMM 2010 show. Each one being inpsected, played, and named by Uli himself.

  • @Violencedefined666 haha yngwie

  • @jackno7daniels that sh!ts for stuck up g-tar snobs.

  • @Violencedefined666 malmsteen is more skilled

  • @Violencedefined666 Or you could like both but whatever you want.

  • @Violencedefined666 I just wonder: why do everybody like violin-like guitar tone? Personally, I want my guitar to sound like no other. It's a screaming sound from the wildest instrument: e-guitar!

  • @Violencedefined666 I am 13 and like Uli much more than Malmsteen...

  • @Violencedefined666 Who do you think influenced malmsteen's swedish ass...fuck him, he should've stuck to the violin that arrogant repetitive, non-creative biiiiiiiitch :D

  • @satanicherpes Shut up bitch, Malmsteen is better than you at everything.

  • @NisseEricsson You Dont Have Idea Who is This Men, this men create who is now Yngwie and he mix hendrix and Neo Classical Music, That's Uli , The master of Yngwie. But Yngwie don't paly with feelings. You Can play well but if you don play with feelings solmething is missing and Uli have it, Yngwie no. From Argentina.

  • @alesanz95 I repeat: "Shut up bitch". Don´t speak shit about Malmsteen. I love both Malmsteen and Roth, but just because you like one doesn´t mean that the other one is bad. You are just ignorant and blind, because Malmsteen has an incredible feeling and passion into his playing.

  • @Violencedefined666 DAMN STRAIGHT!
