For years... legalization groups have promote the tomato model as one that will best suit the future economic model of marijuana. if you wanna buy your tasteless Mexican tomatoes (or your brick weed) go right ahead. On the other hand I buy my produce from small local growers. I pay a little more (10%-15%), but it's worth the difference when considering the quality. Not to mention the support for a local farmer that you can you trust.

The fact is that we NEED to legalize! We are going completely broke maintaining the facade as is! This just sounded like fear-mongering to me. All we have to do is make ABSOLUTELY sure that mom and pop growers will (after having paid a "reasonable" licensing fee) be able to grow and bring their own product to market. In Oregon's policy for micro-brews would serve as a suitable legal framework for this purpose. We still have Coors, but for a little more you can get a good Oregonian IPA!

@KOmaSHOOTER If we do it the right way you won't have to. I do think that the intention behind taking down Marc Emery was in fact to kill competing seed producers before legalizing. However, there is more than enough people growing their own to ensure a significant diversity of products should we ever get smart enough to fully legalize.

@KOmaSHOOTER If the open market is too expensive it will force too many people to grow their own....You heard the man "pennies on the pound". When it is that cheap to grow your own outdoor-indo, why would you go to the store and pay some asshole $400 an ounce for it? Even if you were growing it indoors it would cost you $30 PER PLANT (each producing 5 to 12 ounces of bud). If it is too expensive on the shelf, you also have to worry about unlicensed growers undercutting you on the street.

The DEA is legalizing marijuana for big pharma companies to produce prescription drugs from, but keep it illegal for everyone else. Good? Bad? I dunno.

although this is the best response I have seen frim normal on th post prohibition market...I just dont see our countries best interests served by the corporate farm model. A system of indoor growers, producing a quota of weed is much more beneficial. More jobs and therefore more benefits for more people.

Now we have created a system where the growers and state governments will oppose any model that will bring the price down, and with that, the sales tax down also. This was partly the reason why Prop 19 failed. The growers are happy and do not want to adapt if they don't have to.

Of course not giving it to the sick is wrong so that is not an issue. So where to go from here? Perhaps mobilize voters who have no desire to grow it but would love to use cannabis legally to vote on future props maybe?

Here's hoping that we all get to grow our own cannabis one day without fear of prosecution. Also, at the very least, if people don't want to grow it themselves, I want to see an open market where anyone (with a license) can sell it as well.
