  • what kind of curlers are these? They look like good quality. :)

  • you're very pretty :)

  • @oxfordpictionary I just put them in somewhat haphazardly, although I am sure to keep a side part in place the entire time. Smaller rollers towards the front/face and larger ones towards the back.

  • beautiful - with and without makeup. Thanks for this

  • Can you do a video on how you brush out your hair after the hot rollers to get this look? I've heard that the brush out process is the most important thing when trying to achieve vintage looks, so I don't wanna mess that part up haha.

P.S. I love your videos and blog :)

  • @funkyfashionfever If you search for "Vintage Hair with Lolita Haze" here on YT, she has a fantastic tutorial on brushing out! (YT won't let me direct link, unfortunately.)

  • any suggestions on how long to keep the rollers in for us gals with poker straight obnoxious hair?

  • @NyxSeraphim I'd recommend clipping them in with some small sectioning/alligator clips (you can buy them by the box at Sally's) to help keep things in while they're cooling! :)

  • That bang tip was very helpful. Thank you.

  • could you also tell me how you did your makeup? along with the hair it looks great!

  • @thespecialestk2 Unfortunately, I did this video so long ago I don't remember how I did this particular look. You might want to refer to some of my other makeup videos for a general idea of how I do my daily look. :)

  • my hair is layered so when I roll it in rollers sometimes some strands would stick out... leaving some random straight ends as a result. Any tips on that? Thank you! =)

  • @wandaki88 I tend to spritz a teeny bit of hairspray on each strand end before I wind it on the roller, and find this helps a lot with keeping them smooth and tucked in! :)

  • Thank you so much!! I needed a 40's hairstyle for the theatre production Guys & Dolls. This really helped!!

  • I love the look! Do you have any tips regarding the brush out? Such as what directions you brush? And what kind of product do you use to slick the sides?

  • @MsBroadwayBrunette Lolita Haze has some great tips on brushing out a 40s set; her channel name is LolitaHaze1 . I generally use just a bit of hairspray and/or a smoothing serum to tame the frizz to slick back the sides.

  • Doll, you look beautiful with OR WITHOUT makeup. Don't sell yourself short. <3

Thank you for making the comment about long hair, that's going to help loads. <3

  • @TwilightFaeTime Aw... thank you so much!!! :)

  • thank u :)

  • thank you for posting this video! i was wondering though, besides the top roller which you said is rolled forward, what direction do u roll all of the other rollers? you're hair is fantastic :)

  • @dainagolden The side rollers are rolled downwards and the ones at the top towards the back are rolled toward the back of the head.

  • This video's great, and make it look kind of managable!

was your hair wet or dry and did you use any setting lotion or product on it??

    Thanks

  • @electicboogaloo

Thank you! I didn't use anything for setting lotion, and my hair is completely dry when I used hot rollers. :)

  • If you don't mind me asking what kind of hot rollers did you use? I love how your hair looks!

  • @hiddenfirre I just use a Remington set I picked up at Target a couple years ago--I think it was less than $25! :)

  • you made it so easy to understand i can't wait to try it thank you

  • how long did you leave your rollers on for?

  • @jhoannamarieee It depends, but usually 30-40 minutes, or until they are completely cool!

  • I totally subscribed to you because I love the hairstyles you do! Thank you :)

  • @ennosenze25 Glad you like them and thank you for subscribing! :)

  • your videos are great! you have a really great way of explaining things in a simple way, which makes following along SO easy! I do have one question for you though - how would you describe your hair? would you say that it is more fine, or thicker? i ask only because i have very thick hair myself, and i want to attempt your 1940's look.

  • @kelsinator90 Thank you! :) My hair is definitely very thick and has a lot of texture to it. I actually think 40s looks that are along these lines tend to do best on gals with thick/textured hair (helps hold the curl and make it look full) best. :)

  • I love yor hair!

  • My video response I meant to Thank You, I think I have it, this was my first attempt.

    Love your videos.

  • you talk a lot. it would be much better if u just show how u did ur make up and ur hair. dang.

  • Thank You so much, Excellent

  • This looks amazing! I would love to try it for a 1940's concert I'm attending with my father in a few weeks, but I'm kinda scared. My hair is really thick and coarse, I have a low hairline, lots of baby hair and frizz...basically, it's horrible. I really I wish I could pull this look off but I don't know if I can? My hair is all the same length, and between my shoulders and shoulder blades length wise.

  • My Lord!! GORGEOUS

  • I lobe what you do with your hair and makeup! Is been over a year since you uploaded it vids. Please start makeing more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you dont look scary at all. in fact i remembr a girl that looked like you in the beginning and people seemed to think she was just so cute so...

  • u have inspire me to get going on the 40s look!

  • you look amazing! thanks for posting!

  • Love your vids

  • I wanna get my hair done that way for prom this year.

    It's so gorgeous.

  • how long do u leave them in for

  • love it......

  • awesome!!!!!!!!! i love your videos!!!!!!!!!

  • great job. i loved the curls. u just taught me how to do that. thanks . i love old-fashioned do's

  • you're still beautiful without make up! magnificent!

  • wow, you look just like rachel mcadams in the notebook =)

    you both are beautiful.

  • That's gorgeous!! :-D

  • You're very beautiful even w/o make-up. Thanx a lot for this very useful video.

  • what type of curlers specifically did you buy .. i'm so tired of my hot iron :(

  • My ahir now look AMAZING =] Tahnkyou!!!!!!! xxx

  • You are really beautiful with no make up :)

  • When you roll your hair do you sleep on it overnight or wake up in the morning and roll it?

  • your very cute love all your videos helped me a lot

  • My school is doing this play called The Musical Comedy Murders of the 1940's and I am doing the hair for the girls and guys. I've watched a great deal of your videos for the girls and I'll have to say it helped me alot. But with the guys, I have not idea. Do you have anything on guys hair?

  • what lipstick are you wearing in this video?

  • why do so many girls feel that they are terrifying without makeup ?*rolls eyes*.

    it's stupid

  • i agree

  • I have very curly hair. Is is going to work for me?

  • what sort of brush do you use to brush out your set? i've got a paddle brush and i'm not sure it's quite right for this.

  • you dont look scary w/o makeup! =]

  • what kind of hot rollers do you use?? :)

  • Im fron spain and I fall in love with u thanks, i am 19 yearsold and i love pin up style (L)

  • you are beautiful...i cant believe how georgeous you are.

  • @ cicipandabear

you brush it out after taking the rollers out.

to give it that nice curly wavy look to it :)

but thats optional. you can have it curly.

  • cute

  • i have a question!!!!!

do you brush out the curls after taking the thingies out?

or do you just leave the curl alone after you take it out?

  • You can either gently comb the curls out with your fingers or brush them out - depending on what look you're going for. I usually just use my fingers since my hair sucks at holding curl anyway and I don't want them to disappear completely, you know?

  • why are they called "hot" rollers? Do they involve heat?

  • ahh i love it!!

and you look pretty damn good without makeup unlike me haha (:

  • Gawsh thatt looks so pretty! I love 1940's fashion, it's lovely!

  • brilliant! thanks! i always have issues with my fringe/bangs - i only use hot rollers and i've always been at a kind of loss as to what to do with the front bit so i don't end up looking like a poodle! haha thanks!

  • okay this is exactly what I'm looking for hair wise, but i need this hairstyle for a musical I'm in and obivously it seriously has to completely stay in place, essentially glued to my head. will this kind of hairstyle stay in place while dancing insaneouly for an hour and a half if i take some aquanet to it?

  • UHM! UHM! OK nice videos, but stop with the Uhm!

  • Could you perhaps make a video on how you finish your look after the rollers are removed. I think I brushed mine out too much, and now I am a poofy mess!

  • i second that! i did a wet set the other night and couldn't BELIEVE how much of a pain it was to brush out my curls. an hour later, still had a head full of ringlets, pretty much, and had no idea how anyone gets that lovely wave in the front, not to mention avoiding the shirley temple look. a brush-out video would be incredibly helpful.

  • ok, i have been looking for hot rollers for a LONG time..does anybody know wher i can get em'

  • NOt usre where you liver but you can buy them pretty much everywhere... beauty supply stores (ie-Sally's), Target, Walmart and the set I have I happened to find at TJMaxx. Anywhere hairdryers and curling irons are sold, you should find them. If all else fails, try amazon or overstock.

  • what is the songs name at the and at the beginning?? thank you.

  • you look cute and fresh with no make-up

  • oh wow! i never even thought to separate my hair front from back!

i've always done it top to bottom! and ended up looking too vintage. like Victoria powdered wig vintage,

but this video totally helped! i got my hair to get that hedy lamarr look i've been trying to get forever!

    THANK YOU! *bows repeatedly*

  • Lmfao magpie0 that little bit about Victorian powered wigs made me literally laugh out loud. (Seriously, in an obnoxious sort of way) The visual was hilarious!

You just made my day :)

  • I just tried this and it works great! (except the fact that it doesn't hold that well for me...)

I did do the bang, and I did get that iconic bang, only I couldn't get it as "elevated" as you did ..Mine just was against my face although I did get that certain wave.

How did your bang to be so elevated and to the side like that?

  • Oh so glad you posted this video. I was looking for instruction on how to do this hairstyle and yours is the best that I have found. Thank you!

  • gorgeous. you look like your living in the 40's!

  • ive done it alil more different i still get the same effect.

  • how much would you spend on hair rollers

  • hello...i just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this video!! I've looked everywhere online for a complete explanation on how to get this 1940s look and you did it perfectly!!!

  • Hey, I just realised something! The same hair would probably work for 80's wouldn't it? Just add HUGE earings, and lots of wild makeup. :P

  • that is so cool!!!!!!!!!! i so wish girls will bring that stuff back u know?!? i honestly cant stand the whole straightning stufff nowadays. props to u, and u are totally gorgeous!

  • I love this, thanks alot I'm definitely using this :)

  • Thank you so much!

  • Sweetdreamsemma got it right! :) (Thank you!)

  • what about using a hooded dryer i had my hair done in an older salon and they rolled my hair and used a dryer and it gave a great look i'd like to know how to do that on my own.

  • I don't have any experience with hooded dryers, so I can't offer any advice. :/

  • Comment removed

  • I have the same rollers as her (If I remember correctly they are Remington). She is using two medium rollers at top. On the sides she is using 2 medium (the red) and 1 small (the white). The back was done with large rollers (the black). And the very bottom row was done with the medium size. HTH

  • CA-UTE! I love this hairstyle but my hair isn't long enough yet...but roller sets are the best ever

  • Thank you for your help!

  • ur pretty without make up too

  • soooo pretty!! ♥♥

  • i would've liked to see the unrolling, and how you actually shaped the hair.

turned out so Lorain McFly! gorgeous!

  • Oh you do not look scary wiithout make up unlike me now there is a nightmare

  • Do you roll all of the rollers forward, as you do with your bangs at the front? Or do you roll some forward and some back?

  • I only roll the front bang section forward, although sometimes I will roll the top roller directly behind that forward as well. The others at the top are rolled back, and the remaining ones are rolled downwards. :) Hope that helps!!!

  • i think you look lovely with or without make up. :)

  • Oh very nice!

Would this setting pattern work well with sponge rollers also? I have really thick hair and sponge rollers seem to work best for me. :)

  • I think this would work well for sponge rollers too! It'd be a bit of a tighter set, I think, so you might have to brush it out a little more. If you do try, let me know how it works with those!

  • Did you buy your accesssory at the Chinese Pavilion shops by any chance? AWESOME stuff there! Great little video, once again. :)

  • I got this little bobble at the Japanese shop (my husband and I must have spent about 2 hours in there... lol!). I did buy a couple things at the Chinese shops though--including a long-coveted paper parasol! :)

  • Thank you!

I love hot rollers and my new love is pincurls! I love getting beautiful curls without using heat!

Thanks for the tip about the bang area!

    xx

  • I love how your hair looks! You make the cutest videos :D

  • I desperately want some hot rollers. I think I'm gonna get some tonight after watching. Definitely beats curling iron drama.

  • I agree--I can't use a curling iron to save my life! lol (Well, maybe in that instance, but I always end up burning myself. Ouch!)

  • I use hot rollers too.

    Yay for the 40's!

    I love that time period!
