I could never stand her, she's smug always thought she was something out of this world.
The only question she ever asks "are you in Broadway".. then it's obvious she FREAKING CHEATED by looking down the side of her nose, always nudging her mask to see.
Dorothy's probably cheated on half the shows to win, she was certainly not smart enough to deduce that many personalities.
Being a kid from the 80's I never saw much old-Buddy Hackett... but I love him now, watching old videos, he was truly a character... Looking back at him, Rickles, Marx Bro's, Stooges, I just wish I could have been there in the heyday and seen them in all their glory. Though Rickles is still around and owning ever appearance he makes... And I love Buddy's little squintey-eyed drawing of himself in his signature.
Buddy was an odd-looking and odd-sounding little fellow, but a more delightful character never lived! He was delightfully funny, (sometimes just a little blue!) and a total original. RIP Buddy. We miss you.
buddy was a great stand up comic - did most of his work in vegas and such not in movies - check him out on the dean martin show and johnny carson on u tube - he is hilarious!
Buddy was always on. Like Mel Brooks. Funny on stage and off. My dad played golf with him once and Buddy shanked a shot into the woods. Then he comes running out of the woods screaming at the top of his lungs with a snake dangling between his legs. Of course it was a fake snake. Buddy talked like he had a mouth shot up with novacaine. He used it to his advantage. Made us laugh with him, not at him. Hooray for Hackett! Funny man he was.
@SwineForkbeard Oh dear, he DOES look a bit like Barney Frank. At least Buddy has teeth! (There's no excuse Mr. Frank. If you no longer have your own teeth, go buy some dentures or implants and USE THEM!)
I saw his Las Vegas act, and it was Hysterical! A fabulous comedian, and a truly funny guy!

His Irish accent was very good. Rare enough to see Americans put on a credible Irish accent. Tom Cruise take note...

Wow, Hackett had one of the most distinctive voices of film and yet the panel had quite a few wrong guesses.

GSN broadcast this in November 2008. It featured
WML's cameramen and a shot of a 1957 TV camera.
Dade County, Florida Deputy Sheriff who operates drunkometer chemical test for intoxication.
Early appearance of Buddy Hackett. He appeared on WML both as panelist and mystery guest through 1965 with regularity. Bright guy and funny.
a Gorilla Baby Sitter in Toledo Zoo
The producers of WML were geniuses at finding amusing people with interesting occuptions. What's not to love?

He's also somewhat shy and self-effacing here, which just makes him more endearing. Great clip.
