great film. one small thing that is probably me be too detail oriented, at 4:05 the father says the nurses name. he says nurse ratched. now, as some of you may know, that is the name of the nurse from the book/play/movie (movie starring Jack Nicholson) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a show also about a mental hospital. so i think they could have been a little bit more creative with the name
This is an excellent short film, with a startling twist at the end, and the question of what is reality and what is fantasy caused by mental illness is left to the viewer to decide, nothing is clear cut...I love a mystery.
May I add to my previous comment that the actors are Australian (which indeed they are, and don't call Australians British because they are not) the fact that the father is speaking with an Irish accent anyway and the son with a cultured American accent.
er to those narrow minded fools who don't like this because they say British people are gay (how stupid to say that gays exist in every nationality)..the actors in this short film are Australian!!!
The ending was very Twilight Zone cliche. Out of the smorgasboard of possibile explanations, I like to think that Son has just died, an has come to live with his dead parents. Still, great dialogue tween father and son, and that's not easy to write, and I like to see an old man still madly in love with his wife. Movies need more of those.
the director/writer / actors are actually a father and son team ... the dad is the "movie voice" you hear in most of the Steven Speilberg trailers...the son is a very up and coming actor in Hollywood

The guilt has something to do with his mother and father's deaths, possibly the knight symbolizes something deeper than just a knight...

The human psyche, His self blame has brought him into a breaking point. The blame has wrapped itself around his sanity and broken into pieces

A fragile mind can not leave behind the trauma
of a car -crash.
Clever script about a deep sense of guilty.

Dang, imagine getting yelled at by the "movie voice" for wrecking the car, or missing curfew! Must be a interesting household...
