I don't know what you mean by actual choir version. Just because they're all singing the same lines doesn't mean that it's easy. This was actually written specifically for the New Dawns and I can guarantee you there's nothing easy about it. It's in 4 parts and the harmonies are not at all simple.
The song is great only disappointment is that they chose to use the easy version with everyone having the same lines. The actual choir version is more like this:
sopran: Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel.
After sopran ends alt jumps in:
never ending or beginning on an everspinning reel (etc etc)
bass and tenor holding:
round when sopran goes to wheel bass and tenor jump to: Like a wheel (as alt nears reel bass switches to: or a reel etc etc
I do not hate this by any means ----however.....the "show" interpretation destroys the musical phrasing and they are singing things that are very over the top and gets in the flow of the musicality of what the composer wrote. It sounds like a gospel version of the song-----I am really divided about how they sang this.
This was actually arranged specially for New Dawns by Greg Jasperse. If you've heard or heard of Voicedance, he's the guy who wrote those songs. I don't know if you can get this from him specifically or what, but you can look him up and see if you can.

The singing is great, but there is something uncomforable in the way that they are standing and moving their heads.
Also, the melodramatic faces, it's scary.
It would have been better to hear it without watching it, in my opinion.
There's no synchronization at all in the way that they present themselves (unlike the singing, ofcourse).

you don't need outrageous faces to communicate a message from far a away-thats what dynamics are for.

Because it's show choir, and only faces like these read from afar.

I like the sound, but why the dramatic gushing faces. its such a gorgouse song, you dont need to act with it.

i agree, but we were told to do it. gah. plus, our faces needed to be seen by the judges.
