The last time I've watched it I must have been 4-5 years old and I'm 25 now. Nostalgia Critic reminded me that something like that existed just 2 days ago. Damn, that 7 minutes was the closest thing to time travel I'll experience ever.
@karmabum21 he's an excellent actor and is known for playing Chuck Bartowski on CHUCK at NBC, and he isn't getting credit for this he just reminded people of this ;)
I adore this song, I sang this when I was 10 maybe 11 years old to the kindergarten class and they loved it. The only problem is I sang thing in Dutch and I can't find the Dutch version of this song :(
LOVE THIS CARTOON! However, I realized for the first time yesterday while watching this that near the end, the ice wagon was obviously parked close to the storm drain because if it hadn't been, the iceman couldn't have seen Johnny. So, would Johnny not have then been able to see Alice as he was slipping with the water closer to the storm drain?
this was probably my favorite part of make mine music. I remember watching it when I was 4 years old. completely glued to the screen! I HAVE TO BUY THIS!!!!!! is it on dvd?
This was one of the many cartoons my Mum used to tape for me and my brother to watch when we grew up. She taped them when we were maybe a couple of months to a year old. Love you so much for doing that Mum :D
There's a shout-out to this song at the very end of "57821," by Janelle Monae. She bases a couple of lines on "Johnny, oh Johnny/Your Alice Bluebonnet/will always be waiting for you."
remember watching this with my nanny and she would sing along. we both loved it and watched it all the time. id love to get johnny and alice tattooed on me in memory of my late grandparents.
I had not seen this in YEARS!! But I always remembers the lyrics "in the window of a dee-partment store" and "to relay, to reley to reloo" Thanks for uploading!

Watched this when i was young. Cried everytime i watched it. Lol.
Now finally watching it again. After a long time. Cried too. )): So much memories. Johnny's cute. LOL. Esp when he heard Alice singing from 3:17 to 4:00 .
You have made me so very, very happy. This was my FAVORTIE Disney short that we would watch on Saturday mornings. Such a sweet story. I'm so grateful. Thanks!
one of my favorite disney shorts ever. i think for me it is a toss up between this one and willie the whale who wanted to sing at the met. i really miss these types of cartoons nowadays. i just don't think any of the current cartoons out there can even come close.

I am over seventy and remember watching and loving this delightful and poignant cartoon as a child. Wonderful you tube! Now not only Can I relive à happy childhood memory ... thousands of others can Discover this gem! Hope they enjoy it as much as I did!
I love the Andrew Sisters, they were extremely popular during that time. In fact they guest starred on at least one Abbot and Costello movie. One song of theirs that dad always likes to sing is "Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B". However one piece of information that most people of this generation wil more likely relate to is that Laverne the gargoyle from Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was named after Laverne Andrew!
I loved these kind of shows, shows that didn't need any words to describe what was happening. The music and the action from the cartoon was just enough. How I miss these cartoons. Cartoons are no longer like they use to be!!

MrPisster presents a classic example of missing the point. To wit: How "happy" is living your entire life separated from your one true love? Not very, I'd suggest. If you're at all alert, the "happy ending" doesn't override the fact that these two were separated for the bulk of their respective lives and only reunited at the close of day, so to speak. That's pretty dismal. Tragic.
So what we have here is just another empty accusation that Disney's worldview was saccharine.

I feel like idealism gives you something to aspire to. The times I've been happiest weren't necessarily when I had attained a goal, but when I was working toward one. If your goal is unreachable, you'll always be striving for it. That's what I think, anyway.

When I was a young child I had a book of this story that included a 45rpm record of the song - the record (played while you read the book) would "beep" when you turned the page to keep up with the song...
I've been looking for this one for a while, it makes me remember my kiddie times, makes me feel nostalgic, wonderful cartoons that unfortunately are a thing of the past.
Oh man, why don't they make cartoons like this anymore?
Even though this came out well before I was born, it still reminds me of my childhood, since Disney was still playing these when I was young. So inpirational!
For some reason, this cartoon which I saw several years ago came into my head. And, I thought it was a long shot to find it on YouTube, but here it is! It reminds me of someone I met 2 years ago. We only saw each other once, and I'd give anything to find him and see him again. We live in two different states, so it's probably not going to happen. I just cried buckets, but at the same time my heart is singing! Thank you so much!
Sadly they just don't make cartoons like this anymore. One of my many faves from my childhood. I think that Disney needs to show them again, but I'm just old that way.
I just had to check to see if it was back. I posted a comment regarding this video a little over 2 years ago, but it was removed shortly thereafter. At that point, my wife had just died of stomach cancer. This was her favorite cartoon of all time. We even have an original cel from it. To this day, every time I see it or hear the song, I think of my wonderful Ellie and remember that "true love will come smiling through."
My mom and I were thinking about all of the old cartoons we used to love, and she brought up this one. I've never seen it before (being 17 and all), but I absoultely adore it now that I have!
I decided to surprise her by looking it up. You should've seen how her face lit up when I sat her down and pressed play! Love you, mom!
Oh thank you so much for downloading this! I bought the DVD from Disney a while back but it won't play now and Disney don't reply to my complaint. But now I can watch it again - that's wonderful!!! I too loved this when I was a child and have never forgotten it. It's such perfect animation, so imaginative and sensitive and funny and sweet. I especially love all the facial expressions that they manage to give to Johnny - quite amazing. Thank you again! :-) :-) :-) :-)
This is so weird! When I used to watch this as a child and this all made perfect sense to me! I used to think that everything was alive, every piece of object or what have you existed in their own way. I love this cartoon....
Is it me, or does the bar fight scene look the almost the same as the bar fight scene in the Great Mouse Detective?

Even though this came out well before I was born, it still reminds me of my childhood, since Disney was still playing these when I was young. So inpirational!
Now...where's MY Johnny Fedora? =)

I'm a grown man shedding tears for hats. Then again that shows the pure talent and dedication of Walt and his crew.

I love this cartoon....

lol @ 2:49!
I agree. This was made back in the days when Disney's work was genius! This segment of "Make Mine Music" has "classic" written all over it!
Say, was it really manditory for horses to wear hats back then?

No but it was kind of the driver because it kept the sun off of them.
