Cat isn't made of glass people! Cats naturally move away all the time. You could put it like this "Even though you are holding me down, I kind of like this. I even find it very useful, I don't just don't let you know it but after you feed me"
I watch these videos and everyone grooms their cat as if they are in a hurry. Grooming your cat needs to be a slow process, especially with a comb as strong as the furminator. It's no surprise people claim the furminator "pulls" or "tears" their cats fur. They are using it wrong by being too rough.
poor kitty the furminator tears their skin appart when you deshed the cat, use something like shedzilla and it works amazing, it doesnt tear their skin and is gentle enough for vigorous use.
A tip, i never used to brush, my cats hated the furminator at first so i got a nicer rubber hand one and eased into the furminator. She loves the furminator now it's like a treat....makes things a lot easier
@xxviciousbeautyxx Ur cat probably doesn't have any loose hair at the moment is why. I bought this thing for both my dogs and cats and it usually only does anything when they're shedding. And well, ya can't expect a cat to like brushing. No cats I've ever seen have ever actually enjoyed brushing. Because weather it's hard or soft brush, you're still restricting their movements so they can't run around freely, and cats will always hate that.
@EvangeliumDiSilenti Oh yes she has plenty of loose dead fur. It's all over the place in my house and some of her fur is getting matted. I had tried it again and it took at more fur but definitely not as much as some say. I didn't expect her to like, although my other cat liked being brushed but I mean she seriously won't stay still so it's almost impossible to brush her anyway.
@viciousballa Ah. Well I dunno then. It works amazingly on all my dogs and cats. I dunno why it wouldn't work for you. Maybe you bought a knock off? And yeh. Cats just really hate brushing xD
I've used the furminator on my arm with firm strokes. It doesn't hurt and doesn't cut. It scratches a LOT less than a typical pin brush. The cat probably objects more to being restrained than anything else. There's no way to tell him it's for his own benefit.
Don't forget to wipe them down to prevent hairballs because they self bathe. And don't be so rough. Grab them behind the neck in between the shoulder blades. they can't feel anything there.
@catluver199 that's rubbish. this cat has not been hurt. all it objected to was that it was being held when IT did't want to be held. The amount of hair coming out of this coat is absolutely amazing.
@brizziegirlOZ he wasnt being held!!!!!!! and its not because he is being touched because the owner is still touching his neck and he is not jumping after
oh cmon its not like she was aggressive and if she was really hurting the cat it would have been screeching or something. anyway thats good to know that you can use it on cats...my cat needs it badly
With a long haired cat you should comb the fur whit an ordinary comb before using the furminator. If you don't the furminator will be caugt in the hair like this and it will hurt the cat.
I have one...got it brand new on ebay for MUCH less! The cat in the video definitely isn't in distress...just doesn't want to sit and be held down anymore. a cat in distress would be screeching...this tool doesn't hurt them at all.
If you don't press hard enough you will only get the top of the coat. ^^ Cats don't really care though they only whine at the time they are getting groomed :p

can i used this furminator comb on daily basis?
aimicey 1 year ago
@aimicey I recommend that you only use it twice a week because if you use it on daily basis the Furminator comb will make your cat bald.
Don't use it too rough either.

so how do you do it???
robzombay72 2 years ago
You are doing it wrong. I'm surprised you don't have blood all over. Your cat's skin is probably all cut up.
mississa11 2 years ago
y? whats the right way of doing it?
03141993idil 2 years ago
CLEARLY you have never held or used a FURminator. You couldn't cut your pet with it if you tried.

it is a very good tool, but my cat doesn't like it too...

Cats do not have delicate skin...When cats "knead", it only hurts people. Cats knead each other all the time! No pun intended.

@Rodnox Depends on the cat. I have one who loves it and another who prefers a flexible rubber comb.
