  • I love my Dave Mason!!!!! Really looked cool of seeing all the DJ's in awe/somber just watching Dave doing the acoustic thing. Looks like Dave blow the panties off ya... oxxoxoxoxoxo

  • This song is timeless...takes me back.

  • great singer just wonderful

  • rzombie666 is right the first I said was man his voice is amazing

  • Allways Loved ya Dave.

  • Absolute harmony.

  • What a guy. I love Dave's perspective. Same here. I have listened since the beginning and I and not tired of him. Great performer - beautiful soul.

  • So great. How many current performers could stand there with simply a guitar and sound like that. Even though he is in his 60's now, his voice remains great and so rich. Wonderful.

  • @bc1358 I'd have to say his voice is actually getting better with age.

  • Brings back memories for me this song, and I'm sure it does for alot of others

    Thanks for sharing!

  • That song is fantastic. Those two play it beautifully together. That song carrys a lot of emotion.

  • The only thing better than one great guitar is two great guitars!

  • This is not 'his song' as is says in the description. I can't think of the guy that wrote it, but it wasn't Dave. I still love Dave though, he does it justice absolutely

  • @willzer808 Jim Kreuger aka "Oto" of the happy scnapps combo. Rip Jim

  • @willzer808 Jim Kreuger aka "Otto" of the happy scnapps combo. Rip Jim

  • This sounds great! I love this song. Beautiful song.

  • This guy nails the song we just disagree every time he sings it and his partner's talents compliments dave mason, and let me say: I must take my hat off to you. This song tells a story that is timeless. The sound is Haunting, and always in style. Thanks for the memories.

  • Does anyone know what the chords are he is playing to the song ? I know that he is playing in open E tuning .

  • BOB and TOM are great!

  • the sound is amazing, it's got to a studio audio. I loved it.

  • He is a musical Icon. Just brilliant!

  • SMOOOOOOOTH !!!!!!!

  • Wow...What a wonderful version of this classic song...Dave still sounds fabulous!

  • when they played on Bob and Tom, they had everyone's attention. Still after all these years they sound awesome!

  • Wow. What memories that song brings back. Dave Mason is in top form even later in life. Rarely a musician retains their voice in the quality of the great Dave Mason. This was an incredible performance by an incredible musician. Yes Dave....YOU STILL HAVE IT! Thanks for the music over the years.

  • One of the greatest guitar players alive today. Amazingly, many people are unaware of this man's extrodinary talent, both as a singer and guitarist.

  • Wow still sounds good after all these years...no other voice could do this but Dave's!!

  • Still got it ! great song

  • love it, great 70s stuff.

  • @reddyeddy. First, Dave is playing a 12 string which is going to ring out and give a big fat sound as you are hearing. Next, He's playing this song in either a "G", "A" or "E" tuning not the standard "EADGBE" tuning. There is no bass player there. That's Dave doing all that which sounds like a bass underpinning the song.

  • @vincent4442 From what I've read he uses an open E tuning for this.

  • check out my live dave mason recordings "live from the big top chatauqua ! you will like ! recorded 07/24/2010 ...

  • Dave Mason is my uncle im brad mason no joke chevy my channel for proof

  • Yep, that's how that one goes. What a performance.

  • Really like dave Mason and as usual he id a great job on what I think is his finest tune. I heard a bass guitar playing but didn't see a baasist. I wonder if that was dubbed in. Just an observation.

  • @readyeddy101 The "bass" you hear is actually the low E string on Dave's guitar- I thought the same thing on first listen. That's just great, consistent technique at work, and a good job by the sound guy letting it be heard. Watch the bass notes follow his finger on the E string, it's not easy to get that out that clear every time.

  • @NickWeissMusic That is awesome. Great ability to do that

  • This song ALWAYS gives me chills!

  • Glorious.

  • Makes the hair stand up on your arms!

  • I heard he likes hair in his pies

  • 2nd The notion...Jim wrote this after a breakup , spending a couple of days in Boston !

  • Jim Kreuger wrote it and recorded the original with Dave Mason in 1977.

  • @bshdad I heard he was from manitowoc wisconsin. or the woman that its about lives there still

  • Wow, Dave does a fine job on this cover. Nice to see he is still kicking. As for Elton, He writes the majority of his music. Bernie writes the lyrics.

  • it took me two days to figure this song out, it is so fun to play along with!

  • Not bad singing from someone around 65 yrs old.

  • No one sang this song as good as Kruegs...I knew him when he wrote it, and while people want to add a lot of drama to it...he got over 'her' and loved again. Sadly, he died in 1993 and never became the blues player I so thought he had in him...he loved playing bb king stuff in high school..had a great band 'Grease' at the time. good memories.

  • yeah i kew dave also and i think it's ashame that dave masn get so much credit for this song dave and ritchie are great singers. my ex husband who is now deceased curt erickson new both and they were aweson

  • I grew up in Manitowoc and knew Curt and some of his sibs; sorry, I didn't know he'd passed away. I grad HS in '70. There was a 'coffee house' in Manty where Jim and his band practiced; I used to hang out there. I lived in CA many years - would see Jim when he and Dave would play in the area. agree with you about Dave getting more credit though he's an awesome musician. Jim was a great blues guitar player- wish he'd pursued that. Take care,Jayne Mullins Madison

  • dude you are awesome

  • can't stand bob and tom, love Dave Mason :) great stuff, sounds better now than before

  • No ones' voice could've been more perfect for this song than Dave Masons. No matter where Dave sings it, or what era he sang it, he always sounds awesome. This song will be loved a thousand years from now. TY Jim Kreuger for expresing your hurt so amazingly with this song. I only wish you were still around to perform it with Dave.

  • i could listen to this all day old men rule

  • This version is great. What a true professional and artist.

Have never seen him in concert even though I have been a fan since the Traffic days.

  • That's my bud Johnne Sambataro in the orange shirt, who sings and plays his ass off and who has a list of recording credits from here to the moon. Was lead singer for Firefall for 7 years, then Dion DiMucci's bandleader and musical director for years before hooking up with Mason.

  • Just heard it and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • Those guys can harmonize

  • this is freaking awesome!!!!!

  • Great song. I'm glad I was around to listen to it way back when.

  • Like a fine wine, he gets better with age! i've listened to him for 35+ years and i never tire of him or his music.

  • this is even better than when he was doing the song back in the 70s.

  • Jim Krueger wrote this song.

  • So what if he didn't write the song. Many singers don't write the songs they sing. Elton John doesn't write the songs he sings, so what?

  • nice, soothing

  • awesome.

  • good music

  • awesome!

  • Timeless song.
