25lbs my god the boy is on crack if he thinks you can build muscle this quickly, all information you release is now going to be considered inaccurate.
If you're gaining 25 lbs in 6 months, you're not gaining muscle, you're just gettting fat. The only way you can gain that much muscle in that timeframe is if you are on steroids.
Even a newbie can't gain 25lbs in 6 months, especially an ectomorph. I'm a mesomorph and when I started out, I sort of mixed clean and dirty - I made sure I had 4500 cals a day but some days they were clean, some I'd be dirty, some would be clean days with a pizza in the evening etc. In 1 year, I gained 13lbs. THAT is a newbie gain. I gained about 24lbs of fat, which I have now lost most of.
what I don't get in dirty bulking is that usually it consists of high carbs and fats. i.e. pizza, lasagna etc....so how did you gain muscle mass and not pure fat?
Hey Nathan, I'm 170lbs at 6"2 and I have been doing rip's 3x5 for a while and started the gomad diet and built up from 150 to 170 in about a month and a half. In your video you looked extremely lean at 190 with a dirty bulk, did you bulk to 200 lbs and than cut? How did you do it?
@YugenInc Yeah around 197lbs then cut down to ~190lbs. For some reason throughout the whole bulk I stayed fairly lean, I think it was newbie gains because I've never been able to go through the same transformation that fast since.
@RyanFrick1 Either way, the transformation was very impressive, and I haven't been able to duplicate the results in the same time period ever since. It was definitely "noob" gains. I have to work much harder now to gain quality muscle unfortunately.
@nathanstrength I havent seen your transformation so i cant disprove you. and i agree it most likely newb gains. but even at that 25lbs of muscle is a bit hard to believe even under great trainers like rippetoe he said most athletes would gain about 30ish pounds within 4-6 months at a 40/60 ratio of muscle to fat
@RyanFrick1 You can see it on my first video. All I can tell you is that I started at 168, got up to 196, and cut back down to 192. You can see me at 192 in my first video. But either way, that was the past and I have to learn to grow without "noob gains" now...
I have been injured for a while and gained alot of fat, i need a strict diet that bodybuilders would use for pre-contest...like if they had been dirty bulking all year, how would you cut down? cheers
hey nathan, what would you say your body fat percentage is? mines is around 14% i think, is that too high to do a dirty bulk? i don't want to put on much fat
nathan i eat what i want when i want but still no change lol? and i work out hard is it because i dont eat enough? how many meals do you recon i should have a day, i also have protien shake twice a day which is a weight gainer, can you give me a sample of your ditry bulking days such as morning: toast, lunch : pizza etc
@TheDrewThompson Yeah, right off the bat clean bulking would be better. But the problem is, newbies don't know how to get the calories in. So "dirty bulking" usually makes it easier for them. As a newbie, the calories are the most important thing, so if they hit the calories they'll gain muscle. But if you have the discipline to eat clean while still hitting 4k calories then go for it, it'll only benefit you.
nathan, you are the best man its great when you uplad a new video i just wanted to know how you eat MORE when you are already feeling full or dont have that much food available thanks man
Hi. I found this video very helpful since I'm a skinny guy and I'm planning on having a bulking period. :) I'm just wondering if you maybe could give some advice or make a video about how a teenager should be working out, and if any supplements might be dangerous if your under 18 etc. Thanks for the videos, keep up the good work!
glad to see you step up your game on the diet department bro. looking forward to see what you have to post, i definately know what you mean on eating boring food, hit me up if you ever need any recipes on spicing things up i have quite a few good recipes up my sleev.
Hey Nathan I'm 5'8 and 119 pounds. Im really skinny man, what do you recommend I do to start gaining weight and muscle, should I start with bulking? Bulking/working out? Mu goal is to be at least 140. Im just tired of wearing loose clothing cause I'm to skinny. If you could can u pm me. Thnx :D
@latino13x3 Hey man, check out my work out "The Ultimate Beginner Work Out" on my website. It's pretty powerful if you're eating enough. You seem to be a hardgainer, so I'd estimate you probably need 2800+ calories per day to gain weight. I'd go for that, and then monitor whether you're gaining weight or not.
@nathanstrength hey is running all out (9 miles for me im 5'3 and 1/2 and 13yrs) for 20 secs and resting 3-4mph for a mintue hiit? Or how long do u rest till the next 20 secs. second time i sent this btw

@tttwb 14% is pretty lean, just be careful. Once you start pushing past 17 - 18% you're too fat.

@1englishbulldog
You gotta eat more. I'd eat 6 - 7 times per day, although not necessarily a sit down meal.
Morning - eggs, toast with butter, bacon with 3.25% milk
In class - half cup of peanuts and apple
Lunch - 2x Ham sandwich with mayo and cheese
In class - small bag of chips
After school meal - half of oven pizza with 3.25% milk and spinach salad
Dinner - chicken and veggie stir fry with rice with 3.25% milk
Before bed - whey protein shake, grapefruit with 3.25% milk

is it better to dirty bulk for your newbie gains?
or is it just more enjoyable?
would you see better results if you met the same calorie goals but clean bulked right off the bat?
