yeah try VLC the other thing is you prob. didn't disable all of the BS background programs and you also have a bunch of running apps going on..I'd bet the whole thing would speed up if you just do a few simple things in "msconfig""
Autocad should work, I just don't know how fast it will be if your doing a large job. The easiest way to install an OS is to use a USB Cdrom drive. There are other ways, but they can get complicated to setup, such as installing off of a USB Stick. Not sure if the revo supports it, but you can install over the network too.
Can someone help me out with this? I bought the Acer Aspire Revo R1600 and it can't play YouTube HD 1080p videos at all. its way too choppy to watch. I installed the latest drivers from NVIDIA and also flash 10.1 beta but still no luck. Any ideas?
its flash player its shit, I have a quod core intel pc, with 8800gt graphics card and 4gb ram on windows 7, and my still is choppy, flash is just rubiish, but full hd videos I have on my computer play fine.
I got the Revo R1600 to play them fine now. I just re-downloaded the drivers and also flash 10.1 beta plugin and also the active x plugin and after a reboot 1080P videos worked perfectly, give it a try! I'm using Chrome BTW
youtube 1080p is also dependant on your internet connection. I've also found that the installation of windows that comes on it is very bloated. Try a fresh install of windows without any of the junk.
@Evil00721 youtube doesn't work because flash does not utilize the ion graphics chip in this system. It's one of steve jobs main beef with adobe. Flash as it stands right now only uses the computers cpu not the graphics processor so that is the reason for the lag with flash. a 1.6 atom isn't powerful enough to run that video without the help of the built in nvidia ion graphics processor.
@allangreen45 Youtube now supports Nvidia and Ati cards to work along with the CPU to help play the flash videos! If you have A laptop with an ati card or or An Nvidia card You can download adobe flash 10.1 BETA and it will run fine!
I just bought an Acer AspireRevo 1600 at Best Buy for $200 and after getting it running I checked the performance tab in the task manager and got a big surprise: it shows two cores, not one. Hmmm.......
@ghilliebros Team Fortress, far as I know doesn't require a lot of power. Mostly it depends on your internet connection. Good connection should equal fast graphical load time, since it's online only game.
@ChavsAreInferior sure, it can RUNA the damn game, but it lags like a fuckin bitch! ud get around 5-15 fps playing those games, im pretty sure u could get at least 2fps in crysis...
@StoopidShyt Your right, but have you heard of running it on Low? Search for aspire revo playing crysis in youtube, He has it on lowest settings and it plays FINE, Even if there is lag, I'm not one of those nerds who go "Erghhh this computers graphics is shit... Arghhhh im going to play on my XBOX and eat PANCAKES" Don't get me wrong, I ain't dissing you. Simply correcting you by TELLING you that it runs some modern games on Low or medium, Delete all the junk software and it should be fine,
Is there a way to store the Win 7 image on a USB drive and install it from there? Instead of creating a bootable Win7 disc, I'd like to do it using a USB thumb drive. Possible? :)
@furiouspride Yes, its possible. When I installed Windows 7, I just mounted the ISO within Vista with Daemontools and installed from there, no disk required.
Did you/ anyone notice that flicker about 3/4 the way up on your screen? It does that too on my machine, not the acer btw but a 2.93ghz celeron and that's with 720p video. So what causes this?
ive just bought the aspirerevo aswell, but it doesnt play 720p well, not to mention 1080p. its got the original win xp home that came with it and ive been using cccp for codec pack and still no luck. vlc has been no good, movie player neither. is it an issue you had as well or is there something wrong with my system??
Flash acceleration for Nvidia GPU's has not been released yet, but it should be out in a couple of months. i will wait untill its realesed before i spend any money.
I think the processor being used in the video is the atom 230, maybe thats why there are only 2 cores in the task manager. the newer revo's have the atom 330 (dual core)
You seem to know about this computer, so let me ask you. If I buy one of these and hook it up to my TV with HDMI, would it display proper 720p ratio? Whenever I hook up a regular computer through VGA, VGA to HDMI adapter, it stretches the image, etc. I would so get this if it can display it the native resolution.
My 3600 only seems to work through the VGA. My Samsung TV does not activate it's HDMI (i.e., I can't switch to that HDMI source). This seems to indicate there is no HDMI signal.
Did you have to do anything special to get the HDMI interface to work?
Also, is it necessary to have both VGA and HDMI connected at the same time?
@Portablemonkey I've used VLC player on the Revo 330 (dual core) which is just like media player lite. No problem with 1080p. The CPU usage is about 80 percent without GPU acceleration.
Can someone tell me if the Acer Revo could handle a 8-12gb mkv or H.264 video file ??
