Why does everybody have to fight who invented the light bulb? or even call Edison names and degrade him. Maybe he was not the nicest because he was so upset it took him so many tries working his butt off to get it right, who cares about that. Have you ever had a hard day's work and come home bringing your bad day with you? Or who really started the invention? The main thing sometimes it takes more than one brain to invent something, and since these two men worked so hard we have lights.

It always gives the impression that Edison invented the incandescent lightbulb. In fact he didn't. Englishman Joseph Swan patented it a year before Edision. In fact, Edison's bulbs were copies of Swan's bulbs, which Edison tried to improve upon. Swan lit up several public buildings - including his own house - before Edison patented his version in America. Not trying to take anything away from Edison, by the way.

@fork2134 The movie was available (last I checked) from Warner Home Video's "Archives" series. These are burn-on-demand DVD's of older movie titles from the Warner Bros. and MGM film libraries that are not on WHV's regular DVD release schedule. As I understand it, some of their titles can also be purchased as video downloads. If you're on FaceBook, they have a page on there. You can also just go directly to Warner Home Video's main website, I think, and navigate to the listings from there.

@fork2134 The only problem with these DVD-R's is that they won't play on most computer DVD-ROM drives. They are also problematic on older models of DVD players. I forget if these are region-free; I've never purchased or watched any of these. These DVD's are no-frills (i.e., no restoration and no bonus features), with just basic packaging; so they're not too expensive. IIRC, the movie, "Young Tom Edison" (with Mickey Rooney in the title role) is also available in the "Archives" series...
