1906 - Finland was first country to give both the right to vote and stand for elections to both men andwomen and first country to give both rights to all women regardless of wealth, race or social class.
this is a great movie. i love this movie. surely make you think about all the things these women had to go through for what they wanted adn they gave up. makes everyday things we complain about seem easy. everybody has their own wars but this made history
had to watch this in history, and wow it was terrible. There had to be music every single time they walked across the street, it was like a 2 hour 80s music video.
Hilary Swank is indeed able to make very beautiful film and with a deep meaning. Looking at certain films you realize that the human race in certain moments touches really the fund, but there is always luckily who has strength to fight... Those women have given a sense to their life, they have given a sense to the history, they have believed in herself. You never lose if you fight for which is believed... (Sorry for the english)
Lani, I look to the bible for my answers...but if you do not have the spirit of God living inside of you....then you will not look to the bible for your answers...the question is not whether I believe in birth control....
The question is What does God say about the life of the unborn...?
That is the question.
Jesus said I came that you may have life anda have it abundantly..
He paid the price...suffereing like no man on a Cross...so that our sins would not be held against us, get LIFE!
I'm 25 years old and to me the "Bible" is heavy screwed up because a group of men decided what people should believe. Christians think that they are the only ones that know the answer to anything that happens.
I can't tell you what "God" thinks about the unborn, but maybe you can after you have a telephone call with "God". I'm also for gay marriage and gays adopting children.
yet another woman and victim of a mans violence, prngrphy, and prostition, now living with Hpv related cervical disease due to his cheating, pollution, working as a wage slave
Me too. I admire everyone who stand up for their beliefs despite what their religion thinks about them... I'm for gays too... and i don't know whether in your country abortion is legal or not, i think it should be... even though i think is not correct and is inhuman, that's just my personal believe, i think any would who wants to have an abortion will get it, and it's better if they have clean and secure clinic where they can do it. It's jsut about health.
I agree with the comments of women wasting our hard fought rights. Today we use them to abuse and kill children through abortion. Why fight so hard then give men unaccountable pleasure. We've become a nation of whores, giving our bodies away. At lease prostitutes get paid. And now violence against women has skyrocketed. It's time to value ourselves and our children. We need a contract to get a credit card and should have one before we allow men to use us.
that I was dead wrong about Alice Paul...let me say the word DEAD is the Key word here...you are DEAD spiritually in need of Life...that is the problem but Jesus has the answer! He is your life accept him and turn from Death to Life and he will give a love for Righteous and the things of God...
Jesus Said, I HAVE COME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE John 10:10
and that includes you, the old, the normal and unborn babies!
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Paul and "our founding mothers" would role over in their graves if they saw that women were using "their rights" to kill their unborn.
Come back ladies to your heart, your children, our children, the Future of this country.
Actually you are dead wrong. Alice Paul stated that even if she didn't believe in what women wanted to do with their bodies she would fight like hell to see that they had the right to do it. She thought the woman should have the choice...not the government.
I think birth control and abortion rights are the best thing to happen for women. For centuries we were used as breeding stocking. Do you believe in birth control?
AMAZING vid that totally represents the movie. AMAZING movie that represents the real struggle that went down for women. I was incredibly moved by this movie and saw it when it first came out. I cried like a baby and learned about how much these women suffered so *I* could vote.
You are either drunk or you are ignorant. If not for a woman you would not even be here. I guess you think your mother is stupid. you are proably drunk and really feeling sorry for yourself. Sounds like you really have some mental issues that need to be dealt with. you need to find healthy ways to deal with your hate.
I LOVE this movie. While Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were the leaders of the movement and are known throughout the world as the initiators of women's struggle for suffrage, most people do not know about Carrie Cat, Lucy Burns, and Alice Paul, the miracle workers who helped women finally get suffrage in the United States. Watch your mouth, j0j0b3ar, women make up the majority of the population now. Besides, who birthed you to this world?
then you don't deserve to be born =) if i were your mother, i'd change your gender into a female so that you'll know how it's like to be treated unfairly and unequally...then i'll wash your mouth with a soap to cleanse it from those rubbist words =) . . . just be a good boy =)
This movie should be made required viewing for a new generation of young girls as an introductory illumination into the travail that defined women's suffrage...To know that women are to be valued for MORE than beauty, namely,an indomitable strength of spirit.
it goes to show u how passionate these women were. it's a crying shame that some women don't exercise thier right to vote after all these women went through.
When i saw this movie i cried. Women were treated like animals. And yet they never gave up. And they got what the wanted! It just shows how you can get something if you want it bad enough.
It was Men, and Religious Organizations that fought to Prevent women from VOTING and Having a say in Gov't! Ie" religious grps!!!! They wanted them to SHUT-UP and stay home and have babys like "jesus" wanted...I can't stand organized religious BS!
i freaken agree! but that reminds me of religious organization believe that women shouldn't vote b/c sacred bond of "marriage" is represented by the "man."
