I have a whistler radar detector and it does not work on the photo SUV's or the permanent cameras, I got busted a long time ago in scottsdale when thay did not use the signs.
If you get on an entrance on I-60 near Mesa you'll never see the warning signs because you are entering the highway looking left. The judge threw out mine by just writing the court and telling them. $180 saved.
My Valentine 1 detects these vans with plenty of time to slow down, aside from that if you're too stupid to see the signs that tell you they have a van a head, well that's your problem.
Just as an FYI to everyone going through AZ. I have a friend who just got nailed by the photo radar system. The DPS people, put a van on the side of the road with the hood up and the camera was in the back window of the van. Total bs.
Roy those vehicles are not owned or operated by any agency, it's all private companies. There's no officers, no public servants, no public interest, only private corporations for profit.
I actually dnt have a detector at the moment bro so i wouldnt be able to tell you! im dying to get one though.... any recomendations? as to what the best detector is in your opinion?

Radar detector works on the mobile vans, but not the fixed cameras, those use sensors in the pavement. No warning at all on those.

actually here in az they do have warnings on fixed cameras! they actually have TWO warnings before you get to them here on the highways.

Just curious what band they use. I can pick up Scottsdale's vans over 1/2 mile away. Thats the only warning you get there.

It will detect, but would be too late to react. The lower end units alert just as you come into range of the van
