@TheStanbabe Yeah. It's kind of weird seeing Sgt. Carter as a prison convict. I love the old TV shows and Frank Sutton was always hilarious as Sgt. Carter.
this cbs fall preview from 61 is on my gunsmoke 50th anniversary volume 2 dvd, thanks for uploading this video! i'm gonna give this a like for this one!
Every one of the shows on CBS on Saturday nights starting Fall 1961 was a CBS _OWNED_ drama! (Perry was jointly CBS & Gardner's Paisano Productions though). But Perry, Defenders, HGWT, and now the expanded hour-long Gunsmoke were all _owned_ by CBS Productions, and all used a common "music score" package as well (also used by Rawhide, Fugitive, Twilight Zone, CBS Radio Mystery Theater, etc)
we live in central pa,one of my great memories of those great saturday nights is watching these shows on a saturday night in the winter time,if we were getting a snow storm,my brother and i during commercials would go turn the porch light on to see how hard it was snowing, just super great vivid memories.
@mark17044 Hi, you might be surprised to learn that as a teenager living in Ireland in the early sixties, I saw most of those American tv shows. The Republic of Ireland set up its own television service which began broadcasting on New Year's Eve, 1961 and at that time, it had the highest percentage of U.S. tv shows in the world, outside of the States! The Defenders, Have Gun Will Travel, The Fugitive, Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, etc., were all as much part of my youth as yours.
And he WOULD have lived a lot longer, had he not been murdered by the tobacco pushers and their illegal (it's illegal to poison people, no matter how slowly you do it!) weapon of mass destruction.
Fun seeing Perry Mason do a Defenders promo. The Defenders was the anti-Mason lawyer show, one where right and wrong were harder to determine. Also we see Burr promoing Gunsmoke, a show he tried out for but lost when he got out of a chair and the chair went with him. He slimemd down and got the Mason role instead.
do not forhet the american version of Gojira (Godzilla) 1954.

The CBS eye logo on that balloon looks really creepy. Perfect prop for the Twilight Zone.

Haha! The cannon at 2:22! How long does it take a cannon ball to hit a door 20 yards away?

Frank Sutton was so under-rated for his chops as an actor. I would have liked to have seen him in his own detective series had he lived.

Looks much better than the garbage on every channel now:( Too bad we can't see these shows on Saturday night currently.

I love how the door exploded a full two seconds after the cannon fired only less than 50 feet away.

@kermitdfrogz And the recoil of the cannon was a second late.

Wow, a super young Friz Weaver, one heck of an actor! Wish I could see The Defenders again.
