  • wow awsum i have a machete too can u make a tutorial maybe???

  • where does one learn this, probably awesome parties

  • hmm. wonder how many times he cut himself...

  • Trying to be a superhero?? isnt working mate.

  • omg dude fuk that bro i just bought a pure black machete n i dont think i got the balls for that shit

  • I can do the same with two pieces of boiled Spaghetti .

  • love the skills but the blade catch makes me think that the edge isn't that sharp...

just saying.. cuz if you get a machete razor sharp.. which is possible.. you won't be able to catch it like that without getting cut and getting 3+ stitches...

  • @Reallush I know that there is no way to prove this... But it really is sharp. If you look closely at the video, there is no point at which my hand actually comes in to contact with the sharpened edge of the blade. Granted, it's not "razor" sharp (which is a recepie for disaster with a machete). But it was sharpened to the point of being effecctive at cutting small brush; its intended purpose.

  • @rabidfish02 hehe a razorsharp machete.. yeah that would be really dangerous.. but I actually had something similar ( for bushcutting ) and it was razorsharp.. and lets say... I got a one of a kind fingerprint now ^^

  • where is that/this?

  • i bet you'll take a knife to a gun fight... and WIN!

  • just saying thats not a knife thats a sword

  • @crazyman1639 how about a machete?

  • not dissin on ya bro but when you go to catch it ond you have to reach over the blade that is when your makin it easier for someone like me to grab it by the handle. but good tricks i give you props for that

  • This is so like an 80's martial arts training montage

  • like to play...................

  • you remind me of vin diesel from the chronicles of riddick :D

  • Wow man you should look into doing stunt work for films or some motion captor for videos games I bet you could work with konami in the new metal gear solid rising video game great work :)

  • hey Matt u are so skilled

    nice video and nice moves

    u are a spinner?

  • Really nice your like denzel in the book of eli...only better

  • @phillio2468 Wow, that's quite a compliment! Thanks!

  • pulls a gun out and shoots him indiana jones style

  • that was freakin great man dont listen to the haters on here that was killer

  • very aggressive stance most of the time, making your intimidating factor greater, and a self-learner quite obviously, but I'm afraid a little unoriginal. So intimidating, but unoriginal... you'd need to put a bit more thought into a few really cool tricks for a nice wow factor. Great video though, I really liked the camera shots. the mountain top shot was really great!

  • smooth! must've take a lot of practice. nice video

  • O.....M....G AWSOM'LY DEADLY!!

  • very nice indeed overall the footage work isnt all around bad mabye just a little over done. anyway your skill is pretty high up there been meaning to post a video myself although im not sure im quite as as talented as you and im not sure whitch of my knives to use. how long have you been doing this?

  • 0:28 that was simply amazing

  • Great skills!

Do you feel like doing a tutorial video to explain a couple of those tricks or to give few advices?

  • That was pretty cool. u just moved the camera around too much with too many effects..srry if this seems like a shitty comment. it was cool lol, i cant do any of that stuff with my machete haha

  • your from kansas arnt you

  • New Hampshire, nice try though ;-)

  • You are such an internet tough guy...

  • Man, awesome. But scrap thos crappy video effects except for the slowmo. Your skill does not need that!

  • It's interesting how someone actually feels their opinion matters so much tht they are marking every positive comment thumbs-down here. Some folks just can't get around the fact that they are insignificant. Face it, he's good, it's a good video, get over your envy and TRY to do this. Just... TRY. And when you sever your own hand on a fail, you can come back and tell him again that he sucks at it.

  • Thats frickin awesome! What kind of knife is that?

  • a Machete

  • if you ever get any time, you can look at my dads vids (masterfrederick). you might be able to pic a couple moves up from it. but those are some really good moves

  • Hey, Rabidfish, it seems you've attracted a new fan... My son (wrathvenge)... which should say something for your (obvious) talent.

  • Ah, very good! Thank's for the kind words! How is your instructional DVD / project coming?

  • It's done for now, I sent you a link to where you can download a copy. I hope you find it helpful!

  • Hey, thanks! I have already had some dialogue with your father, he even offered to show me some tricks, which is immensely appreciated! I'm going to blunt one of my cheaper machete's and try to pick up a few of his moves if at all possible.

  • im a black belt...i can barley pull off some of theses moves...nice job there.

  • Thanks!!!

  • it was my mothers lucky machete

  • Nacho Libre... What a film ;P

  • OMG WOW your soo cool

  • lol this is one of the best knife tricks video on youtube, the tricks are actually really skillfull but it only has 11k views :/

  • Thanks!!

  • from someone who enjoys throwing and experimenting with knives, etc. have you ever tried any behind the back over the shoulder throws?

was just curious, video was nice.

  • Good question! No, I have never really tried any behind the back and shoulder throws. The main reason being that all of the machetes that I own are rather sharp. If I had a blunted blade to train with I would probably be able to expand on my bag of tricks quite a bit.

  • A little time with a file and some sandpaper will give you a good training blade to practice with.

  • Very impressive spinning skills. As a person that throws knives & tomahawks & does a little fire breathing for a hobby, I would say it really appeals to my reckless nature as well.

BTW I love how all the morons WITHOUT any other skill videos posted come out of the wood work to express their ignorance of handling weapons.

Those comments are on par with walking up to a guy spinning a gun and telling him that won't help you in a gun fight.

They either need to post up or shut up.

  • I could not possibly agree with you more.

  • I When think that when they're done posting their nonexistent video responses, they need to proceed to the nearest Hibachi restaurant & tell the chef his blade skills are useless in a knife fight too. That might be a better equivalent.

  • Goddamn!

  • i thot it was pretty cool so cut the guy sum slack

  • ye not very hard

  • It looks cool, and might be good for arm/wrist development (if done ambidextrously), but...

doing knife tricks in combat is great way to disarm (or de-finger) yourself.

Most opponents will not wait 3 mintues for you to go through a routine, twirling a machete around as you spin and juggle and flip. No, you will get punched in the face, right away-- and, after throwing the machete in the air, thus disarming yourself, it might land blade-first on you after you hit the ground.

  • Bro, it's called machete tricks, there is nothing combative about this video. In most cultures a Machete is utilized as a tool before a weapon, not the opposite. I have seen much of this first hand. If I posted a video of me fighting people with a machete I would be most likely be in jail right now.

  • i doubt this kids ever gonna get in a real knife fight....

  • And of COURSE the ego-penis comes out when someone does something for the sake of PERFORMANCE that involves a weapon... Protip, clueless, the guy obviously has training in the filipino fighting arts, or do you not actually SEE the fighting techniques within the dance? Of course you don't, you have no training of your own.

Personally, I thought it was pretty good, except for the overuse of transition effects. I would have enjoyed it more if I could more clearly see him work the steel.

  • i wanna fight him to the death with my tomahawk

  • Bring the pointy objects! Bring the Paiiiiinnnnnn!!!

  • ROFL ahahaha dude u shuld do that, post it on utube 4 me hahahhhrhhahahahahahahhaha rofl

  • THIS was my hobby until i lost a finger :(

  • whoever directed this video is fucked lol

  • I directed it, whats the problem?

  • well some of the scenes are nice, but every knife trick video has a lame tehcno song playing in the background, maybe people who do knife tricks like techno idk, the part where you throw the knife and it lands in a stump if u threw it that far and it made it in thats pretty impressive, but when you do that dramatic run to it is pretty corny but ya you should do a cooler video with a theme or something

  • Im not particularly partial to techno music but my actor and myself felt it worked with the footage. The scene where he throws the knife is a montage of four different shots (different locations) creating the illusion of distance. As for the running scene i felt it was a good break from the tricks and climactic as well for the subsequent dune shot, which I felt was the best shot in the whole video. This video was ultimately experimental, but i like to hear my viewers own conclusions...

  • That shit is sick! nice film work Tom

  • Nice to know I'm not the only one who can do that. LOL!

  • You are pretty good at throwing! Keep it up!

  • sorry bro but the music just made it seem all the gayer

  • knife prick

  • train hard, go pro

  • This shit is awesome man. Keep up with dat !

  • I really enjoyed the way u spin the blade holding it at the end but istn that too unstable and easy to drop?

  • Nah, it's actually fairly stable. But only after lots and lots of practice!

  • hey man not bad, i got a machete, its bigger than that one and sharp as hell, last time i tryed doin that shit i cut myself, i mostly stick to throwing knives and knife tricks...

  • Let's see you do better... The video is called 'Machete Tricks', hence there is no need to imply that it is being used as a weapon, ...Or that I'm practicing a form of self defence - or martial arts. Please continue to comment in a childish manner; it makes you look tough on the internet.

  • Incredible! Favorited.

  • Hey Matt! This is Cameron, Doug's son. Awesome skills! though, I think you would do much better with a jian or katzbalger than with that sugar cane harvester. Practice make perfect.

  • Thanks for the compliment Cameron! - If I had a few of these exotic weapons I would probably give them preference over a plain machete. That's the crux of living in the woods I suppose, heh. Well, there is always Ebay.

  • cool but, isn't that blade too long for actual combat?

  • huh?!

  • good tricks but watch ur guard hand its looking kinda limp and pointless sometimes and it would make ur moves look so much better if u did something with it

  • Eskrima fighter much? It shows both in choice of weapon, and in your technique

  • Nah, I have no actual weapons training whatsoever. That's quite a compliment though, thanks!

  • Just because you haven't been trained, doesn't mean you're not using the same technique. A lot of Escrima is pretty intuitive stuff.

  • Thanks!

  • I agree. I didn't know you had no formal training until I read this far in the comments. And I am speaking from 24 years experience in the martial arts.

  • thats infected mushroom playing this ass clown didnt site his music

  • If you watched the video all the way through you would notice that the citation is at the end of the video.

  • lolz sry then IM rules!

  • if you own my little sister i

tolt god he change me in a gay

  • that's the most random shit anyone could ever possibly type...

  • go baby bro

  • matts a bad ass. tiny toms a sick video editor. annnnd my favorite baby brother :)

  • owesome knife tricks man.impressive

maybe i should try using that kind of knife in the front of my customers, LoL

i bet they will leave the table right away.LoL

    great job !!

please check out my knife tricks,i hope you enjoy, thx

  • woah, I hope to have dexterity as good as you someday! That was incredible!

  • dude ur trick rent that hard u just use the video effects to make it look kool

  • Your videos are way better...? Dont worry, none of the tricks are 'rented'.

  • ANIMATED I HATE YOU.j/k dude that was AWESOME!!

  • Heheheh.

  • You've got mad skillz dude. How did you learn to do all that?

  • Just lots of practice. Starting with basic fluid movements and then building on those. Thanks for the favorite!

  • wow, matt. you have skilllllllllls!

  • Not useful but develops speed and familiarity with weapon.

+12.76 Kudos points for this video

  • That's ignorant. That's like saying kata isn't important in the martial arts.

  • No, its like saying the flashy moves wont help you out in a fight but develop speed and familiarity with weapon.

    Kinda like saying:

"Not useful but develops speed and familiarity with weapon."

In order to read between the lines, you have to be able to read.

  • Not useful but develops speed and familiarity with the weapon... In that statement are you declaring that it is not useful to develop speed and familiarity with one's weapon? Because I think that might just be a bit on the handy side myself...

  • No, its like saying the flashy moves wont help you out in a fight but develop speed and familiarity with weapon.

  • So you're still contradicting yourself. Good to know.

  • No, its like saying the flashy moves wont help you out in a fight but develop speed and familiarity with weapon.

  • That's still like saying that developing speed and familiarity with a weapon won't help you in a fight. You imply that this is a useless skill, and in the same breath contradict yourself. Perhaps you might wish to actually learn a fighting art before you spout off with self-contradictory bullshit.

  • No, its like saying the flashy moves wont help you out in a fight but develop speed and familiarity with weapon.

  • Repeat it all you like, you're still an ignorant ass.

  • No, its like saying the flashy moves wont help you out in a fight but develop speed and familiarity with weapon.

  • I rest my case.

  • that would scare just about any1 away, nice. keep practicing and you will become a total pro

  • that could come in handy in a fight

  • That's an excelent video. closest thing ive found on you tube to the stuff i do. next i think ill try a machette!

  • Heya, I'm the guy spinning the machetes in the video. I'm really glad that you liked it. Most of what I have found on youtube relating to knife tricks consists of balisong/butterfly knife tricks. I was glad to be able to show my tricks on youtube - as they are quite different. I have no martial arts training, I just play with sharp objects too much, hah. I watched a few of your knife manipulation videos and you appear to have very good dexterity. Keep up the hard work!

  • How many times have you nearly sliced off your ear? xD

  • Your really good. But thats hard to believe lol.

  • I wonder how many times that guy has cut himself open.

  • I'm the guy in the video and I have never once cut myself with a Machete. I almost always use sharp Machete's as well.

  • I think your camera man was TRIPPIN BALLS, nice skills you've got though ;).

  • lol pulling a karate/jet li movie there?

  • You have serious skills! I have a Cold Steel Kukri machete next to me that I don't really use. I wouldn't really feel comfortable whirling it around after I've seen it go halfway through a coconut with just a little force behind it. ;)

  • good vid but 2 b honest i like butterfly knife tricks better

  • Nice tricks.. but just tricks..... aggressive combat moves require more skill, sharpen that thing will ya

  • They're just 'Machete Tricks'. ...And the machete is very sharp, easily sharp enough to cut me if I slip.

  • Where I come from (El Salvador) people use machetes everyday. Some use it to do work, others to do crime. Go to my country and say emo to anyone carrying a machete...that would probably be your last time calling anyone emo.

  • Excellent post. Thank you.

  • I'm definately not Emo. We dont even know what the hell that is here in New Hampshire. Didn't your mom ever tell you not to play with balls?

(In reference to your account name of course.)

  • 2 things: what does my name have to do with this and/or being emo?

And, what difference does it make where you r from??? To know what emo means has nothing to do with where you're from.

FYI: i didn't say the guy waa emo... i said it's kinda emo-like to know how to do those things w/ a knife.

  • not really, that's like saying only emos wear tight pants, whereas you see metros, glamcats, skaters and bmxers wearing them, just to name a few. knife skills aren't really confined to one stereotype or clique, imo.

  • His remark is about balls idiot

  • it does look a lil bit like wushu i must say...which makes me like it that much more =D

  • wow that is some cool shit dude! it must have taken alot of practice. and you did a good job on the vid to!

  • You should do tricks with an Italian machete, they're cooler ;)

  • when u filmed this u shoulda worn a jason mask lol

  • wow that's really neat! plus you did a wonderful editing job. . . :)

  • lol when it showed that bird i thought you were gonna throw a knife at it

  • o my god me to

  • is that any paticular model machete? or is it just a nice quality no name machete? you should try tricks with Cold Steel Machetes

  • nice dude... i really like it.. specially the kick up with the log chunk and slice! i have a survival macehete with a rope handle and its not very easy to flip like that handle one... i miss my old handle machete.. it was fun to flip around like that

  • Why have you learned this?

I got linked to this when i was watching "MMA underground" and you said that you were a "machete martial artist"... so you carry that machete around with you all the time?

  • How does doing martial arts or machete tricks mean that I have to carry a machete around with me all of the time? I would be in jail pretty quick if that was the case.

  • Naruto doesn't have shit on him !! haha j/kk j/k nice vid man nice skills!

  • i thought u would shoot that bird down with your machete but then...

  • :55 to 1:00 .......if that thing was sharpened then u wouldve been cut in so many dif. ways its not even funny haha but nice vid.

  • Thanks! Though, I can assure you that the machete is sharp... And if you look closely you will see that only my palm and thumb touch the machete. My thumb only comes into contact with the unsharpened / back portion of the knife. Thanks for all of the comments folks!

  • soooo what good does all that spinning do/

  • great for intimadation.. like my butterfly knives... and its alot of fun to do... try it sometime and you'll see for yourself

  • actually not going to try it, it looks ridiculous. I am an adult and dont intend to be spinning around any kind of machete at anytime. And that honestly would not intimidate me in the least bit at all.

But I cant condemn it all, he has obviously practiced it and it looks fancy.

  • yeah... and yes it is intimadating.. in the back of your mind... watchin that happen would strike alittle fear in you... basic human instinct... denying it is pretty useless... like i know how a butterfly knife flips... but still watchin someone flip it the exact same way i do makes it look intimidating

  • Change your mind much? heh.

  • well maybe your conscious is weaker than mine, in all honestly something like that would make me laugh and give me a chance to kick that person in the groin

  • wow... you really are dumb enough to convince someone of that... i would love to see it sometime

  • what the hell are you talking about

  • im sayin id loved to see you laugh at a guy flinging a machete around and kick him in the groin since you love to think you wouldnt be intimidated

  • oh well, i dont need to convince you of anything. All i can say is im not some little bitch who is going to be afraid of some guy twirling a machete like a baton.

  • yeah.... you would
