@sad4ewer it is not a vaccine. It is a hormone replacement that he NEEDS. His body does not make growth hormone on its own. In order for him to live a normal life and be healthy he has to have these shots

wow I have never seen anything like that "pen" very interesting! and that is so good that he stay sleeping and doesn't even know its happening!

How often do you have to put a new medicine cartridge in the pen? And how do you know when it's empty?

@babymakesusthree A pen lasts us about 12 days. Once the pen is empty we throw it away and get a new pen. We know it's empty when we can't turn the dial to draw his dosage anymore. It won't dial if there isn't any medicine left.

Great idea waiting till he is asleep, I bet that makes it so much easier on you guys and much less painful for him (since he doesn't know it is happening.) That needle is interesting, how you can just dial in the dosage. I am a medic in the Army and we never have the luxury of new technology until it is very old:-) Thanks for sharing!

Wow! That's so easy! I'm glad he is so great about it and that he doesn't wake up. What a good little guy! And I am a twist, and I'm fascinated by watching that kind of thing (medical stuff always interested me but I suck at science too much to be a dr lol). True story my husband looked over my shoulder as I was watching and said " oh no! Shut it off i'm going to faint!" he has fainted watching myself check my blood sugars oh and this was when Thomas was only showing the needle. Jayden could teach him a thing or two lol.

Aww he is such a darling! Very similar to the insulin shots I have to take - same needle and almost identical injection pen. Most of the time you can't even feel it. You guys are such strong parents. Good luck with everything :)

Those shots work exactly the way my fertility meds did. That needle honestly is so tiny and you can barely feel it. As you could see it didn't bother him. I only ever noticed the meds.

@CandidMommy Gotta love the fluffy booty : ) Sadly the days he will be wearing a diaper at night are slowly coming to an end. He pees in his sleep at night maybe once or twice a week and that's it. What a sad day that will be lol.

@misaki52008 Not sure what it feels like but we have given him his shot twice while he has been awake and we just distract him and not let him know what we are doing and he doesn't cry. It is a very tiny needle.
