  • I'm curious, is there a reason the shield wire would not already bonded to the structure during install/commissioning?

Was this process part of commissioning the line, or something that got added to an existing line?

Also, what is the purpose of the curly wire on one one side of the shield wire?

  • This bond installation was a retro-fit to an existing, already in service line. The wire, hanging in metal suspension hardware, was technically already 'bonded' to the structure - the installation of this new, copper wire bond only reinforces the electrical connection. Sorry, I can't explain why the engineers decided this extra connection was necessary. Any inupt from other sources is welcomed. The grey, spiral, piece of hardware on the shield wire is a vibration damper.
