I love it how both sides keep saying we have a jobs crisis in this country and the only way to fix it is this way or that way. Both sides are wrong because both sides take money from Big corporations. NEWSFLASH: we have a jobs problem because we don't freaking make anything in this country! The two areas of the world that want to see the US fail supply us oil and make our goods. It's not that our Government is stupid, it's just that they don't answer to us. Even though that's an ALL negative statement, I kinda agree and will not deny the fact. I doubt we'll get any better soon, especially if everything today is about greed. Companies are extremely scared to give a fair share, afraid that they'll soon run out of money. We had several major stores close in NJ last week.

yeah there are jobs...$10hr which doesn't even cover rent! this sucks i've never seen it this bad in 35 years of working. i was denied unemp for being self employed in my base year. burned up all the 401K and savings trying to survive. a cushy retirement is gone forever. will be figuring out how to live in my truck next. 10 years ago me and many others were buying vacation homes. now we have nothing and no one hires you - too old or too experienced. this is not america!!!

People! Wake the #$@! up! There are jobs out there but they are in China and in India.  The circle is broken. Law makers Dems and Repubs alike have sent your jobs overseas at this expense of americans being able to make a living. They have sold you out to the corporations who also make a living on you relying on your puchases of their goods at a profit but won't hire you at living wage. It's a disgusting fact that the rich American corporations, banks & billionaires currently store most of their money in offshore accounts in Switzerland & other countries.

They money which they squirrel away in foreign accounts could probably clear the national debt of America and create enough well paid jobs for EVERYONE!

No matter what any of us think or say, all benefits will end Dec 5=no Xmas spending, in Jan 2011, stores will layoff and shut down. Things will become markedly worse. 14 million unemp and without money. Rioting. Thefts. Assaults. We cannot say anymore its OK as long as its not me. I became a 99'er in July. 2 college degrees, one in Bio and one in Nursing, new grad for the last. Cannot find work. All want experience. Lots of jobs after one year experience. Zero before. i was unemployed for all of 2009 and after applying to hundreds of companies finally am back working,unemployment should be extended as long as it takes for our economy to come back and for jobs to grow, when we're adding 500,000 jobs a month for a year or more and things get back on track then that's the time to end the extensions but until things get better cutting off unemployment now is just cruel and inhumane.

@Anothercoilgu depends on what state you are living in. I live in massachusetts, one of the least hurt states by the recession/depression. There are plenty of low paying jobs here in retail, restaurants, fast food.....etc but unfortunately it is one of the more expensive states to live in
