  • Ahhh, I love the sound of new pointe shoes. <3 I can't wait until I get mine!

My street shoe size is a 10 (U.S. fitting)... Do you think my size is too big for pointe shoes? I don't want to look like a dork with huge feet on stage. :(

  • @pieintheskyBEOTCH Definitely not. I'm a US fitting 11 and have friends with around 9.5-10 and their feet look fine (if they use them correctly). Good luck!

  • @madidancer121 Thanks so much! I can't wait until I get my pointe shoes! AAgh I want them so bad haha :] Is it true that your feet hurt really bad in pointe shoes? My friend always has blisters on her feet.. and I mean she has blisters all OVER her feet... but I thought that might be just because of a bad fitting? Idk. But is it true pointe shoes hurt a lot? Oh and is it true that it's easier to turn in pointe shoes than it is on flat? Thanks for all of your help!

  • @pieintheskyBEOTCH

Pointe definitely isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but if your shoes fit well and you pull up out of your shoes, it's much better. Most important is fit, really. Also if your friend doesn't wear padding that could have something to do with it since the inside of pointe shoes are pretty rough.

As for turning, it's easier and harder. It's kind of more scary, but you can do multiples a lot easier if you're really on your leg because you're flat on the platform

  • @madidancer121 Yeah she doesn't really have padding... she just uses lamb's wool in the inside of her shoes... but yeah the more modern day padding probably works better i would guess... and yeah thats what i thought for the turning en pointe.... so basically when i get my pointe shoes and im doing pirouettes, i'll be able to do multiples easier if i can balance well en pointe?

  • @pieintheskyBEOTCH Ehh...I wouldn't really say it would be easier to do multiples. It's a lot scarier and harder to get up there all placed right. If you try to do a pirouette right when you get your pointe shoes I would most likely think it wouldn't really work. You have to really work up to them. :)

But theoretically, it should be "easier" because there's less friction. IS it really easier? I wouldn't say that. But everyone's experience is different.

  • @madidancer121 Hmm good point good point....well I'll keep that in mind. Maybe when I'm closer to getting pointe shoes i'll post some videos up and you could give me more tips. I really appreciate your help. Thanks so much! :)

  • What do they cost? I'm just curious and in awe.

  • @nomadseawolf

When I bought them I think they were 89.00 USD

  • great job. so jealous that you can have alot of muscle while still having your legs thin! my calves have a gross amount of muscle :( they look bulky whenever i go on pointe or even whenever i point my feet. you have nice high arches but make sure your always turning out your left leg just as much as the right leg. I found if you stop it at 0:55 when your doing the echappes your right leg is turned out a little more than the left. but other wise really good job!! :)

  • @msmarissa909

Thank you for the kind words!

My right leg has much more anatomical turnout and also the strength to hold it. I'm always working my left leg much harder, but it's very stubborn!

  • don't listen to these people about dancing in the bathroom. at least ur dancing! maybe its not the best on tile but its WAY better than carpet. and you look very good. your legs are thin! (im jealous) and ur muscles are defined and toned! keep up the rlly good work :)

  • @balletdancer523

    Thanks so much!

  • i have just one question:

why are you dancing in the bathroom?

  • @dancingtwins159

From the info "There isn't any space in my apartment to dance!"

This is the only place in the apartment that isn't carpet.

  • Those are nice lol I have the same ones

  • Those are gorgeous! I love them I need a new pair cause mine are dead and I think I'm going to try a pair of those on

  • @starburstskittleduck

I'm not doing pointe or ballet at the moment. Taking a break because of my lack of time and injuries.

  • very good work and the shoes look great on your feet:)

  • love hate relationship with their solo's.... fairly hard shoe.... but not hard enough...... i go through them wayyyyy too fast.

  • use your toes more.. realllllly articulate your feet. especially with that big vamp... suffolks are lovely though :)

  • You have really nice feet and calves lol!!

  • ur good! i like how the toilet is right there.. lol... youre bending your knees when you are up on pointe... which can hurt your legs.... when you do echappes, your not getting down onto your heels enough, so try to work on that.. otherwise your very good and i can't wait to see more!!

  • Mine are capezios, pavlova. I'm yet to sew ribbons on, these are my first pointes. I was wondering, do they have to be pointe ribbons?? I mean, I have a spool of ribbon that I got at a craft store, and the color matches perfectly. Can I not just use that ribbon instead of fancy 15 dollar flexer ribbons???

  • nope you need to get pointe ribbons :)

  • well, I went ahead with the spool, it seems to be working okay. I've had to replace the ribbons quite frequently though, because the ends fray.

  • I burn the ends of my ribbons to keep them from fraying but Spool might just catch on fire unlike pointe shoe ribbons... lmao that would suck!!

  • @blahblahblahblah22

if there silk then if you go over it lightly with a lighter on the ends (just enough to melt it) then they wont fray

  • Good idea! I've been using clear nail polish to seal up the ends. It works okay, but it sometimes gets in places it shouldn't be.

  • actually you can get craft ribbons, my frend did that and it worked, but its difficult because:

the size of the ribbon, and color

and thats kool becuz i have capezio pavlowa but i haven't sewed the ribbon on yet either.

  • hey watch me with my point shoes

  • cool! i wear suffolk solos

  • heyy, what brand r ur shoes? i'm really trying hard to get mine like that. i've worked at it for the longest time, its soooooo flippn frustrating! lol. but seriously im like wicked annoyed, mine rnt worked in @ all yet!!

  • They are Suffolk Graduate.

Are your's just not breaking in enough? Because Lisa Howell has a great video on breaking in pointe shoes!

  • okay, i'll check it out!! thanks sooo much! but uh, my brand is capezio, and my shoes hate me. all my friends i think got like the same kind as me, but idk if they're capezio, and no ones is worked in that much!! thanks soo much though!! =)

  • wait no, they're bloch!! lol srry

  • Oh, blochs are HARD!

  • they are!! lol.... i checked out lisa howell's video!! its REALLY helpful!! i'm getting new pointe shoes soooon anyways!! but thanks soooo much.... any other brands that are hard to break in?? =)

  • I've always heard that grishkos have SUPER hard shanks too!

They have different shank strenghs and their Soft is like a normal bloch shank!

  • omg russian pointes take forever to break in, and forever to make them die.. i had a pair of russian pointes for at least 7 months, and i was doing pretty hardcore stuff... lol...

  • y would u practice in the bathroom!?!?

    wtf

  • From the info:

"Also, sorry if the steps look a little awkward. There isn't any space in my apartment to dance!"

This is the only floor in my apartment that isn't carpet, including the kitchen. I'm not practicing, I'm just seeing what they look like on. Where else am I going to do this?

  • i like those shoes on you. i have never heard of those pointe shoes before.

im on my 6th too! lol but its time for a new pair 4 me... :(

ive been on for 3 years. you go thru shoes so fast! lol. i thot i go thru pointe shoes fast... hahah

  • Your feet look awesome! The only thing I saw wrong was in some of you eshapays (i dont know how to spell it sorry)you didn't come all the way to 5th when you closed in the front, but that was all! You also must have really strong feet to break in those shoes so fast! You good awesome!

  • wow six pairs of shoes in 2 years? that means one pair lasts you about 4 months! I have had mine for about 2 months and they are only my first.

you seem to have a very strong arch, seeing how this is your first time wearing them and they are bending nicely around the arch. Good work :)

  • looks very good to me! :) I'm sugarfairy_ from DDN.
