"The old town looks the same as I stepped down from the Train-" Mary with lips like Cherries"!A lovely Life expected;BUT;No.The crime Committed Seems Unpardonable! in the sight of the Law.A beautiful life given by God is lost.A cruel death caused by satan took over? If he has repented; The Bible says: O death where is thy sting ? O grave where is thy victory ?
Does anyone know which song it is that sounds like this (though not this singer, I don't think) and it also has lyrics about a train at the beginning, and the verse says lay or bury "me beneath the old" (something) "tree" and it also has the "where the long grass" (either grows or blows) but the song is about someone who has already died, and he's singing about being shipped home to be buried and "tell my mama"? I've been looking for it for years... It's an old one too...
My English Teachersang that to us .... And She wants us to draw in oslo paper that we imagined in that song .. Can I draw a man burried in green green grass of because the prisoner gets killed
Erm, I think you've made the common mistake of thinking that any version of a song you heard first or are more familiar with is the original one.
It's originally a country song recorded by Porter Wagoner in 1964 and Bobby Bare in 1965 and wasn't covered by Tom Jones until 1966, when British acts would often cover country songs nobody here had heard of.
Please Release Me by Engelbert Humperdinck was also originally a country song too.
