  • I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!

I remember in 1st grade I showed my teacher this one story and she took the book out of the library :( Been trying to remember the name of the book for YEARS!

  • I know this is just a story and all but what doesn't make sense is that from a little girl to an old woman her head has been detached for all these years. So apparently the green ribbon has magical powers to sustain life as long as it's around your neck.

  • thee is a movie out there thay its based of of this story. I remember this story when I was a kid but a little different

  • wow i remeber this book when i was like in 1st grade still gives me the creeps

  • godammit my library teacher in grade like 1 read this to me and i always wondered what it was called...

  • I read this in a book they had at my school when I was in second grade.

  • I remember this as a kid, maybe 10 years ago or so. Thanks, been looking for it and it had completely erased from my memory. Cheers

  • I remember reading a similar but different variation of this story when I was a child. The story took place at a summer camp and the girl wore a scarf instead of a ribbon. When her fellow camp mates kept asking her why she would always wear the scarf, the girl refuse to tell them. One windy, cold night, the other camp mates snunk into her bunk and carefully removed the scarf only to have her head roll off. The story ends aprubtly right there just like this one, anyone else read that one?

  • ok i got scared at the end O.O

  • @AnimeXDForever Why?O.O

  • seriously, this brings back so memories from 20 years ago... awesome! thanks for the upload!

  • OH balls. I still got goosebumps when the narrator said the very last line. I cried when I listened to the tape recording of this the very first time in the first grade.

  • LOL I LOVED this book when I was child!!!! What in the world!

  • Ok I'm not watching it....what actually happen when he untied the green ribbon? Did her head drop off or something??!?! Or is there a bloody bullet-hole right through the throat or something diabolical medieval torture device jammed into it or a slit from a knife like fresh fish!??!

Man...my imagination sounds more horrific than the real thing

  • When I first read this book in the 1st grade and it gave me nightmares. Now I can't get anof of scary stuff and reading this book now leaves me with visions.

  • @LGW1234159 I did the same thing. But for some reason, this is one of the few stories I remember from my childhood except for maybe some Dr. Seuss books but only because those are still around everywhere.

  • fucking scary for a children's book, but i loved it as a kid for some reason... kinda like the Nightmare Before Christmas

  • my cousin and i would read this in her book and get so scared and now its like ???

  • i had this book as a kid

  • I remember reading this in like, 3rd grade

  • Ok i read this story in FIRST GRADE and sometimes it randomly comes into my thoughts and finally i couldn't take it anymore so i had to watch this! btw i bet a deranged maniac cut her head off when she was young, and before she lost too much blood, the doctor was too stupid to give her an actual bandage, so he/she gave her that dumb ribbon instead.

  • I loved this book as a child.

  • the narrator wasn't suitable for this story. But it brought back lots of childhood memories!

  • I remember reading this back then and seeing the movie Campfire Tales, there is a part in the end that is similar to this story! I think it was even called "The Ribbon" as well.

  • Son of a shit, that's still scary.. Now I'm for sure not going to sleep tonight. It scared me when I was in elementary and it scares me now..

  • I sent myself because I read the book of awesomeness

    ~kanda-chan

  • This story's orignially the Red Ribbon isn't it?

  • i think the real reason i was so freaked out from this story is the drawing....its frickin creepy!!

  • i used to love this story when i was a kid though it always amazed me a person could live with there head chopped off if they tied it on with a ribbon

  • So thats why her head always fell off during sex.

  • i love this story <3

  • Worst time for my phone to viberate. I want to know the publisher of this story! I want to know whoever thought this was good to put in a children's book! This story still gives me the creeps. Shoot the story gives people who are like 10 yrs older maybe more, than me the creeps! Hooray. For sharing trauma with other generations.

  • The Teeth story always scared me more...

  • And this book is for young children? WTF? xD

  • this was my favorite story when i was 5...i was a sick kid haha

  • what's the moral of the story??? I SRSLY DONT GET IT

  • How is this not funny to anyone else?!

  • sheit this story is engraved in my head. i remember a substitute teacher told it to my class in the first grade.. still in my head to this day. creepy

  • i don't get it.

  • And Jenny's. head. fell. oooff. *dramatic piano*

  • @Lumenni - Someone should make a parody with the dramatic chipmunk instead of the piano. Would be even more shocking than the ending of the story itself.

  • i'll never understand this story, even 10 years later i still dont

  • i cant believe i found this story!! lol is it really just 4 pages hahha! seemed like alot to me back then!!

  • Well that was a very glum ending.

  • Oddly enough I read this to myself alot when I was younger and didn't mind at all, I think i mostly liked looking at the pictures though rather than the overall message.

  • WHAT THE FUCK.

  • omg this traumatized me for years when i was a kid and it still creeps me out. My little sister told me she read it for the first time today and it brought back so much fear and nightmarish memories...although my sister was laughing so now i feel pathetic

  • I remember this when I was in first grade.. Freaked me out. x___x Still does.

  • "And Jenny's head fell off...".

Could the narrator sound any more grim? I mean, damn, I'm a grown man and that final scene sent a shiver down my spine. I remember having nightmares of this as a kid, now I'm probably going to have those same nightmares tonight!! LOL!

  • @MagnaderAlpha Oh my lord you are right, I used to read the book but it's double as scary with the creepy voice! :S

  • i knew that was going to happen o.O

  • This use to be one of my favourite stories growing up!!!

  • Replace the ribbon with facebook or a cell phone and the story becomes modern.

  • ..........I thought the story was interesting....i kind of liked it

its not the kind of scary that grosses me out, it's a nice story that doesnt need a lot of description to have someone get the picture

  • Oh shit, I can't make myself look at the last picture. My kindergarten teacher read this story to the class, and I couldn't sleep for weeks and weeks. I'm in my mid-twenties, and to this day I sleep with my hands near my neck, a habit which started when I saw the picture of head-severed Jenny. Also, I developed an irrational fear of doorknobs after this story. The knobs look like eyes. This horrible story gave me permanent fears. I don't understand why any fool would EVER read this to a child.

  • This scared the hell out of me when I was in second grade (7 years old)

  • when i was in 1st grade i read this book and i was freaked out for a week

  • This story gave me nightmares!!! I read it in the 1st grade when I was 7 and it has haunted me since. Glad I remembered what it was called!! :-S

  • I'll bet when he saw that, Alfred freaked and then suffered a fatal heart attack.

  • There was a young lady my wife who disrespect, scince the 1st day i met her she wore a ribbon around her neck, she wore that ribbon for years , hear the flutes, when i asked her to remove it she always had an excuse, one stormy night while we were in bed, i snatched the ribbon off, and off rolled her head, i laughed myself to sleep while the room spun like a record..................

  • Fairly certain that's not possible. Not sure though.

  • WOW. Flashback!

  • scary voice

  • I just read Washington Irving's "The Adventure of the German Student" and realized it sounded like "The Green RIbbon." I used to love that story as a child :) Glad to see it posted on You-Tube :)

  • Read this in 3rd grade and this story still gives me the chills....!

  • to this day this story scares the hell outa me.....15 years.

  • Excellent!!

  • man, thats just not right.

  • When i was about 8, this story scared the crap out of me. Even now, at 15, it brings back memories. I used to listen to this tape ALL tthe time.

  • LOL i remember this story i used to read the book in elementary school and i would show my friends and come to school with a scarf and i would tell them that the story was about me!!!and then they would freak out;)

  • I love how the story had a pleasant and sweet tone, and then at the end . . . OMG! WTF?! AAAaaah! What?! Lol.

  • This story haunted me for a long time. That ending . . . woah . . .and the music!

  • this was my favorite story..........
