Davenport was the only player that I can think of who could actually match the power of the Williams sisters. Her serve and return were almost as good as the Williams and her forehand and backhand were arguably better as far as precision goes. She could actually trade groundstrokes with them. Unfortunately, she would never match the speed or athleticism of either of either Williams, and that became evident particularly on grass where they would expose her movement as a weakness.
I wish Venus will start using this serve again now that she's older. .. I feel her current motion takes a lot out of her legs and going back to this motion will keep her energy up
I am a big fan of both Williams'. Their tennis game has set the standard for BOTH women and men in the pro circuits. I have also been a fan of Davenport's. Her eloquence and respect for the game has always added to my appreciation for her. One of Davenport's major struggles was her movement and speed, which was one of the worst in the sport, unfortunately. Davenport improved some over the years and I believe she won another major a few years after this major. I'll miss the sisters when retired.
Sure Davenport is good and she has won some grand slam titles herself, but there is no way she can beat Venus when she's on. Davenport is like Hingis with power. Both of them only wins when the better player is not 100%.
If you're a tennis player with more US Open titles than Venus have, you could say like that, unfortunately you're not, you're just a kind of people that was jealous of people's success. And it will be so crazy if you're an american...hahahaha.. Americans are racist and have no sense of nationalism not like the chinese. In 2050, asians will rule the world and kick the white racist bastard into the HELL!

@voodoobitchthis Winning an event 2 times is not dominance. Winning it 4 or 5 or more is dominance. Fact is Venus is just 1 of 4 multiple U.S Open winners of the last 10 years. There are two 3 time winners as well and Venus isnt one of them.
@grafgirl27 dude your sad, you go out of your way to find a Venus Williams video to talk negative about her. What have you achieved in your life? and dont make any b/s up.

Venus williams career accomplishments mean even more since her diagnoses!!

Davenport's ball-striking is so effortless. Can you imagine a player with her ball-striking ability and Venus' crazy speed? That would be unbeatable.

@dtv2031 I would think about it but if its for speed, yes, Venus or Henin would be my choice...but not sure

@dtv2031 Yeah... she's called Serena Williams :)

@voodoobitchthis Venus dominated the U.S Open? On what planet.
U.S Open titles since 2000:
Clijsters- 3
Serena- 3
Venus- 2
Henin- 2
Sharapova- 1
Kuznetsova- 1
Looks like a big feast and Venus is just one of those at the table. Clijsters and Serena get the biggest turkeys though.
